Looks like a great piece of kit for the price. Not sure I'd swap out my Rode Podcaster, but if I hadn't purchased yet you make a great case for this. At the price point is tricky to argue.
Sound comparisons are always tough. Slight fluctuations in your voice between takes with each mic can be deceptive, but you did a fine job of replicating the same audio each time.
Short of recording simultaneously and having each mic plugged into identical kit with identical settings it's difficult to replicate things perfectly...

Thanks for this informative video! :) I also bought one yesterday but whenever I record or when I start playback, there are crackling/popping sounds. I’m not sure if it’s a mic, USB connector or laptop incompatibility issue. Not sure how to resolve, hope you can help me.

Just keep pushing, man! As you go, you’d realize it only gets better time after time.
I use my iPad to produce all my videos, so it’s an app - LumaFusion.
For the camera, not necessarily super amazing camera. I use an entry level camera at first. In this video, I was using that entry level camera.
Just make sure you’d do the due diligence to study how to use your gear.
After all, the process is super fun ☺️

Works with both. Recorded my audio in this video with the microphone connected to my iPad Pro. However, when I tried using it with my iPhone, it didn’t work. It worked tho on Android phones.

That should not be the case. Coz it basically like an earphone/headphone with a mic.
I use in all my online meetings and I guess the same principle applies.

Haven’t tried the Fifine. Between the two Maonos, I’d recommend the PM422. Cleaner and clearer recording.

Hi! What specific adapter are you using to connect the mic to your iPad? and what iPad version are you using? I have this mic but I can't use it in my iPad air 4 when I go to Zoom or use my screencapturing app. The mic stops working when I start opening the apps.

So, noob to microphones here... For the headphone jack, does it only play your voice back to you? Or can you have all your PC audio play through it for playing games and what not?
You’ll hear everything. Your voice and all that’s playing in your computer.

This could be one of the best options for that price range. However, recording both vocals and guitar might not be the usage for this mic. For vocals alone, it’s great. Then you might want to line-in your instrument for better production quality.
This might seem like a stupid question, but I’m pretty new to this… if I had the headphones connected to the mic to monitor my own voice, how would I hear a Skype call for recording a podcast? Is it possible to hear all participants as well as my own voice, or is this simply for monitoring my myself? I’m wondering if I’d be better saving £10 and buying the PM421 which doesn’t have the headphone Jack. Thanks!
Nope. You’ll hear your voice, your calls, and even if you have music playing in your computer.

Late but the 422 has a 3.5mm headphone jack, the 421 does not but both mic internals are identical.

Yes. That’s because of the mechanical knob of the microphone.

PM422 has better noise reduction than the AU903.
And also, richer midtones. Medyo bassy kasi si AU903 for me.
Also, accessories that comes with it (boom arm, pop shield, etc.)

Where do you record? iPad din ba? Kasi the same happened sa akin. Gusto ko na din siya ibalik nung una. Pero na realize ko na masyado lang malakas yung gain kaya siya sabog. So I went to Garageband, set the gain level to minimum tapos mid lang sa mic mismo. And ito na yun :) sana makatulong.

Hahaha this microphone, in my opinion, has noise reduction already. Try to hear the difference between this and the AU-903. Especially with the windscreen cap, it really helps lessen the noise. But then again, it depends on how loud the singing is hahaha
For your second question, I didn’t do any editing at all. I intentionally do that in all of my mic reviews so the viewers will get the real sound quality.

Nice video! Question lang sana, kung laptop ba ang gagamitin na device, kailangan pa ng adapter? Sabi kasi sa other reviews. Hindi ko sigurado kung USB B ang dulo na kinakabit mismo sa microphone, tapos USB A ang kabila para sa laptop kaya hindi ko pa siya mabili. Haha thanks!

Check out Maono PM461TR. Last I checked, it’s just 1,300.00. Not as good as the PM422 but could get the job done.

Hello! I haven’t really tried. But since it acts as a soundcard already, meaning, it works just like an earphones/headphones with a mic. So I guess it will work just fine with any app. 😊
