We are Team Miyagi, a couple of senior citizens enjoying our senior moments. We travel off the beaten paths, by foot (size 8 1/2 and size 9 1/2), by motorcycle (81 Shovelhead and 80 XS650) and by 4 wheel drive (79 Ford F150). We are not outdoor experts, or even talented amateurs. We just like messing around in the outdoors, building campfires, cooking on cast iron, and spending the night under the stars. So join our team. Our names are Mr. and Mrs. Miyagi, and we are your team leaders.

Interesting. Even if i only have a japanese harleyish 1500cc bike that cost me less than your transmission rebuild kit.
Not sure what you mean 🤔
No? My english is not good?
I'm building an XS1100 chop 😊 Thanks for the info cause the clutch is stuck
Yes, it does work. Last week I had to teach the technique to someone I know. Thanks for watching
Thank you. Quality as always. Nick. UK
Thank you for watching!
😎👍😎 Thanks. .
Thanks for watching!
Thank you much I've got two old shovelheads and I need all the help I can get on them appreciate these videos Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Amazing video. Thanks to share this little mistake! It's really usefull video. I also want to remove the lower part of the crankcase. Good to see that it can be taken apart. The gearbox and gears can be checked. Without having to remove the entire crankshaft and control cylinder. Thanks Again! From Hungary!
You very welcome... I didn't like the fact that I messed up my transmission gears but it made a good video. Thanks for watching

Love your videos. I've got a barn find '75 xs650. Last run in the late 70s - 7000 on odo. Good compression and spark. Elec. Start. I overhauled the carbs. Adj. Valves Won't start. I think timing is off With static timing. Is top dead cyl. When I can wiggle the rockers of that cyl ?
Yes, one side only & rotate for the other side. Since you've had the carbs off I'd also check your manifold to see if you've got an vacuum leak. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video Mr. Miyagi. I’m getting ready to swap from a PMA system back to a stock alternator on my 78 650. How can I replace the locating pin you talk about at 21:02 ?
Well I guess if you could find an original pin to put back in there you just tap into place and you'd be good to go. I'm not sure where you're going to find one you're going to have to find some material and maybe make one or eyeball stater housing in place. I did look around the shop see if I had one but I don't. The thing is the screws are going to hold your housing in place just make sure you have it turned the proper way. Hope that helps thanks for watching
@@outlaw86customthanks. If I’m understanding you right, what you’re saying is the locating pin is there for ease of installation. If I’m mindful of where the locating pin ought to be and how I install the stator in relation to it, then I don’t actually need the pin to be there. Correct?
@@danieldobbs5386 yes, it's just for locating the position of the stator. What I said before is that when you install the screws in it holds it in position. Your wiring also helps position the stator. These are fairly simple engines to work on.
Is it less accurate to adjust mix screw or idle screw with both cylinders firing?
Yes, that's why I do that dead cylinder adjustments it makes it more accurate per cylinder in the final adjustment is between balancing out the carbs.. thanks for watching
Hello i am about to replace the seals on my klr and i have a question It is about your hand made tool on 17.43 (on your video) is this tool also needed when assembling or only when disassembling ???
Good question, sometimes you do need it for the reassembly and sometimes you need it for the disassembly but not all the time. If you have an impact an air impact wrench sometimes that comes right out of there and it'll tighten right up. Thanks for watching
@@outlaw86custom thanks a lot
Thanks for this. I just installed a kicker on my 78 xs1100 and had no success after 20 kick start attempts so I'm watching a few videos. I'll post an update when I'm successful.
Well I hope it all works out 🤞. Thanks for watching
Hello, Mr. Miagy. Please, how many ml of oil should be put in the telescopic fork, front, of a Yamaha xs 400.12 E motorcycle. What winter should it have. Thank you, in advance. Winter ?
About 4.5oz and you use 10/30 weight or ATF which is about 10 weight. Thanks for watching
The trick is to tape the end cover to the body and to rest the spline gear on the table to tap the inner cover off.
Whatever....
Good video except for having a big red Royal Enfield logo in the middle of the video
You can't always do anything about the ads on you tube....
@@outlaw86custom I hear you
I’m a little late to the party. 79’ XS650 Special. What psi? are you setting your vacuum at? Also, when I reach 3000rpm my bike starts to pop and “backfire”. I was told by a random stranger that knows nothing about motorcycles that I needed to raise my needle up one notch because I’m running lean. My spark plugs are a little white so, maybe, but can you confirm if this sounds familiar or even the slightest correct?
Sounds like a manifold leak while it's popping. And as for setting the vacuum I run two gauges and balance them so they're both even pressure varies different on all bikes. Especially when you have a vacuum leak on the manifold. Thanks for watching
@@outlaw86custom I did some digging on the bike after watching a few of your videos. First, my exhaust valves were gapped almost a millimeter and intake was roughly .5mm. I did have a really rough tick when I first got the bike, that is gone now. I made a homemade tool similar to yours in my shop and it is so accurate it almost feels like a factory tool. Second, I examined every nut and bolt that even looks like it touches the engine and pulled out my repair manual. Almost none of the bolts were up to the proper torque specs, especially the exhaust manifolds. The left side still pops. It is coming from the exhaust manifold which is missing its gasket. Third, I opened up the carburetors and found a pinhole in one diaphragm and a 1.5mm gash in the other. New ones are being ordered today and once they’re replaced the bike should be in much better shape. Fourth, I had never messed with vacuum gauges before this so I was unaware of how that were designed. Now that I’ve actually invested some time into learning them, I feel that my original question is very silly. FIFTH, without your videos I would be lost. My stepfather was crazy into motorcycles when he was younger and it was really nice to be able to bring all this knowledge to him and speak his language. You even gave us some advice that he didn’t know and he’s the Original Polock. Watching your videos feels like being in the shop with him so thank you for that.
Will try that tomorrow thanks buddy
Just make sure you lifted off the ground so the rear tire can turn fire that thing up bump that break you make killed a couple of times they will break base. Thanks for watching

