I have made several perfumes using essential oils, tried blending with vodka, vodka and carrier oil (almond or jojoba), just carrier oil, witch hazel, witch hazel and oil...I believe that those with just oil have longer staying power of the scent. I just put drops of essential oils (top, middle and base note oils) in a little glass bottle, shake, wait 24 hours, if I like it I finish it with the dillutant. Have not tried everclear, will do so. I get charts of top, middle and basenotes from pinterest posts, also, suggested blends. So much fun, and some of my blends I think are retail worthy. Also, the oil diluted ones can double as deodorant. One blend that worked out well was 20 drops orange, 50 drops cedarwood and 30 drops patchouli. (blend with coconut oil and arrowroot powder and this makes a good unisex deodorant). I share your passion.
You know if you mix jojoba oil with fragrance oil or essential oil doesn’t it come out as oily when you spray, if it does for you how to you make it like a normal spray. Would you add alcohol to it?
@@shahkalam600 Hi - I use witch hazel or a bit of water to change the jojoba, but I should not have said jojoba - it is not a regular oil but it's a kind of wax. try grapeseed oil of olive oil. Also, oil based perfume is for dabbing on, not spraying, for spray cologne alcohol with a bit of water is best, body spray you can just combine essential oils with witch hazel.
Thank you! I'm not interested in making my own scent right now. You were helpful! Now I need to learn how to make the lotion. The scents on the sites are really concentrated! Thanks
My husband got me La Vie Este Belle for Christmas and it's become my favorite ❤️ I just ordered some Jo Malone dupes so I'm excited to give this a shot!
This is fantastic! I am going to go check out that website now. I really appreciate you sharing this bc I would have never thought to make my own perfumes! How awesome! Thanks again, Beautiful! ~ Nona
Thanks for sharing! I'm a guy, but I've been doing this with men's designer dupes and am quickly becoming addicted. I find Zoha Aroma to be of great quality as well. Honestly, better than the designer frag in some cases.
Dena Michele Yes, I have tried a few different sources and really like Zoha. Although I am not sure whether they make it or are a reseller of another shop. Keep in mind that the prices on their site are in CAD as they are based in Canada, and the conversion rate is in our favor.
That’s crazy! Exotic fragrances is where I buy mine. I grew up where they are located so when I take a trip to manhattan, I usually spend about $75 to $100 easily. Thank god I came across your channel because I always wanted to do my own perfume from my oils to sell or for my own personal use. I think u are going to create a monster😂😂😂. I can’t wait to get mine
So I'm assuming these perfumes smell authentic and don't carry that strange "designer imposter" after-smell? These are just dupes using comparable ingredients, minus the fancy label?
Exactly like the real deal... in some cases even better than the real version.....I have a huge collection of Victoria’s secret perfumes, and I love the scents but they just do not last long on me at all. So by making my own, I can add a little more concentrated scent and they last for hours, unlike the real ones!
Dena Michele I’m just having trouble figuring out which some scents are. Some aren’t labeled as what are they trying to dupe. I’m looking for Estée Lauder’s Bronze Goddess and one is labeled Goddess but I’m not sure if that’s it...
Thank you soooo much love for this video... I'm ready to order my fragrances but I have a quick question. Are these fragrances oils? Is that what I look under? Just want to make sure 😊
Does it smell the same as the original perfume? Forgive my ignorance, im new to this, but have a little bit left of what was my deceased mothers' favorite perfume left, which they dont make anymore, and was hoping to be able yo do something like this, to share it with others, but of course woukd like for the scent to be changed as little as possible.
I’m afraid if you dilute actual perfume, it might make it weak. I’m diluting the fragrance oils, which are concentrated. You might do a search for the name of her perfume, and add fragrance oil after the name, to see if you can find someplace that sells the fragrance oil. I love that you have hee perfume… I still have my Grandmother’s too.
One more question: the oils I'm looking at say they are 100% concentrated. What level of concentration are the oils you're using. That first roller ball you showed @3:03 - you can use that directly on your skin??
Hey there!! Thanks for watching!! Yes, if you buy them from someplace where they are considered a body oil, then it’s more than likely already diluted... and can be put directly on your skin. The 100% concentrated version that you have will need to be diluted... otherwise it will probably not even smell right. I’m using 100% concentrated versions too. Depending on where you get them from, Usually roller balls are already body oils, so by me adding the diluting to them, I’m making them less than 33% concentration... so it depends on how strong the scent is as to whether I dilute it 1:3 or not in those cases. If it’s subtle then I won’t dilute it much. I’m just not a fan of the body oils in roller balls because they feel oily on my skin.
Thank you so much for your video! I’m a perfume lover😍😍😍and want to start making my own perfume. So are this like eu de perfume or Extrait de perfume? Also what’s the sillage and projection? Can you smell it all day? Do you need a perfume fixative to make it last longer?? Thank you in advance!
uuuuuh....hhmmmmm....well...ok peeps....so.... I found this video about 2 week ago and was soooo stoked that I went shopping at exotic frags online immediately. I bought "inspired by Daisy" and "inspired by Daisy love". I bough 1 oz of each and the alcohol. so 22 bucks total. then I went to go check out and shipping was a whopping 18 bucks. I spent 10 bucks on Amazon for a couple of glass bottles. So 50 bucks total for dupes. When the frags arrived I would say they smelled sorta similar but not exact ..like maybe a 5-6/10 on exactness scale..so take their word for it when they say "inspired by". I tried diluting with alcohol and waited a couple of days....again...KINDA similar but kinda sorta not. So I'm not sure it was worth it. If I could go back in time I would have spent the extra $40 bucks on fragrance net or fragrance x or whatever and just bought both the real deal there. I did notice this was done a year ago and google reviews for this company used to be good but has gone down recently. But I do love watching Dena...she is super fun to watch! Lover her! She posted a more updated perfume video lately....I would recommend that one.
