  • Showing you how easy it is to replace or clean an Idle air control valve. You can clean this sensor in a lot of different cars. Most of the time these sensors do not just go bad. Carbon buildup seems to be the main cause to this issue. You will experience a very high idle.

    Four years later and you're still helping people. I seriously appreciate this; I couldn't figure out which screw I was missing for my airbox (it was the one around the throttle body) and I needed to clean my IAC as well; so this killed all birds in the cage with one big boulder. Thanks man.

    Thank you very much for this video. I had just cleaned the EGR passages on my high mileage vehicle. They were almost totally clogged with carbon. My very inexpensive scan tool that I used for emissions just showed an EGR code. I just purchased a HF Zurich ZR-13 scan tool and it gives much more information. Because of your help I can easily fix this.

    Thanks for the excellent video - very easy to follow along and it was an easy fix. my son had to get to work and it's his car so we didn't even replace the gasket; we just carefully cleaned it up. I was surprised it didn't even need to prime; it fired right up and popped up to a steady 900 RPM. Thanks again for posting

      A P0505 code can be set by a couple of other reasons. I just fixed my 99 civic with the same code but it had a vacuum leak. according to alldata a p0505 can be caused by throttle body clogged port, intake manifold gasket leak, intake air hose leak, vacuum leak, ect sensor incorrect output.
      In this video it just happened to be a dirty IAC Valve.

    • @ltdan8671
      @ltdan8671 2 года назад +1

      For future reference whoever sees this, the rubber fitting should go on the box first for easier reinstallation. Take the top half of the air box off and put the rubber seal back in; then put the whole assembly back on

    • @ltdan8671
      @ltdan8671 2 года назад

      When you rip the whole assembly box out, the rubber seal typically stays stuck to the throttle body when it’s meant to be inside the box.

    • @Matthew-jn4jk
      @Matthew-jn4jk 3 года назад +1

      I know this is very late but if you didn't use an oem part that could very well have been why it persisted. I've had aftermarket sensors and parts that were brand new, not work right out of the package with these civics. I've learned always go oem for sensitive parts like this

    Hey so my car got flooded 2 weeks ago and I’ve been trying to save it. After a lot of drying and cleaning connections, so far the only code the car is throwing is p1519 (IACV circuit malfunction). Anything else I should look at besides cleaning or replacing IACV?

    My Civic 2004 EP3 3dr (185k) has no problem to start, but after 3-4 min it almost stalls, sometimes stalls, pushing on throttle won’t respond, rpm goes from 500-2000 by itself, then it drops and repeats this till the engine reaches the normal working temperature. It comes only when the engine is warming. This issue appeared in winter only and now after 40k it happens also in summer. Any suggestions will be really welcoming :)

    Hi dude, I'm facing a little issue with my honda civic 2002 i.e car drops rpm on idle when in D and AC is on. Is it something related to IAC VALVE? I have already cleaned my throttle body but the problem is still there and no check engine light! Advice needed.

    • @laketownautorepair336
      @laketownautorepair336  4 года назад

      It's normal for RPM to drop a little with AC on, with these cars. The engine is tiny so when you turn on the AC it takes alot of power from such a small engine. Most 4 cylinder cars do it but...... it also depends how much it drops and it also can't be fluctuating high and low constantly. You will know right away when the idle air control valve has a problem because the RPM will go up and down constantly. It is very annoying and usually when the check engine light finally sets the rpm will be staying put around 1500 RPM at a complete stop.

    • @MrAamir1432
      @MrAamir1432 4 года назад

      @@laketownautorepair336 Actually, after turning on the AC in D mode the rpm drops to almost 600 to 650, engine slightly hesitates. But there is no problem in acceleration. Car runs smoothly. Only it annoys in idling,seems like the engine is going to shut off. Only when AC is on.

    • @laketownautorepair336
      @laketownautorepair336  4 года назад

      Sounds more like a huge power drain issue? Any battery light? Get your battery tested see it its holding up. If not get a multimeter, turn on lights, AC full blast and see what voltage your alternator is producing. It could be alot of different things but yes that is too low of rpm

    • @MrAamir1432
      @MrAamir1432 4 года назад +1
