The Grimace loves milkshakes is a thing that dates back to the creation and introduction of the Grimace. He was once a villain for McDonalds, much like the Hamburglar, and had 4 arms to steal milkshakes. When he became Ronald’s best friend, he became a lot softer in design (he had a more spidery look originally), and they sorta just dropped the stealing milkshakes bit.

The Choco Tacos were around for over 40 years and weren't exclusive to Taco Bell; in fact, it didn't start as fast food but rather was invented by an ice cream vendor and initially sold on ice cream trucks. I remember first eating them in the 1980s at Taco Tico restaurants in the Midwest, but once Klondike bought the rights, they were available in the frozen food section of most grocery stores. For a while, there were even different flavors (for instance, chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla, and I think there was even a fried ice cream flavor). They were really good so long as they hadn't been refrozen (this would happen a lot at convenience stores, when they were in ice cream coolers that could be left often by customers)--nothing worse than crystalized ice cream and a compromised shell.

The grimace shake wasn't discontinued, it was a limited time thing and the taste of the shake changes from mostly vanilla to mostly berry when you have it with fries. And I like the grimace shake
It's funny that the Reese's PB cup McFlurry is considered bad. A local chain called Culver's around here has that topping available in their "concrete mixers" and even has that as one of their flavor-of-the-day recipes.

There's this food court vendor called Sarku Japan in La Palmera Mall in Corpus Christi, Texas that used to serve a bento box, I loved the Bento Box, it was like getting a combo meal where the only options they give are either rice or noodles, I often go for the noodles. But when they stop serving the Bento Box in the La Palmera Mall food court, it made me very sad. The only other Sarku Japan vendor I know that still serves the Bento Box is in the First Colony Mall in Sugar Land, Texas where my dad and where staying at my brother and sister-in-law's house when Harvey hit my town of Rockport, Texas, it was my birthday at that time and they took to that mall and it made me happy.

The Grimace Shake is being advertised right now in Canada, I just saw it being advertised with shirts and everything the employees were wearing this past Thursday when I had to go in to pee.
I've been focusing on eating healthier, and I've found a while back that when one cuts down on butter, salt, and sugar, the ability to taste those things becomes much stronger. As a result, a number of unhealthier items don't taste as good, and healthier items have much better and richer tastes. One of my favorite items now is slow-cooked oatmeal with almond butter and cinnamon. If you have concerns about preparation time, just prepare a bunch of oatmeal at once, store it, and just take small amounts out later.
@@shadow4040 There are healthier alternatives to sugar, and sugar can have a literally addictive quality to it, so I recommend finding a good alternative as your body adjusts to consuming less sugar, and your taste buds should be able to taste sweetness better over time.

