it happens alot when the character is too detailed, try simplifying your character designs to 2-3 key features that u can focus on and overtime add more when you feel comfortable.
This helped IMMENSELY. I've been struggling with sameface for a while now (trying to make different nose/jaw shapes, but it doesn't work) but the library/avatar method is SO helpful! You've earned yourself a sub, thank you so much 💝
thanks for that vid, especially for random characters we can see in a manga scene. The main problem is creativity, I use some role play tips to create a whole new character, but when it comes to random it's harder 'cause for me those random characters are here to full empty space and show more animation, especially in my manga
I drew an anniversary gift for my girlfriend and it was our moment of me asking her out and... I’m used to edgy and “emo” ink art and I drew it on line art and istg we looked so depressed and she said she looks liked she wanted to kill her self. 😭😭😭 and Im trying to do different faces to redo it and i keep drawing annoyed faces. 😭😭😭😭
If I can chime in. Another good tip is to read manga and comic series with various artstyles. Like: One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Kinnikuman, Golden Kamuy, Sin City, Hellboy, Bone, The Walking Dead
Creating a character in a RPG game and then going off of that as a reference helps. Especially in Xenoverse 2 since every character has different hairstyles, features, and species as well also you said that alot of young people have this and it's true. This video helped a lot and opened my eyes to what i was doing to have same face syndrome. The eyes were the same along with their face shape and nose.
This was an impressive video, seeing diverse characters add life to anime and manga series (really anything) 😁! Also @JjajangHunter Your comment made my day 😂🤣!
Hey man really appreciate the work you've been doing. I heard you said that you sometimes review projects of young artist and I'm a young artist from Jamaica with a project in the making, I got a few reviews from several friends and random people and got wonderful feedback. I draw and write for myself by the way. By any chance would you be able to give me a review?
Im not content with my anime style I want to better my style but after so many years it kinda seems like I haven't gotten anyway even tho I practice drawing
Just found your channel and I really love your content. I really like your manga too ! You mentioned how there are types of noses for types of people and I was wondering if there is a book, or website, curated to that type of character design?
I struggle with variating the face shape of my characters. They still look the same, even if I make the face rounder or longer. I do change the eyes and hairstyle and I try to change noses, but thats not so easy in my style because its like really manga-ish. And it just looks weird when I change something...
At the time of 3:36 I was looking at that the second eyes way to long because that looks similar to my character "Nockkarey breaddo" eyes I use dose eyes for my character "Nockkaery Beaddo" the second eyes the one with the thot. Anyway those eyes was to tell the reader that the character he's seeing had a bad life and never faced his are her fear. I use that for a sign as a bad guy are street character. The eyes when I ask other who looked like that I ask them "how was their life experiences", they keep saying they having a hard time making money are they lost something. So when I was making this character I kept researching the character design and as I was doing it. I learned that when making a character appearance is most important to tell the reader that the character whom make them feel like that have a great characteristics they can tell the backstory by just looking how he are she was made. Well sometimes. Every character most have a profect appearance if it's not profect then reader well take the story less and less. Also the character body not how they dress. The way the character dress is what they want to feel. Also tell the reader what they like seeing are what they most favorite for. So dressing a character to me is telling the person what they do for a living.
NotGivingOutMyRealName he prefers to do everything himself , and besides that's not as easy to over in the west as it is over in japan where its more abundant , plus mainly all the manga artist are based in Tokyo so it allows for easier collabs
Justin Taylor I understand that. But I wish he could just have some help editing the pages so, as I said before, we don't have to wait 3 years for 8 or 9 chapters
Ive pinned myself into a corner😭 I was so eager to draw that I started working on my manga from a random point in the story, and its too late to start over😭 I also haven't written my mangas story down so ittl be hard to peice the story together, I need help!! 😭
Quick question When it comes to accessories and things like that would a character blushing count as well? An example is like uraraka from my hero academia Also this video helped a lot since I suffer a lot from similar character syndrome (I'm making a little layout to test what works and what doesn't in my style I'll try to send it via Instagram)
Hey is it okay to use guide lines? Like Yair Sasson Art and Neco Draw both uses squares to help draw the face and continue it from there. Is that okay to do? Because I see you don't need to.
Those are decisions based on you but usually, the decisions like that and or choosing certain colors or shapes in design etc can help foreshadow something about the characters. How that plays out is up to you, some characters are made extra muscular to make it seem like that the character is strong, whether he or she ends up being strong is up to you. certain color according to some studies mean certain things, like Red for Stop or rage etc, shapes like triangle or circles are used to show treachery or endearment respectively ETC, there are several studies that can help you decide and frankly sometimes, it can be mean something specifically to you where you make your own rules or it could be random too.
I don't get how you legit get same face syndrome. All you have to do is actually put in effort to create unique designs with a variety of facial features. You see different faces every single day, you should already have a massive mental library. If your objective is more diverse designs, it should not be that hard to achieve. That's just me tho, maybe some people just really fucking suck at distinguishing different facial features :/?
Make a reference folder for males and females, and fill them with several photos of different people and refer to them whenever you get stuck, that can definitely help.
Max Manga i seen alot of artists with this problem. I say it all start with the eyes. Once you can draw different style of eyes, then everything else kinds of circle around it.
I learned alot from this video in regards to how to avoid making your characters looking the same👍
Can't have a same face syndrome if you can't draw faces
Deadman best comment ever
Deadman that’s the spirit
True that
My genius… it’s sometimes frightening.
i have the opposite of this where i make a character for a comic and the face comes out different in each panel
it happens alot when the character is too detailed, try simplifying your character designs to 2-3 key features that u can focus on and overtime add more when you feel comfortable.
He has a video for that exact problem
so true
so tru
Just like me
how about cant draw same face again syndrome:)
look at the face you drew and copy the same features on different expressions until you have it down
IwotoN he already did that but all you have to do is measure the face and use guidelines
Watch this for that: ruclips.net/video/3r6EyECbkNY/видео.html
This helped IMMENSELY. I've been struggling with sameface for a while now (trying to make different nose/jaw shapes, but it doesn't work) but the library/avatar method is SO helpful! You've earned yourself a sub, thank you so much 💝

