Interesting question! I never noticed mine getting hot, however, I ended up selling mine since we moved... I only had it from October to April so the temperature was pretty cool indoors. Maybe it would be different in the summer months. If you have air conditioning, would have it in a basement or live in a cool climate I wouldn't worry about that at all.
Yeah, it all comes down to, "Do you have the graphics card to power that bad boy?" And no, I don't. haha. However, it will be very interesting to see what happens when you get a Steam Deck. I have a feeling that it will compete hard with your desktop PC, because the Deck can be played anywhere (like a couch or bed), and sometimes, the last thing you want to do at the end of the workday, is be at your work computer chair to game.

Didn't the Neo just go on sale like, this week?! You should check... I'd probably go for the upgrade personally. Although if I'm being honest, I would probably buy an OLED screen with a not so wide of an aspect ratio instead. That Alienware 34-in LED seems perfect. If you have been using this for a while there is no real upgrade path? Lol. Unless you want oled maybe but that is only in 3440 x 1440 , could you go back yo that after using this? Lol
So, we just moved and I ended up selling this monitor because we had to put all of our stuff in storage for 2 months and I didn't feel like moving it around. I really wanted the Alienware OLED but I don't use my computer enough to justify the cost. I ended up getting a Dell 34" wqhd gaming monitor (S3422DWG). It should arrive today in the mail. It was on sale for about $500 CAD ($375 USD) so I am very curious to see how it performs after using the G9. I think the 34" size should fit a little more comfortably on the desk. Review will be incoming! What monitor do you use?
Haha I would LOVE to do that review, but sadly it is very unlikely. And PLOT twist, I ended up selling that monitor since we moved (and I didn't want to put it in storage for 2 months). I ended up buying the a Dell 34" Gaming monitor (S3422DWG) and for the price, I am just loving it. I would have loved to yolo on the Alienware OLED but, this ticks most of the boxes at a third of the cost. What monitor are you rocking?
Right now I have the Predator x34 (3440x1440 @100hz) -- Has been my absolute favorite out of all the monitors I've had in my possession. (I actually repair alot of monitors and resell them, currently have 27 monitors in repair. xD) -- But now that I have a new Rig with a 4090 in it, I'm looking to upgrade to the Samsung G9 Oled. Its been the monitor I've been telling myself to wait for, and now its a thing lol. But the Neo G9 2023 sounds pretty insane withs its two 4k displays side by side. Thankfully for this setup, I'm not too concerned with the cost. I prefer to future proof myself for a number of years, Sell, then future proof myself for the next number of years. (And thankfully I'm a Graphic Designer/Deep Learning enthusiast who owns a small business related to it. And this is considered a business purchase.) So now I'm looking for the next monitor that will make me say "Meh, I can wait..." to the next couple monitors that come out lol What monitor would you choose as your "end all be all" if cost wasn't a factor?
@@TrollFaceMafia Do you game too? With that beastly graphics cards, I'm curious to know what you're playing!? I've just been jamming some Diablo 4 hehe. That is a good question, and the answer is I don't know... we just moved, so my life, my hobbies, my interests, my RUclips channel, everything has taken a back seat while we settle in (and we had to couch surf for 2 months before our home was ready). I'm not as up-to-date with the latest tech... my buddy who usually knows all the latest and greatest he bought that Alienware OLED last year when it came out and it looks real juicy, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure OLED would be the best for what I do, which is light gaming / video editing in a somewhat bright space. I do have a room downstairs I'm going to transform into my studio / computer area so once that is complete I guess I will be able to put better thought into a question like that. To be honest I'm really happy with this Dell though, especially for the price. Do you have any suggestions for monitors / computer gear based on what I've said?! Sounds like you are in the know. I didn't even realize the G9 had the OLED coming out... that's SICK! Though to be honest, the super ultrawide was too much... I prefer just the ultrawide for daily use (I could see how that would be different depending on what you do for a living).
@@TheSAHDLife I litterally just got my free copy of Diablo 4! lol Excited to try it! Happy to hear you're finally able to settle in though. I love getting the chance to redo my gameroom when the finances make sense. You should post a room tour when you're setup lol I do pretty much the same thing now with the lite gaming. But I've been on standard ultrawide (3440x1440 34?in) for a long time now and want a bit of a change. I can't go back to regular 16:9 monitors anymore though. Its just not the same lol So I'm thinking of leaning into that G9 Oled ultrawide. [5440x1440 @ 240 herts, OLED screen] is intense and feels very futureproof to me. The ultrawide should be really nice for work. When you incorporate Microsoft's "Fancy Zones" , you can create zones for your windows. My standard ultrawide was a big productivity booster on top of the cinematic gaming. Oh, and You shouldn't have to worry about working in a bright space though because it has like an ultra gloss finish on it or something. If you look up a video called " Best 32:9 - Samsung OLED G9 vs 57” 4K Neo G9 Monitor" by "The Display Guy, he talks about how it has it a glossy finish and it should be great for bright workplaces. --But it's also not considering budget and it being uncomfortably wide for you. At half the price you can get your buddies Alienware Oled though. 3440x1440 @175hz with an oled screen @ $1261 on Amazon. And honestly that is plenty enough monitor to do everything. In gaming terms, the higher end games arn't going to reach 175fps anyway. Or if they do, you'll be shot down by something like the 4090's HDMI and Display Port not supporting refresh rates over 120hz. (Without something called Display Stream Compression from the monitor. ) The G9 Oled has DSC, and its one of the reasons im leaning into it. But I'm not really expecting to see much performance beyond 170 frames even on that. Given what you said, I think overall I'd reccomend something like that Alienware Oled. Yeah it has a price tag. But if it lasts you 5 years before upgrading, then you paid ~$250-$300 a year, for 1,826 days of use. Lol And if you put it on a no interest, no annual fee credit card with an incentive? ... $125 a month for a year, get $200 back from the incentive and maybe 2% cashback from the card itself... Getting nicer things has is a game of "How can I creatively finance this to get the most money back" lol