Dairy Queen Breeze: Well, at least Dairy Queen tried to make a healthy item taste good, even if they didn't succeed. On a different note Strider, it was super fun seeing all the different mascot clips in this video and I really hope you'll do videos on mascots one day. I'd especially like to see you cover lesser-known mascots like the 1970s Jack In The Box Bunch [three commercials and three comics are here on YT, I highly recommend starting with How A House Makes Noise], Buffalo Bee [Nabisco Rice Honeys], The California Raisins, and The Frito Kid [who had an animatronic in Disneyland].
I can relate to a few of these things on this list. I’ve seen the Reese’s McFlurry come and go over the years but never bought one. Half the time when I try the ice cream machines are broke so there’s no point in asking about a McFlurry. I had the Unicorn Frappuccino. Seemed like every sip of it never tasted the same as the last. Tart, sweet, then tart again, then maybe a little bit of both. It was a wild ride. I was a big fan of the Grimmace Shake, and I had the meal that came with it at the time. Excluding the Shamrock Shake, It was definitely a nice change of pace compared to a otherwise chocolate or vanilla based dessert experience at McDonalds.
As someone who hates smoky flavored things, that bacon milkshake sounds like an absolute nightmare. What, they couldn't just blend bacon into it? They had to have a disgusting flavored syrup?!
Not from a restaurant, but a desert failure I remember was Viennetta ice cream cake. I loved it, apparently few others did, but enough for demand to bring it back. I only see them at Kroger & they're half the size they used to be, & only available in one flavor. It was a poundcake-shaped & side thing of ice cream, I would say it tasted somewhere between marshmallow fluff & Italian sweet cream coffee creamer rather than vanilla, layered with loads of crispy crunchy tempered chocolate. Supposedly expensive & time consuming to make & when first released was rather pricy. The modern stuff does not taste as good but still worth a try.
I remember absolutely adoring the Hershey Dunkens when I was younger, it was actually smaller siezed-up chocolate pieces on top rather than nuts and cocoa pops!
Fun fact about the grimace shake. It does actually make sense for him, since his debut commercial had him stealing them en mass (he also had four arms but that never stuck). And also apparently he’s supposed to be some giant tastebud monster
I actually loved that grimace shake! I do want to learn how to make it myself. I also used to love the Mcbakery too, but I felt it was a premium item. You don't go to Mickey D's to spend that amount of money for breakfast when you can get a better deal at 7-Eleven.
Very interesting video!! i wonder if youve done a video specifically on region/country exclusive fast food items. just found your channel today, but i really liked it already so ive subscribed, thanks for the video mate!
Dear Phantomstrider,You should make a list of wholesome TV shows that sent the wrong message about serious issues. Example 1. Racism- didn't make the team, didn't get your dream job,or did you get arrested? Well,it can't be your fault, someone is racist. 2. You should always put yourself last for people who will never do that for you. 3. Hair brain schemes always work. 4. Stalking, guilt, and relationship sabotage are the best ways to get your crush. 5. Always stand by your toxic friend/friends. 6. Tell the children to always pursue their dreams, even though they suck at it. 7. Dyslexia can manifest at any time. 8. Be an individual/don't follow the crowd. 9. Bullying, telling the teacher or talking it out will solve the problem.
A few of those aren't stupid/toxic. Telling the teacher can and has worked. at least in my experience. Telling people to be an individual within reason is good. The rest of your points are fairly valid.
oh i remember talking about the issues with the reeses mcflurry issue with some mcdonalds peeps. the chunks it had apparently were an issue since it seem not to fold into the ice cream as well. some places tried switching the reeses with reeses pieces. over all, while it tasted great, it was a nightmare to create it perfectly as peanut butter and chocolate of the reeses would kinda seize up making them difficult. honestly, they should have thought it though a bit more to get it perfect.
I loved the Reese's McFlurry! The Reese's Blizzard at Dairy Queen is my favorite, and having something similar at McDonald's was cool. I'd love it if it came back, even if as a recurring limited-time item like the McRib if not permanent. I didn't like the Grimace Shake much though. The initial taste was pretty gross and confusing, but the after taste reminded me of Fruity Pebbles.
Ohhh, the Choco Taco... my beloved dessert... after they were no longer offered at Taco Bell, you used to be able to buy them as a 4 pack in grocery stores. Wish they'd come back: the waffle "taco" shell was thin enough to be eaten easily but still strong enough to hold up as the vanilla ice cream softened and started to melt. There was a thin coating of chocolate on the inside and a good thick coating on the outside that held the ice cream and nuts together. It was great. Way better than a regular Klondike or a Drumstick cone. (unrelated fact: McD's is trying to re-brand the "McCafe" as "CosMc's" in a continued attempt to rival Starbucks, which is part of why their pastries have been becoming more scarce in US McD stores)
I used to work at McDonald's back in the early 2000s, my store did a secret McFlurry called Apple Pie, we smashed up a baked apple pie of ours and made a McFlurry, but it was by request only. We also did a Pumpkin version with our seasonal pumpkin pie
Seeing the Hershey Dunkers in the honorable mentions instantly opened the memory floodgates! I LOVED those things back in the day, and I never even knew they had nuts on top. No allergies, but with me being such a picky eater back then, I'm glad I didn't find out until just now lol
I wish that the Grimace Shake will become an annual limited-time item just like the Shamrock Shake, available from June to early July. Or during October as a Halloween special item due to the nature of the memes around the shake.
Choco-tacos are incredible in my opinion. They had strands of fudge in rich vanilla ice cream. There was more fudge on the outside of the inside part, wrapped in a cone and dipped in chocolate. The Ice cream was like good friendlies, and was wonderful. There were bits of nuts in the top shell too.
For those people who enjoy playing Pokemon GO, they might remember that the Unicorn Frappuchino was heavily advertised in the game when marking Starbucks locations. In fact, it's still featured in the location markers to this day. With it containing 76 grams of sugar, it has only slightly less sugar than a 20 ounce (0.59 liter) bottle of Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew contains 77 grams of sugar.