My problem isn't same face, it's different face. Trying to draw the same character and I haven't drawn him the same yet.
Congratulations 130,000+ subscribers.
I can't even figure out how to draw a different character in the same style but still different lol
I like your advice and the way you draw characters...I learned a lot. Thank you.
My problem is attractiveness
I try to vary my characters without the risk of making them ugly
Anyone else?
I am a big fan of Saturday am and apple black so thank you for teaching me few lessons so that one day I can join Saturday am one day
I drew an anniversary gift for my girlfriend and it was our moment of me asking her out and... I love it! I was trying it out while watching it and analizing my characters, so I hope I can draw more variety in the future!
If I can chime in. Another good tip is to read manga and comic series with various artstyles. Like: One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Kinnikuman, Golden Kamuy, Sin City, Hellboy, Bone, The Walking Dead
SOO glad i found your channel
Hey WhytManga can you make a video on the importance of clothes variation? Thanks for the help.

This was an impressive video, seeing diverse characters add life to anime and manga series (really anything) 😁! Also @JjajangHunter Your comment made my day 😂🤣!
Sometimes you can get away with it with subtle changes in the face and drastic differences in the hair/cosmetics
Like Yusuke Murrata with One Punch
Thank you so much! I bet your manga will be someday so good that it will have to appear in Netflix ( as anime adaptation)
Laura Faes That'd be sick

I dig this way of approaching this! :) I'm going to try to make a "library" of my style!
Your tutorial videos are helping me a lot.Thanks.
The only person to get away with having all of the characters look suspiciously similar is the artist behind claymore.

can you do a "how i use light and shadow-video"?
I struggle with this. They either have cute cheeks or they are basic.
Didn't even know I was early till I saw the ... * flavorful * comments.

I always draw sad and flat face
Thanks that helped me so much :)
I have a problem differentiating "same face syndrome" from "style" sadly
Can you do more dynamic poses and how to construct them poses.
