Hybrid side event on currently and formerly incarcerated people and contemporary forms of slavery

Co-organised by Penal Reform International, the Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery, Australia, the UK, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, American Civil Liberties Union, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
This event brought together voices from civil society, State representatives and international organisations to discuss the challenges and strategies in protecting people in prison from slavery-like practices, in the context of the Special Rapporteur’s report on the topic.
