I'm not sure what cinema magic goes into these. It's possible that at the critical moments, the actors got swapped out for sandbag dummies, or the props swapped out for styrofoam replicas and such. I actually stepped in a rusty nail once and it punctured my heel by a couple cm, i had it treated so it only took a couple weeks before i could walk normally again, however after a while a really big cluster of warts started to form where the wound was, and because it was so deep i had to have it surgically remove. all in all i had trouble walking for about a year and a half. always keep your wounds clean and be careful with rusty nails guys!
And when you realise Marv would have to walk with a punctured foot outside in the dirt and snow. Even if the nail was clean, the foot would be infected badly
I would love to see people's reactions at the hospital (I mean, the cops had to take them to the hospital right?) Like you're in there for, idk, some stitches or a bee sting, and then these two guys show up, so many broken bones, massive burns, every last inch of them covered in bruises and cuts, can't see anything because of their massive brain injuries. What were the doctors' and nurses' reactions to this? This is prime material for like an entire medical drama right here
The things they don't see can be attributed to tunnel vision. They're in a fight, they're seething mad, and in pain. They aren't thinking critically, they're responding instinctually, nobody else would have seen that wire in that situation
This is a common thing to do without laughing. Doctors really love these conversations. They'll just go off about trauma injuries and recovery and needed treatment.

Idk man 97% of these injuries don't look like they are actually severe enough to cause death. Must be the reason why she didn't say "death" 💁♂️
Not sure if 97%,but Harry should have ended like Héctor Salamanca after that toilet explosion
@@nikolaivikturski4557 The brick to the head looks pretty mortal to me.
Dang just listening to her and watching her reaction, you know she has seen some stuff. Huge Respect to those in the medical field.
When Mark Rober tested the paint can to the face the dummy was nearly decapitated soo yeah I think "pretty devastating" is a bit of an understatement lol Also the comments about their vision 10/10 I love that explanation
I think the movie injury would be a bit less severe since Mark was using a full can of paint and Kevin's seemed to be mostly empty. It would still be pretty brutal though.
Did he use an actual test dummy or just a mannequin?
yeah i looked it up and hangman's fractures are often fatal so i think the way she worded it made it sound like he couldve lived but that's because she knows the survival rate of hangman's fractures.
Did Mark Rober do it too? I saw Vsauce’s video which decapitated the mannequin and Rober was featured but he didn’t provide any concluding words.
What about the paint itself? I would imagine all those fumes would suffocate him
1. shout out to Dr. Onishi for this incredible breakdown of the most infamous trauma conga line in movie history.
2. shout-out to the stunt actors who had to do *all those stunts* to only LOOK painful, cuz there's a lot going on in them.
Infamous trauma conga line, I love it
I'm not sure what cinema magic goes into these. It's possible that at the critical moments, the actors got swapped out for sandbag dummies, or the props swapped out for styrofoam replicas and such. Or the fall is real but they actually have a nice soft landing mattress offscreen, then the camera cuts to the next scene that shows them already on the floor.
But it's really just my wild guess.
@@n484l3iehugtil watch movies that made us on Netflix. They actually do those falls. No doubles, no mattress. They actually get hurt. Kinda ruined the movie for me a bit.
@@ThatGuateKid I was gonna say the same thing!
@@Acceleratedpayloads A trained stunt person knows how to make it look bad without it actually being that bad. For example, the paint can was certainly not really hitting that person while full, and may not have actually hit at all.
It's such a nice change for someone to talk about all the infection possibilities with their injuries, not just 'Marv's dead' or 'Harry's dead'.
I like both takes

Love those videos.
This is prime material for like an entire medical drama right here
gangfight?
“what. happened to you.”
“i tried to break into a house and this kid booby trapped the entire house.”

The things they don't see can be attributed to tunnel vision. They're in a fight, they're seething mad, and in pain. They aren't thinking critically, they're responding instinctually, nobody else would have seen that wire in that situation
Marv saw it though, he jumped over it when he saw Harry fell. That's why he took a leap and caught Kevin's ankle.
@@Samuel152yeah, cause Harry tripped over it lol
I could listen to her all day. I dig her very no nonsense honest delivery. She keeps it 100% Appreciate that
I like how the doctor is able to discuss all this with a straight face.
I'd love to see the outtakes.
well thats probably part of her training, she probably just is able to do that
although naturally it is a funny movie tbf
This is a common thing to do without laughing. Doctors really love these conversations. They'll just go off about trauma injuries and recovery and needed treatment.
I have a retinal disease so the jokes about their visual field are really working for me. They really demonstrate how I would be as a burglar (:
Free tip: never buy lego for your kids
I hope I'm not prodding too much, but would it happen to be RP? My mom's got it, so I'm just a bit curious.

