I was told by one of my friends that has produced a bunch of songs for purpp that if a kick doesn't hit right on a high note of the 808s, just change the pitch of the kick where that 808 is hitting just one semitone up or down and it will hit hard again like on the other lower notes. You can even go 2 notes higher. If you don't believe me then just try it, so you don't need to reverse the polarity of the 808. Kyle Stemberger does that too.
