The most underrated band of all time. I grew up during the 60s and loved that music including the early 70s. 80s music was OK but then the 90s rolled around and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It seemed like every week a new tune was playing that stirred my soul. Then Collective Soul showed up and they became my favorite. I can be happy just listening to Collective Soul and the Stones all day. I appreciate and enjoy listening to most music genres but when it comes to rock and roll I will always love Collective Soul!!!
I agree with Kit. I'm so nostalgic about the 90's. It was the best time to grow up and was the best decade for music, movies, tv shows and video games. Even with all the technology we now I would trade it all if I could go back to the 90's.
The 1990s were a time of endless possibilities, it was the age of the modern internet, the cell phone, music and movies and tv shows were being created by our generation, the youth of America was taking over everything. So it was natural for rock bands like Collective Soul to write good music and prove that in an age of jadedness and shallow popular culture, sometimes, good art can come from anywhere :)
I was born in June 1999, 4 months after this performance. And I couldn't agree more... I only lived for 6 months of the 90s as an infant and yet it's so easy to tell why the 90s KICK ASS!!!
Thank you for uploading this. I managed to watch some late night TV from US here in Ireland but never saw CS despite loving their music, especially Dosage. Watching it for the first time in April 2024 and loving it 🎉🙌🏻💜
It's Dec.24, 2017 and I got the CD and heard this song for the first time and I felt so much emotion that I wept. This song is that powerful. Thanks, Ed and Collective Soul. Love you guys.
I remember sitting in my basement and listening to Dosage when it came out in '98....I was a senior in H.S. I still think it's the best album of the 90's.
My children's musical tastes budded out and really developed during the '90s. Also, there was a station in the Dallas-Fort Worth area called m e r g 93.3, and they started streaming, and I started listening to them streaming early 2000s when my job moved. This was one of those songs and one of those bands. Lots of great music, and some alternate versions they would play on the streaming site that you really couldn't hear on the radio at the time.
I love music that I can still enjoy just as much all these years later as when it was a new song. songs always bring back vivid memories of what I was driving and doing at that time. I was in high school when this song came out. I remember driving around w friends, windows down, sunroof open and blasting the music… wondering what life had in store. Fast fwd 20+yrs and I’m doing well but I’ve lost friends and loved ones along the way, life’s ups & downs but music is one of the ONLY things that can take me back to a carefree time in my life
100% Ed is the one that has always been the main soul of the band. He is the one that came up with the riffs that Ross played and Jesse continues to rip. Ed has done a great job at putting together lineups and the current one is really good. There is a reason that Ross has been nothing without Ed.
2020,right in the middle of the corona virus worldwide quarantine, we all have a long way to run, sitting here in the world I know thinking about how I should be wasting time. I hope everyone you know is well
@@bigeclipse718 Then they are never getting back together again. A betrayal like that is unforgivable. But still Ed needs to understand that he married the wrong woman. So now I know why is he a single parent.
Even with Ed being sick and not being able to sing normally, this is my favorite live version of those I've seen. It's such a perfect arrangement for the band, everyone complimenting the whole. And while the Home concert's full orchestra is nice, Ross is like a one-man orchestra of metal teeth and buzzing bees. That's all this song needs.
Watching newer concerts with their new guitarist, it's like the solos are missing notes and the songs feel like they are played 2x faster.. shame they don't talk anymore 😞
Saw them Live at the Modjeska Theater in Milwaukee, 1st stop of their tour for the new CD Dosage. Tried to get a pass to the stage room for them to sign my CD, did not happen. I saw them Free because I was Security there :) I knew the theater owner.
I was going thru my old MP3 collection and came across an mp3 of run that didn't have any metadata. Trying to figure out which performance it could have been from, I tried this video on my first attempt. It was the correct one. Thank you live2cd for posting this almost 8 years ago :)
There are so many great pop/alternative rock songs that came out during the late 90s that are so overlooked and rare since most altrock radio turned into rap/metal stations and wouldn't play these type of songs anymore. Some bands that come to mind, Splender, Stir, Dovetail Joint, Radford, etc. If anyone knows anymore I would really appreciate knowing more. I was lucky to grow up with WHTG 106.3 who didn't go the rap/rock way like most other alternative stations focused on during this time
I remember watching this when it originally aired. My wife at the time burst into tears when he sang "I've got a long way to run". I asked her what was was wrong. She pointed at Ed and said "John Lennon"

I don't care what YEAR it is I'm still in the 90s
I hear you. 👂 I was so carefree and young
My local AM station played this today, the first time I ever heard it. At 61, I’m now a fan.
Welcome aboard friend !!😎
My son introduced me to the music of Collective Soul about 10 years ago. I can't get enough of them. Fabulous music.
I still play this song at least once a week. There is so much nostalgia and angst.
The best simple solo. Miss u Ross

yup......i think a lot of folks 33/ 43 feel the same.......
80's and 90's, the best era for music with sense

Dosage......a masterpiece, definitely a deserted island album.
Agreed.

Beautiful, such a quiet, soft, reassuring song. We've all got a long way to run.

The sound of Ed's guitar is hot and so is his voice. This was def his prime
The most underrated band.
There's something missed in Collective Soul now. The sound of Ross guitar make the main soul of Collective Soul... We miss you Ross
Ross couldn't keep his d*ck in his pants,

My favorite CS song.

Such, a Great band blessed with purity and bliss a modern day beatles " they still haven't gotten there do.
This video was the first time I ever heard them....haven't looked back.
Great song by a great band! ❤
Love those amazing little green glasses and suit Ed ❤
Ross: I sincerely hope that one day you and Ed make peace and get back together.
We fans deserve this…..
Agreed. He messed up big time. I wonder if he ever tried to and Ed just doesn't want anything to do with him...which could you blame him?
@@bigeclipse718 i don’t really know what Ross did. I only know that Ed can’t see him. What a painful tragedy for us true fans.
@@chaleco82 Ross slept with his wife back then and then after Ed and her split up he married her! They have since also divorced.

It's a PRS Mccarty Archtop from the late 90s. It's super hard to find.

Shane Evans Rules!
I totally miss his drumming CS really hasnt been quite the same since he left in 2003 Not to mention since Ross Childress left in 2001 as well
dadadruma Yeah Ross is missed, but he didn't leave he was fired because of his affair with Ed's wife.
Music for running 13 to 24miles long run training for the marathon.
Fantastic.
agree!
Its funny how Ed Roland starts playing the guitar intro to Run right after the Tonight Show curtains go up :) hahaha

Why not show more respect for Ed?
Not the same without Shane and ross.
Was this Ed's John Lennon period?
or Bruce Springsteen?
what happened to the 90s
If I could only turn back the clock. Alas. Fuck it.
Why can’t they bury the hatchet with Ross .... they are on another level with him
Deidra Dunn I believe its a Paul Reed Smith hollow body
RC is CS
The lyrics click!!
wish I knew what the hell kinda guitar the lead singer is playing??
Late response, but it is a Paul Reed Smith McCarty Archtop, I believe. Very thick hollow-body.
Awesome 👍
ED!
