Started out as a three month visit and met my future husband. Life is full of surprises. Now I'm learning to speak German. You both speak English very well. @@twilliams8041 There are vast amounts of people who misuse words, use slang as "correct" english, mispronounce words, cuss (swear) as if it was proper edicate, etc. I also found it sweet that she was concerned about speaking properly.

Loved this episode 🤓 and Christian in the shower 🤣 doing the promo for Harry‘s! This couple‘s tiny was very interesting, the layout also very unique & functional. Nice idea with the hanging closets. I wonder how much the whole thing cost to build? And the selling price? Anyway, I would be glad to see the Tiny-Movement take root overseas where I live in Switzerland. We have such a small country, but still so many people sometimes living all alone in huge houses (say widowers) with lots of land on their properties. It would make sense to add a few extra dwellings, either to rent the land like this family did or rent out a Tiny House. In the end, as we‘ve seen so many times in your shows - the older generation sometimes end up moving into their beautiful Tiny and rent out the larger house on the property. Less work, more freedom and a steady income for retirement. Oh yeah, and the Community-Factor is really a plus. Otherwise it‘s just sad to see the gap between people always getting bigger & bigger, the rich segrigating themselves from the „normal“ families struggling to get by. This is a sad reality is some parts of the world. But it doesn‘t have to be, does it? Your content is so genuine and tells a family‘s story which is diff. every single time. Thank you for all you do!!!

Edit: I always preferred being with family too and our families purchased homes and everyone grew up in them and still there. Often 1 of the children takes them over.

Dabei vergessen wir, was das Leben wirklich ausmacht.
Ich lebe hier auch in einem kleinen Holzhaus und mein Grundstück ist gepachtet, für hier, ist es eine totale soziale Abstufung.
In den US ist es normal.

A happy couple with a beautiful and much loved home. I understand their bittersweet decision to move back to Germany. We made the same choice when we found out we were expecting our twins. We made the choice to stay near our family. It’s been a great choice thirty years later!

A very nice family, this just may be a possible solution for my 25 year old grandson having a huge problem getting into the market here in bC, way too expensive!

I have lived in only one house since the late 1980’s but most Americans have bought into the idea of starter home.
Realtors make a lot of money reselling ppl homes.
I had a sunroom built on the front, added a deck off the back and took out walls instead.
Bought into the idea? No, it has always been part of America from its founding... Country of immigrants and new opportunities, change has always been part of it, just more so for some than others...
The parents’ reaction made me laugh. I rented one of those really big houses, while in Germany. I can see the parents asking ‘why’? Lol. They’re not kidding when they say the houses are really big!

Completely off topic but as an English teacher I can tell they really prepared for their IELTS immigration tests very well - they use idioms a lot, as well as other "test friendly" vocabulary. Good job. :)
Which immigration test? They came on a work visa - meaning they were both already proficent in english.
I am glad you're going back so your son can be with his grandparents, sadly my grandparents were gone before Us children were even born, so none of us ever had the opportunity to meet them

I am British, and live in Germany (since 24yrs) and love the tiny house movement... But tiny houses are still not legal and it is very difficult concerning finding a parking spot in Germany ... So it is still not really an option.. Sadly.
In the UK, as in USA, people buy young, start small and build up to a big house. Hence why they own 4+ houses over there life.. Plus moving around for better jobs. That means you are not lining someone else's pocket (which you do if you rent) .. And when old, you sell your big house, get something small and have money to live on.
I hated coming to Germany at 24yrs old, discovering you need a min of 30% of the house/appartement price saved to buy...hence why people buy one house.. They are usually really old eg 40s when they first buy. Because they have to rent and try to save for a deposit at the same time .. Unless they have family which give them money for a deposit! Germany is a renters market.. Sadly.
