New to cycling, just took it up this summer and I love it. Got a double puncture on my 5th outing, 5 cyclists stopped to help. I was definetly ill prepared. I was even offered an inner tube. Lots of good people out there. I am now prepared as best I can. You live and learn. I am 67 BTW.. never too to old to learn.
Nice job. I would just add a bit about nutrition and hydration. I had heard of bonking. I thought it was over stated with a bit of myth included. Can’t turn the pedals? Hah. Then it happened to me. If it wasn’t for a seasoned rider feeding me gels and frosted mini wheats I wouldn’t have made it back.
I should of bought a gravel bike instead 😏😁😁. Just buy a second set of wheels. One for road riding, one for off road/gravel. Unless you are ‘proper’ racing buy MTB clipless instead of road, but buy MTB ‘road styling’ shoes. More practical by far. However far your ride take fluid and easy to digest food such as an energy bar.