The broken glass trap always made me wince. 😨I’ve stepped on glass before and it hurts!😢
She undersold that one as well, since it was *after* stepping on the nail - glass would now be inside that puncture wound...
Honestly, I'm amazed he's ever able to walk again on that foot.
@@DanStaal Ditto. I know when I’ve had a shard of glass in my foot, I couldn’t stand it.
I paper-cringed when he stepped on it.
I could listen to Annie talking about horrific injuries in a deadpan voice all day.
I know she's describing these horrific injuries like its a recipe for a cake 😂
Ikr I’m literally cooking and listening she’s very calming and educational
I never tire of these analyses on Harry and Marv - I know they'd be dead several times over, but you truly don't realize *HOW* bonkers these stunts are until you see a breakdown.
Man, I love Dr. Onishi!! Her humor coupled with that medical knowledge... wife goals!
Remember when she was just a resident 🥺 Look how far she’s come! I’m so proud of you!!
I really want to know at which point Harry and Marv would realistically be dead. I feel like the iron to the head would kill a person.
I think the iron or the brick would be enough
The brick would kill almost anyone. That's probably the most surefire kill in the movies
@@Azginarth wouldn't something heavy like an iron be enough to break Marvin's neck? I'm very surprised she didn't mention that, in theory, Marvin would likely be dead or too incapacitated to continue after the iron fell on him.
IMO probably around the middle of the first movie if I'm being generous
What about About. Harry Slipping off the steps. He's an older guy too
I love how part way through she was like I admire how these guys are alive and still up for going after Kevin.
With that being said, we can all agree that Marv and Harry are both immortal, right?
They're Wolverine and Sabretooth whose lost memories because of too much regeneration process 🤣
Marv survived being electrocuted and Harry survived landing on that car. They are indeed gods
They are full on Michael Meyers unkillable dude

As a medical coder, I’d love to read Dr Onishi’s treatment notes. So many external causes discussed.
If you really think about how silly this is (the movies) and how SUPER professional and informative Annie is... just wow! We want more action movie reviews with her!
Yes! Kind of like how Mythbusters broke down action sequences and well...myths. What's the prep and planning like in these sequences. Props to Jackie Chan!
Her coolness is what makes this video funny. She's analyzing everything. I cracked up at the little cars on the floor that they couldn't see because of a suspected head trauma xD
Wow, props to the actors for taking all these injuries for the movie, really dedicated to the role!
I heard they both even got sentenced to 3 years in prison for breaking and entering as commitment to the role.

Even as a kid, I remember thinking some of these injuries could kill someone.
I love how serious she is
The scene of Marv stepping on a nail always makes me cringe so badly. Like of all the injuries I really felt that one.
I love how every time I see a medical expert react to the injuries these two suffer they all agree that Kevin must be some kind of secret sadistic psycho.
People often forget that Marv and harry ain’t no saints themselves, by the end of the first movie and all the second they decided to kill Kevin
Kevin is just defending himself. If they weren't trying to break in they wouldn't get any of these injuries. He's not holding them hostage. Leave Kevin alone people.

I love how when they both get crushed by the toolbox, she only mentions it being a nasal bone fracture because every bone must already be broken
So, what she's really saying is...
... Harry and Marv are actually cartoon characters.
It's the only way to explain how they actually survive this much abuse.
It’s a sort of Bizarre World version of Wile E Coyote-Roadrunner.
@@jenniferclark9842 yes haha
I was thinking "They're undead". Like one of Kevin's traps actually killed Marv, then Harry, or the other way around. So now the burglars are reduced to a couple of Erik-Draven-like revenants, with only by their relentless thirst for revenge imbuing their corpses with a convincing mockery of life.
But "They're cartoon characters" works too. ;-)
Or supervillains.
This is considered a "live-action cartoon," like the National Lampoon and PeeWee movies
Fun fact about pigeons at the end, one of those diseases they carry can permanently blind you. Happened to someone in my hometown and they made the news.

4:20 "Harry and Marv really should be suspicious that they are invading the house of some sort of psychopath". strong but true. This version of Kevin is a lovable psycho.

I'm a huge horror fan and often not that affected by gore anymore, but a lot of the injuries in these movies, especially the brick throwing scenes really get me (in a great way). It always looks so painful. Everytime I watch these movies I think that they should be dead at least like fifty times already lol.

Omg shes making me realize i def should have gone to the hospital a couple times for injuries over the past few years lol so many things in our bodies can go wrong
Props to her for playing it straight the whole way through instead of just saying “are you kidding? he would be dead!” after some of these.
Annie! Great to see you back and that you are safe and well.
It hurts more when she explains it
Her calm explanation of these injuries is what cracks me up!
Imagine if this video was in place of end credits in the actual movie 😂
What an erudite and learned person. Such exceptional knowledge of the human body. No doubt she is an excellent surgeon. Perhaps Wired could have the good doctor make some basic CPR, emergency response videos for general public to assist. Also love the sleigh bell as Psycho knife slash.
About pellet guns: Don't underestimate them! As a teenager i got shot frontally in the neck with one. Had to get emergency surgery, woke up on the ICU 24hours later and the surgeon told me it was a one in a million miracle i survived.
