    Weekly Aldi shopper: I keep my Aldi quarter in its designated spot in my car at all times. Once I return my cart when finished shopping, the quarter goes right back in the car, in its spot.

    Ignore any snarky comments. You know what’s best for your children. No devices allows for creativity and sleeping in is always a good thing. But darn it Mindy, you’re making me want a Ninja Creami. Until next time, enjoy your concoctions and hopefully some relaxing days mixed in with your work.

      Right? I'm a GenX and my mom literally kicked me out of the house daily. I rode my bike, played with friends, and was home before the street lights came on. She neither knew nor cared where I was as long as I didn't get caught by Daddy. I raised myself on the mean streets of my Mayberry-esque small town. I survived. 😅

    Hey sweet friends. This week has been a rollercoaster of emotions. We had to say goodbye to our furbaby on Tuesday. I had my neurologist appointment Wednesday. My appointment went as well as expected. The tumor is most likely caused by my Crohn's. I have an MRI on August 13 and if nothing is wrong, I follow up with the neurologist on October 4. I ask y'all to please continue to pray for us. Thank you in advance. God Bless.

    Great idea about no technology until 2pm... I am medically retired and have gotten into such a lazy routine ( my kids are 28/25) one still lives at home but works full-time. I find my days hard and lonely, so I just sit around Binge watching shows. You have encouraged me to also try having no tv until after 12 or 1 pm and see how that goes. I also have more energy in the mornings to get things accomplished.

      Maybe try the crockpot more and they’ll like throwing the ingredients in the pot with some sauce & seasonings…but if they don’t want to do that, maybe throw some cold dinners and when they want a nice chicken dinner, you tell them they can bring home a rotisserie chicken! Back when my son was a teen/young adult years 21:02 ago, he wasn’t home enough when he had his car for me to do that enough or maybe I didn’t want to call him while he was busy.
      I think I made a proper dinner on weekends.

      @stephaniepapaleo9001 11 дней назад

      Me too! I have canvas/cloth a”work/junk bag” that I dumped out just to use at Aldi one time but if I forget bags or don’t want to purchase them, I wheel out my loose groceries (mostly in their “free” cardboard boxes and transfer the boxes into my car or if I have a tote in my car I toss them all in the tote in the backseat and it works when you’re rushing after work to bring groceries home!

    • @jaibaelynn
      @jaibaelynn 10 дней назад +2

      Pro tip: I work in retail at Publix. One of my favorite customer recommended to put your bags behind the passenger seat if you have a pocket! Or underneath the passenger seat. This way you’ll see it hopefully and grab them. Or I used to just write bags on my hand w/ a erasable marker lol 😅😊

    There were a couple of years that my son struggled with math when he was younger so we did packets/workbooks, Kahn Academy, etc for the many summers. Now he is doing amazing at math in high school and he has a 4.0 and no longer struggles. In fact, he has won academic awards and nominations for an engineering program. I very much think that helped so much in getting him where he is today. We also spent a great deal of time in the libraries when he was younger as well. The project this summer is studying so he can get his learners permit, yeah! Love your ideas!

  • @mariaonamission8719
    @mariaonamission8719 11 дней назад +1

    We have our son only access his device twice a week, even in the summer. The rest of the time, he’s reading, biking, doing his chores, etc. He’s aged out of most summer camps, so it’s not an option for us any more. He may attend a drop in type day camp for teens, where they have sports, movies, bowling etc, depending on the day, and it’s free, or a very minimal cost. Next year, we’re looking at a first part time job for him. We also both work out side of the home, and on some of those days, he is with my parents, where they apply the same rules. He also helps out over there with various chores. Like your kids, he has lots of fun as well - trips, camping, swimming, cookouts, etc. You’re doing an excellent job Mindy!

    Just a note about the Creami lid: I'm not sure what the lid on your model is like, but in the lid of the one I have is a gasket that MUST be removed to clean it properly, and the cleaning instructions say nothing about this. The gasket isn't glued down in any way so it's not 'waterproof' and liquid from your mixture or wash water WILL get under it, and if you don't pull it up and clean it and under it, you will get residue that you can't see, and as with any dairy product, that residue will result in major stink. So you may need a tiny tweezer or other small, blunt instrument (I have very short fingernails) to grab hold of the gasket to gently pull it up, and then once it's clean and try, just push it back into place.
    Two more tips: 1) The different functions seem to vary according to RPM, and this means differences in how much air is pumped in to your mixture. The 'lite ice cream' function seems to whip in the most air. I like to use the Gelato setting for everything, because the results are creamy and dense. I also use it for re-spinning instead of using the re-spin button. The re-spin does not correlate to whatever setting you've just used but is just a standard speed and whips more air in than I like. Also, sometimes your mixture will look a bit crumbly after a single process, but it may be creamier than it appears, so smoosh it down with the back of a spoon to test the texture, especially if, like me, you really prefer a denser finished product. 2) De-icing the containers before processing really helps prevent icy sides and bottom: place a small bowl or other higher-sided container in your sink and fill it with hot tap water, place your frozen, covered container in it for 1 to 2 minutes, ensuring that the hot water comes up to cover the top level of your frozen mixture.🍨

    So the joke at aldi has always been "you pay for your cart" when you don't because you get your quarter back. However you know how they swap your cart at checkout with the person in line ahead of you? Today when I went to go put my cart away in the rack, I realized there was no quarter in the cart. So I didn't get my quarter back and really did pay for it, lol. I have never seen that before. I also just left the cart pushed in but unhooked. I figure its a freebie for someone else.

      That happens to me a lot....and it's irritating bc I have a quarter keeper so I will always have a quarter with me however I also get a lot of free ones out in the parking lot so there is that 😂

      I did the same thing on the price for months. Sometimes I see the standard ones for about 120. Maybe there will be a good black friday sale this november.

    My Aldi will actually loan you a quarter if you forget yours. You just take it back to them after you return your cart. Don't know of that's other stores, but it's worth asking!

    YAY for studying Latin! I took only one year of Latin in high school, but it has been sooooo useful in my life! My daughter took four years of high school Latin, and I'm sure it helped her immensely in her science/physical therapy classes. Sadly, so few schools offer it any more. 😞 ~ Mindy, I think workers in Aldi will give you a quarter if you don't have one. I saw that happen just today at the Aldi I frequent.

      Yes, Ruthie is thinking about something in the health sciences like pharmacy, or chemical engineering. Latin comes in handy there.

    Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us. I think you help many Mother's out there. I enjoy your channel very much. I love the recipes and tips . I share your channel with everyone I meet. The ninja looks great and you can control what is in it. It is pricey but worth it with children.
