I took apart a frozen IAC valve from a 2000 Echo that had been sitting for 17 years and gave up on trying to free-up the valve when I broke the magnet. I took a chance on a new less than $20 aftermarket IAC valve that took a week for Amazon to deliver but it works great. It claimed compatibility with 2000-2005 Echo, 2004-2006 Scion xA & xB. I almost went to a salvage yard but the new gasket included with the new idle air control valve convinced me to give it a try. Now it idles correctly again. I got lucky.
I’m glad I came across your video. Toyota NZ quoted me $900 for just the valve idle parts, another company is $240 . My car was running high idle for several months so did excatly how you tested then dismantle the whole unit clean it then put it together. Now I’m happy to say my car is like a EV can barely hear while idling . Than k you very much sir and happy new year🎉. 10/10 ⭐️
yeah usually when i clean the throttle body i attach the little hose piece to the throttle body cleaner and stick it down in the hole. I have done this for years after replacing the part. you can also take it apart by removing those two bolts and make sure its spinning around and not getting stuck by dirt etc. :P
It looks like the black plastic electrical section comes off the valve body Are you able to disassemble the old unit and try and to free up the sticking valve Cheers
Hi peter thanks for the lecture. My question is, (1)what are the negative effect on the car if l purposely block the IAC due to high idealing? (2) will fuel consumption increase or decrease if i block the IAC? and (3) if the IAC is working properly, is the car acceleration or idealing suppose to be above 1RPM or below 1RPM? Thanks.
How do you get the Phillips screw out in the back if it's stripped out what. And how do you grt it out then because I am having the same problem in park it idles rite below 2000 epm but put it in gear it just wants to go as in you don't have to hit the gas pedal it just takes off
Thank you so much for your video. Appreciate it if you could share with me how much is the electrical resistance between the three pins of the IAC actuator. Is it around 20 Ohm?
Great video. Same as my problem. The three screws on mine are are near impossible to get out. I put every thing back started car, high idle still of course. Gave a tap while idling and instantly revs dropped to normal. Not a proper fix of course. At least I know what the issue is.
The idle on my Corolla was all over the place so disconnected the IAC and now won't drop below 1100rpm. I've removed the throttle body, cleaned the IAC as the shaft wasn't moving freely but does now. Hopefully that will solve it.
I scraped out alot of carbon with a screw driver and used brake cleaner. I knew it wasn't working because i couldn't hear the magnet spinning and kept cutting out.
Can it also be a symptom of a very very low idle? car struggles when cold especially for starting and sometimes will die. performance improves when car warms up.
My 13 Corolla idles 400-500 shakes at stop signs. It does correct it self but almost shuts off. Cleaned the throttle body and no codes can this be a culprit ?
Hi Peter I have a 2004 matrix and I had an issue with high idle I have and the pedal sticking when steping on the pedal, I have chage the IAC valve 2 times and even have change the hole thorttel body, and Im still having high RMS.. your thought's?
i had same problem but with a 2004 pontiac vibe gt, replace the iac , i try to open the old one but it has a 5 point start bolt, i only have 6 point star bit
Hi Peter. I have a 2003 Tacoma (same as the cream puff you had the video on). I’m at 260k miles and my ac will be working than goes hot. I can usually get it back to cold with a quick turn of the dial. Any idea if it’s just a bad dial or something else?
I wish I had this video a few years ago when my 2003 rc300 my iacv died and really annoyed me, especially after the cheap Chinese knockoff wasn’t even built right!!
I have p0300 random mis fire rough idle on my 03 corolla 230,xxx miles should I replace the IAC cause I didn't get a code from the IAC. Replace brand new NGK Iridium spark plug, used 4 ignition coil, clean out all 4 fuel injector, replace intake manifold Gasket, throttle body gasket and ICA gasket. Couldn't find no vacuum leak and no fuel leak
I went to the dealer to price around for an Idle Air Control Valve. Part number 22270-22050 for a 3ZZ-FE engined Toyota Corolla 2000. They go for 735 euro after tax here in the Netherlands. What a rip-off. I just ordered the IACV gasket, the 4 JIS screws and the throttle body gasket. Gonna have to look for an used one, unfortunately. The entire throttle body assembly (with the IACV and Throttle Position Sensor) go for around 100 euro used. So I think I will try that.
Anybody know the part number of the IAC for a 2009 Rav4, 2AR-FE 2.5 liter engine. When I asked for this at the local dealership they just look at me like I'm stupid. Any help is appreciated .