I can confirm that my day is made better whenever you post! Keep up the good work!
*_Maybe the real failed fast food desserts are all the friends we made along the way_*
watching this before my shift at burger king might make some of these
Remember, they're called "cherry pies," not "cherries pies".
1 cherry per pie! Any more would be too much apparently 😄
Okay the fact that you had (even for a brief moment) green hill/Emerald Hill Zone from sonic is amazing.
Omg mentioning Becker! I used to stay up late Fridays back when I was in high school and would always watch that when it’d come on.
They discontinued the cherry dipped cone at dairy queen and replaced it with butterscotch.
I think I have tried the Reese's Mcflurry myself around several years back, It's very great tasting!!!
Thanks for sharing, Phantomstrider!!!
That Grimace Milkshake was the meme of June 2023
This is why we can't have nice stuff😢😢😢
I genuinely started tweeking when I saw HoodoHoodlumsRevenge
Very interesting video!! i wonder if youve done a video specifically on region/country exclusive fast food items. just found your channel today, but i really liked it already so ive subscribed, thanks for the video mate!
Dear Phantomstrider,You should make a list of wholesome TV shows that sent the wrong message about serious issues. Example
3:27 Apparently he’s actually a taste bud. I know, it sounds weird, and I don’t see it either…. But if McDonalds says so, I guess that’s that.
Ooh I wanna see you do Wendy’s discontinued Frosty shakes those where so good!
Apparently Grimace is supposed to be a tastebud. But if your tastebuds look like that on a regular basis, you should get that checked out.
"It's not repulsive." Such a rave review right there.
0:17, 4:27 never thought I would see SML in a Phantomstrider video
oh i remember talking about the issues with the reeses mcflurry issue with some mcdonalds peeps. the chunks it had apparently were an issue since it seem not to fold into the ice cream as well. some places tried switching the reeses with reeses pieces. over all, while it tasted great, it was a nightmare to create it perfectly as peanut butter and chocolate of the reeses would kinda seize up making them difficult. honestly, they should have thought it though a bit more to get it perfect.
Here in Canada, we didn't get the Grimace shake. I wish I've gotten to try it. :(
Ohhh, the Choco Taco... my beloved dessert... after they were no longer offered at Taco Bell, you used to be able to buy them as a 4 pack in grocery stores.
Who thought it was a good idea to include berries in a milkshake?
The only one that belongs in milkshakes are cherries, on top.
I've made blueberry milkshakes at home, came out great
I've made blueberry milkshakes at home, tasted grear
Seeing the Hershey Dunkers in the honorable mentions instantly opened the memory floodgates! I LOVED those things back in the day, and I never even knew they had nuts on top. No allergies, but with me being such a picky eater back then, I'm glad I didn't find out until just now lol
Do Top 5 Worst/Best Filipino Cartoons!
I wish that the Grimace Shake will become an annual limited-time item just like the Shamrock Shake, available from June to early July. Or during October as a Halloween special item due to the nature of the memes around the shake.
4:25
Yeah the whole meme of the Grimace shake... Killing people, like it was some how Poisonous or something
The Grimace is a walking oxymoron. He's smiling.
In Germany there are still there bakery things in the McDonald’s restaurants, they have so many options on cakes and biscuits, I love them
16:17 I almost thought he was walking with Cat-Woman instead of one of the Characters from Ted in a Costume 😂
