Just made gravy from my Mississippi pot roast drippings using you’re video it was amazing! As I just turned 30 yesterday I can officially say learning to make quality gravy from you was the first cooking tip I learned in my thirties so thank you blessings!
The best video I've seen yet for this! I just used your guidance and made a really good gravy for my Pot Roast. The difference I think is that you emphasize the boil and a constant stir. Thanks so much!
Thank you, Miss Mouse, for teaching me the way of the gravy... I have learned so much from you! This afternoon, I made a top round (silverside) pot roast and while it was cooking, all I could think about was the gravy I was going to make from the drippings (oregano, thyme, rosemary, a whole bunch of garlic puree, diced yellow onion and 1 cup of red wine)... I used 2 tbsp cornstarch un a littlle more than ¼ cup red wine for the slurry (because tasty) and, after getting the drippings to a steady boil, added the slurry slowly and kept stirring throughout. You are so right about the stock needing to be on a steady boil and stirring well. I've made this in the past and tried to cheat (because I was running short of time) by not having the stock boiling properly or added the slurry too quickly, only to end up with a lumps. Today's effort is a success (thanks to you) because I took the time to get the correct boil and I kept the slurry moving once it was added... my husband (a confirmed carnivore) says that it's a very tasty gravy and can't wait to eat it with the roast! Thanks again! K and E London, UK (K by way of Vancouver, Canada)
Thank you so much for this! This was my 3rd pot roast and finally I got the gravy to do what I wanted it to do. And you kept me chuckling along the way. Most importantly, I learned the trick: get it HOT!
Thank you so much for this! My Mom taught me to make gravy in the roaster pan after Turkey, Ham ect.. ( most people say you can't make ham gravy). Since my Mom's passing I am responsible for the gravy on Holidays. I make my own roast in the slow cooker. I always thought you could make it from the drippings from that, but never had confirmation. Thank you!
I love your "For Beginners" series. It is perfect. The whisk made all the difference for me. I always thought "oh I can just use a spoon" but Paul introduced me to the whisk, bringing 2 generations of lumpy gravy to an end ;-) Brilliant idea to use the drippings from frying hamburgers to make gravy with! I had never thought of that. I'll plan a meal with gravy to follow burgers from now on so I won't waste those. :-) Tina
Can u make a video showing exactly what went into the Crock-Pot prior to cooking and also showing the transfer of the "drippings" into the stove top pot? I know u explained it, but I'm a beginner beginner and I'm still a little confused about what exactly is in that pot 🤔 I do love ur videos and ur gravy looks amazing.
I never thought of using the drippings from hamburgers to make gravy. I am so trying it next week when we have burgers. Thanks for the video. I learn so much from you. :)
Hey you beautiful, bandanna wearing, belle, you! Bubble, bubble... Great looking gravy!. Thanks for the video! I needed my Mouse Toes fix! I've been missing ya bunches!
It's simple and it's HOT in the kitchen when Mouse Toes takes us through Gravy Making 101!!! Thanks for sharing Hope your New Year is running along nicely. Cheers ShazBoo
I cooked a brisket in the crock pot with just 2 white onions , I didn’t add any broth or anything to the crock pot. I’m a first timer. Can I still make a gravy on the stove top with the meat drippings and I’ll just add the broth and wine and everything at this point?? May be a stupid question. I’ll just try it. Thanks!
Thank you, Sweet Lady. I am 67 and still cant make gravy. My flour and water mixture clots as soon as it hits the boiling broth. I am going to try again.
when you make the guar gum do it in a glass. A SMALL amount of the guar gum to the water. It will thicken in five minutes and then use a small amount of THAT in the gravy you are making. I think I use 1/8 tsp to a half cup of water.
I always lift my potatoes out of the crockpot at 3 hours...cut them in half again....then roast them with olive oil, rosemary, salt and pepper and throw in a bulb of garlic beside them in the roasting pan. Just that little extra, while I make my gravy!!! Nom Nom Nom😋😋😋😋😋😜😝

Thank you, Sweet Lady. I am 67 and still cant make gravy. My flour and water mixture clots as soon as it hits the boiling broth. I am going to try again.
Simosc2 you can use Wondra flour; it will NOT clump up.
Ok, how do you make gravy with guar gum? I did it, once. By the time I got it the right consistency, it was gluey. So I have not repeated it.
when you make the guar gum do it in a glass. A SMALL amount of the guar gum to the water. It will thicken in five minutes and then use a small amount of THAT in the gravy you are making. I think I use 1/8 tsp to a half cup of water.
thank you! I did NOT do that, lol. I made tasty sludge. will try this again. HEHE.

Do not stop trying to make gravy because it WILL happen for you and be fantastic. You can use Wondra Flour which will never clump up .

Is it hard to make gravy?
