Listen to Collective Soul's The World I Know, if you haven't already. It is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Also, The Maze, by Manchester Orchestra. Beautiful on its own, but when you read the meaning behind the lyrics of The Maze, especially if you are a dad, it becomes a perfect song.

Jakarta, Indonesia mid 1999. i was working as a contractor for a petrol refinery in a remote village, this song would accompany me while working long hours. Those were the days.
The teens in the orchestra are now forty years old! My oldest son turned me on to CS thirty years ago. I saw them four years ago, this song was their finale and it was so very emotional. My youngest son is friends with a relative of the Rolands, we were able to hang out a little while with Ed in his tour bus.
I also have some great but very sad memories associated with this from my younger years. It’s bittersweet, my friend. You’re not alone. Thanks for sharing.
I watched them in concert and this was the last song they played, as they played the end of the song they each walked off the stage separately playing it as they left. What an incredible exit to a concert!
I will be seeing the same CSoul/Hootie and Blowfish show in August in Atlanta, just bought my 4th row seats today. Saw CSoul 3 days ago from 3rd row in Las Vegas at the Palms Pearl Auditorium and they put on a fantastic show, finishing with this song and walking offstage together with Ed playing it on Accoustic. Lot of good videos from Vegas already posted on RUclips. Like I say, one of the best bands of all time that no one has heard of, but they recognize at least a couple songs when played.
I been looking for this song for 15 years. Never knew the song title or whom sang it. Finally I was watching Varisty Blues and there it was! Like a sign from God!

Love the high school orchestra, makes the song 110% better! Also bought this CD "Dosage" when it came out in 1999, and they started their tour for this CD. Their first stop was in the city where I live, and I got in Free to see them on stage because I volunteered to be part of the security team. I knew the owner of the theater where they started the tour!! It is known that Collective Soul liked to play smaller venues versus huge ones.
