Not sure I understand your fist question, but they usually drop the price by no more than 10k from the initial ask price( there's obviously outliers) and if no one bids, they don't sell and try again the following week.

True, Bidvest prices are a little steep compared to other auction houses. But most of their cars are in great condition compared to most auction houses, so that comes as a big factor. But overall definitely steeper than other houses.

I don't think so since if no bids are made the car simply comes next week on the next auction. But if you were to offer same price as their initial ask if not more, I don't see why they wouldn't take it unless they strict on the auction but that'd be silly. But then again if you couldn't buy it during the auction then surely you can't buy it after, not much difference except you at a disadvantage if you decide to do it privately and somehow they budge cause you'll be overcharged.

Since most cars come back every weekend, people don't bid in hopes that the prices go lower since the cars have no bidders. They do more of a waiting game, sometimes it pays off and sometimes you lose to someone bidding early. I met a few people there who were collecting data week in week out just to get the best deal.