Thanks for this video, great tips. Do you know if any other ingredients can be added to increase longevity?? I currently put around 25g(ml) oil to 75ml Perfumers Alcohol in my perfume bottles. Is there anything else you have tried that's worked to increase the lasting smell of the fragrance on you? Would be great to know! Thanks again
I'm trying to start my perfume line and this is the best video I have found. I do have some formulas that I don't want to share here but if I could share some with you via email so you can try.
Oh it’s super strong. Of course different scents are stronger in nature than others, and on those I have diluted even more and they last all day. If it’s a soft mild scent to begin with then I might not dilute it as much... maybe 30% or even 50/50.
Hey. I know you kind of already went over it, I just sent to make sure before buying any, the ones from anandacorp, they’re under “perfume body oils” right?? I just get so nervous before I buy things 😆 if I get a 1oz and do half of it and half of everclear in a bottle do you think it would still be potent? Thanks!!! 😄🤍🤍
Oh yes!! For sure... you might can get way with doing 1/2 ounce of the perfume oil to one ounce of the everclear... that would still be 33%, and a fancy perfume is 30% max. Sometimes I wing it depending on how strong the scent it.
I realllllly love La Vie Est Belle... its my favorite... Juicy Gold, Black Opium... Gucci Bamboo is good, aqualina pink sugar, Prada Candy, J'dore... those are some of my faves. I am wearing True Religion today.. Love, Hope and Denim, and it's really nice. Soft and sweet and light scent.
Thank you, I'm going to go to Sephora to smell some of those. I'm so excited to start making perfumes! I even found some sources that sell a dupe of Bobbi Brown's Beach & Comptoir Sud Pacifique's Coco Vanille & Vanille Abricot. Perfect for summer! Can't find Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess or Chanel Chance eau Fraiche, but I just started looking. If you can't tell, I'm a perfume enthusiast like yourself. I can usually tell if I will like a perfume by just by reading the notes.
Dena Michele Mind you I haven’t ordered anything from this website yet, but they seem to have a lot of choices and good reviews. www.saveonscents.com/index.php/cPath/291_292
Hi, have you ever tried Ananda's fragrance oils? I see you recommend them for the Mr Bens perfume dilutant but not necessarily the fragrance oils. Can you offer in comparison of the Ananda oils to the exotic fragrance oils? Please and thank u.
Hi, do you know where I can get an SDS and IFRA for both companies fragrance oils? Nothing was listed on the website and I called and they said they don’t have that info.
The Mr Ben’s has a preservative in it, but they last as long as my perfumes. All perfumes will change and go bad if they get too old. I usually toss mine when the scent is no longer good. I have some on the shelf that are two years old.
If I used too much alcohol...can it be fixed? I used the 1\3 bottle the oil came in. So....I used 1 bottle of oil to 3 same size perfume alcohol....where did I mess up????
I bet you didn’t mess up too bad... you just put one extra bottle of alcohol than I did, so your scent is weaker. I do the 1/3 bottle of oil to two of those filled with alcohol, whereas you did three.
Hello dena. Does this really work ? I’m a bit confused about the website. It asks me the quantity of the concentration that I want to by. But it says “for 3 oz, 4 oz, etc”. Does this mean with or without the solution ? I’m looking to make personalized bottles for a bridal party.
I usually buy the ounce bottle and add another ounce of the mr ben’s or everclear to give me a 50% concentration of scent... if the scent is slight or lighter... most of the perfumes I make, I dilute the fragrance oil to one part of it to two parts Mr Ben’s, giving me 33% scent. If you do that for one ounce of fragrance oil you will end up with 3 ounces of perfume (or two ounces if you just want it 50% but I don’t do that very often.) They get stronger with age too, so 33% or 1:2 is a great formula. Hopefully that helps!
I think what you’re asking me is when it asks 2 ounces or 4 ounces, that is concentrated fragrance oil, not yet diluted. So if you bought 4 ounces then you would make 8 ounces or 12 ounces of perfume by adding your mr bens or everclear (50% scented or 33%). Most store bought perfumes are 20% scented, to give you an idea.
I use scentsational shoppe or exotic frgrance. I alternate based on availability and exotic frgrance is a tad cheaper and they have discounts every so often
Yes I think it is, but something about not being able to ship perfumers alcohol so they must add a little something too it. Everclear and Vodka also work well.
they don't smell like either to be honest. they are oils but they smell majorly faint. I think they have added a ton of "carrier oil" to them. with the cost of shipping and other supplies to turn it into a perfume it was definitely not worth the price. they don't even smell like "perfume" or even essential oils...or even synthetic oils for that matter! they smell odd and nothing like the original in my opinion. if you buy these expecting them to smell like dupes I think you will be disappointed.
I know this video is like a year old, but it is the best, lifesaver for a perfume junkie. I just ordered my supplies and I’m jumping in.
Thank you!!! You’ll love it and be hooked!!
im doing this for my mom for mothers day! i'm excited to see how it smells and how she likes it!
Just started this new hobby during quarantine just so much fun love it
It’s super fun!
