Thanks man, I was wondering like who the hell is this Lew guy...literally never heard of him until now. Thanks again for the clarification. Imagine if we had that card and sold it for 500k LOL!!!
NBA cards used to be so popular back in the early 90s, lol. MOst of them weren't valuable but it's interesting to see a few here that have some demand. It really depends on how great the player became; back then, we never gave much thought to a Kobe rookie card. He was good from the start, but his card wasn't so pricey in those days.
I had a handful of Kobe rookies. But they weren't any limited editions, signed, or had game worn jerseys on them. Probably worth a few hundred bucks at most. Too bad they probably got thrown away in the 20 or so years since I last saw them. I remember one card feeling like it was made of felt or something that I thought might be worth some money someday.
Hani El Masri awesome....i just bought the jordan rookie fleer sticker insert from his rookie year....it dosent have the rc base card value but great card...and great call on that card...i think its the most wanted n must have card out there right up there with ruth, mantle,bo jackson rookie and of course kobe bryant draft pick card
I remember back in 1994, me and a friend were buying cards at the local store when we came across the price book. When we saw the Jordan rookie card my friend said he had it (The one shown here. I think it was around $7500 back then). I thought he was lying. We go back to his house and sure enough he had it. We go back to the store to tryn sell it and the guy gave us a song and dance about how it wasn't in the best condition and he could only get $100 (Mind you, the card was in the hard plastic casing.). We laughed at his ass and left. That was the last time we went there. I wonder if he still has that card???
I've always been a Lakers fan since I was a kid. I watched Magic Johnson against Larry Bird in the NCAA Championship game and when the Lakers got Magic as a rookie I was estatic. In 1981 I purchased 20 Magic Johnson with Larry Bird on the opposite end rookie cards. These are perforated cards manufactured by Topps. I gave $7.00 a piece for them - 20 rookie cards $140.00 I purchased 20 more with Only Magic Johnson on the card with 2 other players which 1 of them is Dr. J ( Julius Erving for $4.00 each - total price $$80.00 and I also purchased 20 Larry Bird rookie with 2 other players on the card at $4.00 each - total price $80.00. That's 60 Magic Johnson and Larry Bird rookie card's for $300.00 I have them still to this day locked in a safety deposit box. Glad I purchased these cards. Bought in Southern Illinois from Russell Sporting goods - Marion, Illinois.
@Never lose sleep over the small stuff to be fair you're talking about boxing in a basketball vid it's wouldn't be a knock on anyone in here to not know him
depends on the grade.. usually PSA 1-2 can go for around $300-$500.. PSA 3-5 can go up too $700-1k and the prices just get higher.. a good idea is to grade the card first. if its in perfect condition your in luck.. but you have to check if its real first.. I own one and the perfect way to tell if its real or fake is grading it or looking at videos comparing the fake to the real..
My Jordan rookie card is worth $200,000? I started collecting way back in the 80's when I was a small kid and a local trading card shop had this for a $100 and I haven't even looked at a Becket magazine in years to see how much it's worth. They had his rookie card and Gretzky's for the same price and I mowed lawns for the entire year and got both. It was considered A TON of money back then but looks like my investment paid off.
Nice video, Basketball cards respectively, sell better than baseball cards. I have the 1970 Pistol Pete Maravich rookie card , I bought in San Francisco with my family on Christmas vacation. I'm from western Canada. I thought he was a geeky looking guy, fabby muscles, I was only a 12 years old kid. But, when I seen his stats from LSU, wow. I knew was a special card. So, I looked after it, no playing basketball games with it and I kept it safe by putting it in a plexiglass sheet in the 1980's. Never been appraised, really should. The card is off centered, 3 rounded corners, and little, or no markings on it. Willing to sell it , can send picture.
It is tough watching this video for me. I had the Lew Alcindor card as a youth. I remember it well. I was disappointed that it wasn't an action shot. OH, how I wish I had that card now.😢
I had the Jordan Rookie card (#4) signed in '93 when he was at a golf tourney in Lake Tahoe. I then took it to the local store where I bought all my cards and tried to sell it. I was told that I ruined the card (at the time, worth $800.00) and that it is now worthless. Me being 10 at the time, took it to heart, and later traded it for a box of garbage pail kids. I may not have anything connecting me to a possible fortune... but I do have 18 copies of Cold-Sore-Lenore. :D
Jordan cards are great to watch grow in value I had many Mantle cards come us missing still makes sick and wonder WTH happen to them now I just get vintage hockey
just subscribed...awesome video...sooooo i mostly collect baseball cards but basketball has sucked me in....can u give me names of some cards to look for,players?...i collect just the must have stuff in the past, shaq rookie, kobe rookie, jordan, alonzo ball rookie/relic....but im wanting to get more into basketball now
Funny watching this in 2021. That Kobe black label is a 7 figure card now along with the pmg of mj. I’m only half way in to the video and my mind is blown lol
Watching this made me sick knowing I had that Kobe rookie along with the gold trim and regular and it was stolen when my house was robbed....not to mention the 300+ Shaq cards and 35 other Kobe rookies at that....no doubles.😢😠😠 I hate thieves!
I found some of these and thousands of others and a few hundred Jordans at my cousins house second floor that got wrecked three years ago and only one card was messed up by a small chip
I have a binder that was worth about 11k 15 years ago. About 2 years ago I brought it to be appraised. Less than 100 value and I was offered 30 since they would have to sell them individually. Jordan's that were 6-700 are now $2. 2.50. It seems like autographs are where it's at today.
@@GrandeHuevos69 that's why I said I need to find a place to sell them. I can tell you now that I can sell each of my Jordan cards for 5 a pop on eBay without a grading. It's hard to find a true card shop though
Most of them are just novelty, no real monetary value. They way overproduced cards during that time and it saturated the market which hurts value. There are some gems for sure though so go through them and look for rookie cards mainly from the big names.
Hey hit me up I have some old black and white Michael Jordan card that I need to sell Eva from North Carolina and the first slam dunk from the 3-point line

And updated lol 2020 has been a crazy year for card prices

Well, supply and demand plays the biggest part i think. Cards that were mass produced will be less worth than those that weren't mass produced.

what about Michael Jordan star #101 rookie card BGS 9.5? that got sold for $173,500.

That Kobe Topps rookie is a refractor that’s why it’s worth that much.
