I will grant people that Dragon Age as a franchise is consistently inconsistent, but from someone who bought Origins the day it came out, and had bought and played every Dragon Age release when it came out, the criticism has always gone like this: “Dragon Age 2 doesn’t feel like Dragon Age at all. They simplified everything!” “Dragon Age: Inquisition doesn’t feel like Dragon Age at all! They simplified everything!” I remember people being so mad that Inquisition and 2 went with the Mass Effect dialogue wheel with limited options. The writing and dialogue was criticized in all of the sequential Dragon Age games. I don’t think people remember, or were around for, when the fans hated Inquisition even though the critics loved it. And everyone hated Dragon Age 2. These days people look at those games under a different light, but the truth still remains that they weren’t universally well received by players. The reality is that BioWare has been on a trajectory since Mass Effect that has seen them shed a lot of the old CRPG stuff in favor of action oriented games, and the dialogue and writing reflects this. I think it’s a good change for them.
As an older gamer, Pepperidge Farms remembers! The DA2 reception was unhinged. One of the writers actually quit being a game dev because of the hatred she received, including death threats towards her and her family. She also talked about having a story mode in games for people that just want to play the story and don't care about combat. She was absolutely unfairly pilloried. If you don't like a game, fine, but nobody forces these twits to be hateful.
As someone whom enjoys this game despite having some issues with some of the writing and changes. I think a lot of the games hate comes from people like asmongold whom jumped on dragon age without knowing anything about it and then picked at the lowest fruit and left before the game got good, People highlighting particular moments without showing any context and then saying game bad and people purposely making a silly looking character in order to add to the absurdity instead of just giving it a fair chance.
Its funny how everyone and their mother always says "Dragon Age Origins is one of my top games ever!" and use that as a cudgel against DAV. Except the only consistency in the Dragon Age games is the inconsistency. Each game is DRASTICALLY different from the last. I have a feeling as time passes, the scores for this game will keep going up. When ppl forget the drama and give it a try, theyre going to be surprised at how solid it is. Its not a 9 or even 10/10 imo. But it is an extremely solid 8.5 imo.
@@Rothulian before you hit that point of no return (there is a warning on the quest, so you'll know), get your snacks and beverage ready, go pee, etc. 😆
@Rothulian I'm with Julia. I hit 7/10 around the warden battle. My score crept up from there, then rocketed in the final acts to 10. I seriously finished on a 10.
I just finished it yesterday and I think I've caused myself some brain damage yelling "WHAT THE FUCK THE HATERS ARE ON ABOUT?". I'm having flashbacks of both Stat Wars The Acolyte and the Halo show. Enjoyed them both and had to unsubscribe to to some of my favorite RUclipsrs because they started doing rage bait during those shows to the point that I could not stand them until the shows were over. This is one of my favorite games in the last decade❤🎉
I don't know if this really counts as "real" Whiskey. But on Malta there is a spirit called Shepherd's Delight Supreme that is honey flavored whiskey liquor that beats allot of single malt whiskies, IMO.
Hey! You chose the american male voice too. That VA was amazing and passionate. Yeah. The main story and sidequests were pretty amazing. I only wish slavery and prejudice against elves hadnt evaporated. I was so ready to face those in tevinter.

it's 100% a good thing, and I'm on board for all of it.
I also bet if they hadn't changed like people say they want, then they'd be complaining the series doesn't try anything new.
@JeannieLove absolutely 💯

They have ALWAYS been different from each other :)
Just the last few hours alone are worthy of any 10/10 game. I finished last night and I'm still recovering emotionally.
@@julilla1 ive not finished yet so my review score could change. But good to know

true, this is classic dragon age. great world building, fantastic story, cringe humor and some choppy dialogue.

sounds good to me
@Renfail If that sounds good, get yourself some honey mead". You can also make it.
@@RandomWandrer First of all, all mead is made out of of honey. Mead is after all also called honey wine. And no it doesn't taste the same at all.

For the second playthrough; first playthrough was the U.K. voice actor
I'm getting fucking chills... Chills! Just watching this.
People also say the music sucks, yet the song here for this battle is orgasmic.
It's good stuff :)
That people would proclaim a classic piece of the world literature as crap if some creator content says so.