So I loss my ssr key the only one I had if I order an ignition switch with keys would I be able to start my bike ?
Well it depends on if you bought one for your bike then I would say yeah it would work if you bought something else I'm not sure.

I went to a dealer an got one the guy had them behind the counter vin # is al needed $5
I've tried that before but our dealer was not that helpful.
Glad you’re back, hope all is well!!
Everything is good but back on the road again this coming Thursday. thanks
Thank you very much, very informative. Just bought a Gen 1. Planning to do fork seals and brakes. Very similar set up to my old Honda.
Fairly easy to do , so have fun and thanks for watching.
Good information. I picked up a 22 Himalayan leftover and could not be happier with Royal Enfield. 17 month's and 9000 miles, not a issue. I maintain the bike myself. All the after market parts are for some but I run stock. 80 MPH and 68 MPG are my numbers but I drive around 100 kph or 62 mph. No hurry or wheelies for this 63 year old. I ride everyday around the Red Rock canyon area in Vegas. Baxters is The go to for Enfield parts, and if you haven met Fuzzy biker...your missing out. " Forgotten motorcycles " is where to find this Enfield aficionado. The last week with temperatures in the 90's at 4am, the valleys not cooling off so rides from 4:45 to 6:15am have come to a screeching halt. Ride Safe!
Thanks for the info, now Baxter cycle a good group to work with so next week pay attention and install the performance cam. I really like it
R.E. Is just killing it with an affordable line of motorcycles. But…. The dealers have to back off of the extras they charge on these bikes. I realize they have to make a profit but when you have a bike that MSRP’s for $5000. and it’s marked up $2000. Plus that a serious chunk of change. Other brand do the same thing. Personally it leads me to the used market from private sellers.
To tell you the truth, The only reason why I bought a brand new Royal Enfield it's because I didn't know that much about him and how dependable they are, so I wanted some sort of warranty. I probably would have been okay just buying a used one. They are a pretty simple bike to work on and the quality is a lot better than I thought. Thanks for watching
Do I have to change the ignition module
No this is power on , power off switch... thanks for watching.
Well by golly I've been pretty lucky mine no sumping .it's a 1980..
Yeah my 81 sumps but my 84 doesn't 🤔
What are your thoughts on adding a ground wire from the Solenoid to the negative terminal of the ground?
Well I guess you could but it is already grounded to the primary case.
Glad to see you back. Really enjoy your videos
Thanks, I'll try to get back in to making videos again ... thanks for watching.
I've been curious about the Royal Enfields, and using one as a lighter weight adv bike. I like the mods you made. Does the tuner you installed help with the lean condition, especially after opening up the airflow and a different exhaust? That probably has a catalytic converter and an o2 sensor underneath, does the skid plate protect them?
So far I really like the bike, with mods it seems to run stronger. As for O2 sensor it's located at the upper end of the head pipe. Thanks for watching.
This is awesome! Excited to see you complete this build and give it a run for its money!
We'll see how it works this week on the BDR track and then I'll install the new cam and check it out. Thanks for watching.