Would love to see a review g9 oled vs Neo g9 2023 ;o
(I actually repair alot of monitors and resell them, currently have 27 monitors in repair. xD) --
But now that I have a new Rig with a 4090 in it, I'm looking to upgrade to the Samsung G9 Oled.
And this is considered a business purchase.)
So now I'm looking for the next monitor that will make me say "Meh, I can wait..." to the next couple monitors that come out lol
What monitor would you choose as your "end all be all" if cost wasn't a factor?
@@TheSAHDLife
I litterally just got my free copy of Diablo 4! lol Excited to try it!
Happy to hear you're finally able to settle in though. I love getting the chance to redo my gameroom when the finances make sense. You should post a room tour when you're setup lol
I do pretty much the same thing now with the lite gaming. But I've been on standard ultrawide (3440x1440 34?in) for a long time now and want a bit of a change. I can't go back to regular 16:9 monitors anymore though. Its just not the same lol
So I'm thinking of leaning into that G9 Oled ultrawide.
@@TrollFaceMafia Man, awesome comment. I learned a lot! Really appreciate it, so interesting. That'll be so exciting to get your hands on that new screen... I didn't notice, when will they actually start shipping?
And Diablo looks awesome. I'm a long time fan of the franchise... the story and cinematics are good but the game doesn't really start until the end game and I'm not sure a lot of casuals will make it that far... worth checking out a leveling build if you decide to play it (on maxroll.gg).
High on Life looked incredible on the G9 and was a fun short playthrough. I haven't really had time to crush any other games, though I DO have Returnal installed and it looks fantastic. Not sure if I'll get to it though.
I'm stoked to get back to my channel. It's hard juggling kiddos and a chan, especially since I bounce around on a lot of different content but I like it that way. It makes sure each video I release I'm passionate about you know? Not the best for building an audience but... I have another channel for the (The SAHD Studio) where I focus more on camera gear etc.
can I connect this to my ASUS rog Zephyrus g15?
In theory absolutely I am a bit sick at the moment, but if I get the energy I will hook mine up and let you know.
I just got it and I love it i wanted the neo tho
I know right? Darker blacks wouldn't suck but still, when I'm gaming or using my apps I don't really care. Are you going to get a mount for yours?
@@TheSAHDLife sheesh the mount I want is 300 plus but I have to wait

I wonder how does Mac work for this monitor? 👍🏻
Great video !!
I think I've read in comments it works great with Mac's. But I've always been team windows so have no clue!
....man, should I switch to Mac? Can you game on them??
@@TheSAHDLife here after you ugh did switch to a mac and sold this sweet gaming rig. Did you fall out of love with gaming?
@@zt9233 I did :( To be honest I waited for YEARS for Diablo 4 and... well it was a bit of a let down. I've had some fun gaming because of these insane monitors but with how busy I am as a dad and with how much effort I'm putting into my RUclips channel for now, gaming has taken a back seat. Plus we have a Series X and Switch. Thanks for the msg though. You playing anything fun? I always play Hearthstone and Rocket League still though hehehe
Ur so famous now
Oh yeah! Now you can say you know a small(ish) / growing RUclipsr. Haha
@@TheSAHDLife your channels growing more than your hair🤣
That stand is annoying as hell though taking up all that space! id definitely put it on an arm.
You are right. Would you just get a cheap arm on Amazon or cough up a little more dough for something decent?
@@TheSAHDLife well, id probably cough up for something decent.. think I saw an ergotron monitor that was white so a nice match.. but very expensive.. the vivo is cheaper (black one) Also white and black make a nice contrast anyway.
What did you do!?!
Totally necessary purchase OK?!! I had to... for science.
🤣
LMAO @ I've become what I hate. I feel that.
Haha. Sadly since this video I moved and ended up selling that monitor. I have since bought a dell 34" ultrawide which isn't quite as bonkers but is a good middle ground. I sure miss gaming on that thing!
i am 1000th view
Awww yeah 👊
Thanks for watching!
About 2 years late with this bro 😂
Haha I just reviewed the Xbox Series X too. Hey a Stay-at-Home-Dad salary isn't much, so the fact I even get this stuff eventually I'm pretty proud of lol. Plus hey, maybe some people like to know if this type of tech is still good a couple years later!
But ya this channel doesn't offer the latest and greatest tech reactions and unboxing... yet!
@The SAHD Life I'm one of them that is still interested in it a few years later. Been keeping my eyes on it for a while. Thank you for this review!
🙋🏽♀️, meh - I got the Neo on Black Friday $1400. Y’all, it’s still in the box, “soon” I keep telling myself.
I really hope the screen isn’t cracked etc… these vids/comments are giving me motivation. Lol
@@LeftenantBeige Get in there and tell us if it's worth the extra for the Neo!! We gotta know!
just go this one and none of the display ports work correctly. glitchy. hdmi works good... debating returning it
That sound odd... Did you buy it new?? I think you should for sure return it if you're able to. Sometimes that stuff happens so yeah I definitely encourage you to get your money's worth if you're going to spend that money and get a good one!
