I have a 2000 impala and have wanted to do this so badly, you should show more about how you converted the drive train and everything else that you stuck in that.
dude ive had two 03 impalas i wanted to do the same thing. the same way. you are the first person ive seen do this in all the years of searching videos on youtube. i have seen sideways ls1 swap
Really nice build from what I've seen. I'm in Ohio too. My dad died and I'm working on getting his turbo ls 300zx back on the road. Hope to see you out there some day.
No I got a 2011 their good cars but at our age I turn 17 a week from now it’s jus not a worth modding it and theirs a lot more fabrication involved and if you dk what you’re doing it will be a headache. For jus a rwd swap would take serious work and effort. I heard some guy took a older ss model and the way he converted it to rwd was he took the same rails off a gen 2 Camaro cuz they kind of looked the same and he said he made it work. I’m not saying don’t go for it but if you don’t have another car I’d jus forget abt it for rn
I just watched him on someone else's channel and finally found his channel, glad he made a channel to show this beast off, can't wait till I get my twin Garret turbo's that I'm putting in my 2002 impala to come in so I can have a something to show off,all it has right now is a cam out ls3 with a straight pipe exhaust and a couple of bolt on here and there, been building this car for two years, only because I blew up the original motor
please do a video of whats involved with this rwd swap/back half.(time involved, parts involved, money involved, tools involved, fabbing welding skill involved)..... amount of room needed, type of math/fabbing etc..... seems like there are lots of people don't quite understand what is truly involved time and cost wise and think its easy,i know different
Yes I will definitely do one here soon. There is alot of people that don't understand how much time and money that goes into something like this. Thanks for the comment
glad i finally found your channel! i saw your car in another guy's channel and was immediately interested to know more. I have an '01 impala that im rebuilding the transmission on with some stuff from zzperformance. Your build gave me the idea to do a similar set up when the engine eventually gives out on me. It's getting swapped with a 2jz and getting converted to rwd and manual when the time comes.
Could be those AC actuators that’s draining battery..I have 08 impala and when the actuators go bad they come on for a minute with the ticking and go off..but they do this without the car being on constantly
Like everyone else, I'm interested in the mechanics of your build. I have my front suspension off my 2006 LT to rebuild it all, and I bought a LS4/5.3 to swap in place of my LZ9/3.9, I intend to go all wheel drive and figure on using a transfer case from a volvo on a transaxle to send power to a rear unit, considering the LS4 is specifically factory altered to be traverse mounted (shortened crankshaft, bellhousing bolt pattern for transaxle). one of my biggest questions is how you altered the steering. On my 2006, the rack and sway bar are between the engine and firewall about halfway up as well as the back side of the engine cradle. Would love a good bottom side view for ideas.
My steering rack is now under the front of the motor. But if you want to do awd ls4 easiest way to do that would be get a awd 4t65e out of like a Buick rendezvous
@@pushedtothelimitsracing2090 thanks, I knew buick had a couple awd vehicles, but didnt know they used a 4t65e as a trany, or what models. Looked into some newer chevy's but had tranies that I didnt think would pair up. They electronics complicate things much more than the last time I built a car (80's). I would assume I could use the rear drive system as well, maybe beef it up some and I think most were predominately front drive with rear as an assist. I would have to change that to more full time power to rear. Thought about just taking a 1/2 ton chevy drive train and LS and just build my own subframe to mount my body on, lol. I won't be going after the power you have under your hood, most likely 400 hp or so, using parts from transverse set ups most likely wouldnt handle big HP numbers anyhow. Thanks for the tip, and you have inspired a lot of people from what I've seen in your comments, hell, take a business loan and start up a fab shop and sell all-in-one-kits for the conversion, lol