Enjoy your R.E. They are giving the competition a run for their money. The R.E. 650 engine is sweet. I got to demo several R.E. models. The you tube gal,”Ichy Boots” who did have a Himalayan went all over with it and loved it. She also got to try out the new 450 version. She liked the upgrade. She then went onto a Honda 300 CRF which she loves. She currently is back in the Netherlands where she’s from because she wiped out in Africa and broke her collarbone and in surgery they punctured her lung. Her videos are interesting and has many with her Himalayan. Thanks for sharing your new ride. Currently I’m trying to troubleshoot a short with my directionals on my XS650C. Keeps piping the fuse when I engage them. My flasher relay looks like it arched.
And so far I'm really enjoying the Scram 411. Wow I didn't realize itchy boots had crashed that bad. I hope everything works out for her. As for checking out wiring it's always a pain. I finally went with a badlands turn signal setup which works in a process at 11 seconds and automatically turning off. Thanks for watching.
4 months ago I bought a 1980 shovelhead. And I'm kind of going through it standing to stern it does have dahlgreen cases now the seller told me it's 88 cubic inch stroker motor butt.. you know sellers can kind of get a little.. does have a 5 speed sputhe transmission.. externally looking I'm putting it back to stock .... Thanks for a great video series on the shovelhead
Well I may be doing a few more videos of shovelheads I sawtooth shootout is coming up in July so I will definitely be riding my old shovelhead there and hopefully doing some filming. Hey thanks for watching.
@@outlaw86custom 👍👍🏍️
Good call on that switch to turn off the ABS
The ABS switch is something I've seen on another video. The motorcycle dealer that I bought the bike from said to just to pull the fuse. I didn't want to have to remove the seat every time I needed to put the fuse back in or pull the fuse so that was my solution. Hey thanks for watching.
@@outlaw86custom when I had a newer bike and I had a fuel management system and I had put in a fuel enhancer.. for the injectors I wanted to feel what the difference was so I did a similar thing. I put in a switch so when I switched it the fuel enhancer was actually doing its job the little electronic unit and then when I turn the switch off it was shut off and go back to the normal computer program that it mapped out in the computer.. and I wanted to feel real time difference. Right then and there so I wouldn't have to so I could. Really notice the difference and it worked...
A friend of mine has a RUclips channel in England and he has a Himalayan.. course along with a Sportster and road King.. and he seems to like the Royal Enfield..
They are very fun bike I'm enjoying the heck out of mine.
Heck I work on mini bikes too this last summer I worked on a old Honda from the 70s.. that was fun to find parts for
I enjoy working on the old Hondas and '90s and the 360s but sometimes it can be a bit of a pain to find the parts.
Hello there I enjoy my workshop too...👍😸

Helped me out thx, forgot the dam spacer, in the wind now
Tell you the truth I'm not sure what you're asking you need to spacer if so it was about a quarter inch thick you can make your own.
Great info. Question on the shock springs you removed. Obviously the air bag ride is better but was curious if the shock springs were better than the standard springs and if so approximately how much more in your expert opinion?
Yeah the shock springs were a little better than the old seat springs but here again that's why I went to the air ride we tried so much better. Thanks for watching
@@outlaw86custom Thanks. Doesn't seem like the shock springs are worth the hassle.
Where did you get the new cylinder and how much did you pay for it?
