Ha, ha - I have the same starter and mine came apart twice also while removing and replacing the inner primary and transmission mainshaft seal. I wish I saw this video fist cause I had a heck of a time with the brushes. FYI - my main wire was facing toward the back and it seems to be happy there. Just found your channel and I'm enjoying your videos!
Wow, not much room at all so can see terminal placement is a chore. Hope the Delica serves you well, family used one as a taxi in the Philippines for years Loved it. Hope You and Your Loved Ones have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, also a Blessed 2022. Thank You for sharing your talents.
thank you for making this video to help us all out. do you have a high comp engine? even with the best cables and battery i still have issues getting over that compression stroke with the starter.
@@outlaw86custom so this got rid of you having to hit the starter button a few times before you finally can get it to crank more than one revolution? thanks for responding i really appreciate it. 67 FL here
I did the same upgrade starter, my battery holder had a lower bracket that sat above the terminal Sod’s Law I moved it, I got 3.6 gauge cables and upped the earth with my old positive boy it spins so fast now even if misjudge which holes to bolt the spacer you can undo and move stick with it guys.
great video... thou i have evo i have just that starter... ( i call my bike shovevo ) .. i wanted to see how to remove a starter f rom evo but everything i found was about newer ones... and that shovel movie is just about a starter i have
The mount of the starter on the earlier evo is the same as the shovelhead 2 bolts and some also end mount. Disconnect the ground on your battery remove the two bolts and an end plate mount if you have to you also may have to remove the rear exhaust to slide it out. Thanks for watching.
i have a 1982 shovelhead fxs lowrider with a kick start and i want to add a electric starter to it . the primary is set up for it but all thats there is the silinoid and a flat plate on bacj. just the basic's please wiring and install . thank you

thank you for making this video to help us all out. do you have a high comp engine? even with the best cables and battery i still have issues getting over that compression stroke with the starter.
Yeah that's why I put the high torque starter in place to counteract the compression. Thanks for watching.

@@dsruddell well it did for me but I don't know your bike. Thanks for watching.
The trick is to tape the end cover to the body and to rest the spline gear on the table to tap the inner cover off.
Whatever....

Be nice if he told us what those 2 small discs that came with the kit were for.Guess we'll just have to go elsewhere to find out

It's a shame it didn't come with a motor end mount in the kit to make things look better
But it still works. Thanks for watching