You are clever and smart, greeting from the drive was mech.

I disassembled and cleaned mine. Very easy and good as new.
Yeah curious that there was no attempt by him to clean the old one first. Granted it doesn't hurt to just replace it.
What did you do to clean it?

Thank you 04 Tacoma with 2rz has given me the same problem!!
Thank you for this video, i learned a lot on how to test idle air valve.
Thanks Peter , for this video, great information.
Great video. Peter is on the heels of RtR crowd.
Another great video! It's so funny that you go from a shop with a noisy windy garage door to a noisy bird family😂😂😂
Love the vids. Maybe put the code in the title of the vid so anyone searching for help with that code will find your vid easier.
thanks for giving me this opportunity!
Great and very very helpful thank you for your help and knowledge 👍😀
Thanks a lot this is the best and very helpful video
Thanks for sharing this video, very interesting information.
Great video, Peter! And those birds are getting stronger. 🐣 🔊👂
❤❤❤
Thank for teaching fantastic teacher
Sure wish Peter would have shown us the inside of that unit.
he did- it is quick but you can clearly see at 05:40
05:38 to 05:40
It looks like the black plastic electrical section comes off the valve body
Are you able to disassemble the old unit and try and to free up the sticking valve
Cheers
I am also curious about this as well, can it be removed and cleaned?

What's the voltage range of the signal to the IAC?
I need to get a service manual one of these days.

What was it?
The idle on my Corolla was all over the place so disconnected the IAC and now won't drop below 1100rpm. I've removed the throttle body, cleaned the IAC as the shaft wasn't moving freely but does now. Hopefully that will solve it.
Did it work?
Yes
All good, got mine working last night, happy days
I scraped out alot of carbon with a screw driver and used brake cleaner. I knew it wasn't working because i couldn't hear the magnet spinning and kept cutting out.
How can find the other video you are talking about ?
Those "philipshead" screws actually need a special tool. I think it's called a JIS driver?
Merry Christmas to you! Question, were you able to repair the connector on that idle air control valve you mentioned in your video?
Can it also be a symptom of a very very low idle? car struggles when cold especially for starting and sometimes will die. performance improves when car warms up.
My 13 Corolla idles 400-500 shakes at stop signs. It does correct it self but almost shuts off. Cleaned the throttle body and no codes can this be a culprit ?
Ensure air filter looks good and add a bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank. If plugs are old, maybe check and replace.
Check your throttle stop adjustment. That controls the lowest idle drop. It doesn't control "idle up" but can solve minor issues with alternator.
Does Toyota Auris have one ?
Great my man, thank you

Peter you forgot to give us the after repair video of the engine running with the idle fixed. Thanks
i had same problem but with a 2004 pontiac vibe gt, replace the iac , i try to open the old one but it has a 5 point start bolt, i only have 6 point star bit
Hello, does the 1GR-FE use an IAC? Thank you
Does 2004 Toyota Rav4 2.4L Gasoline with electronic throttle have IAC valve ?
Hi Peter. I have a 2003 Tacoma (same as the cream puff you had the video on). I’m at 260k miles and my ac will be working than goes hot. I can usually get it back to cold with a quick turn of the dial. Any idea if it’s just a bad dial or something else?
Change the cabin filter? Or wiring maybe
I have a P0511. I changed the idle speed sensor and it still is showing P0511. What can I change next?
does the roller inside close all the way

When does the misfire occur?
When engine's cold, or when hot?

Thank you so much! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I am a viewer of your channel. Is it possible to change the 1.4 to 1.6 engine in a Toyota Corolla 1.4 4zze 120l
There are two coolant lines connecting to bottom of the throttle body. Is that for cooling the intake air or warming air ? Can we by pass these lis
As air passes through a low pressure air cools ..therefore jot coolant warms throttle body.
To reduce condensed goop I think. If it was colder, there might be more frequent cleaning required

I’ve never seen Toyota part number with a Letter in it.
Chuurrr good advice thank you
Have 2002 vehicle that again has been sitting for two years…
And now idols at 1800 rpm….
Muchas gracias
Thank you very much .

Did you change the IAC and did it work if so?
@@TomMac1 no, another dealership told me that my engine doesn’t have one. I sold the Rav4 when we downsized to one vehicle.
Thankyou for showing
Thank you buddy!!!
Scotty has one of these.
Thanks a lot sir
Thank You!
Great...Thanks!
👍👍👍
It will not work. The valve was clean. One or both windings must have been cut. It happens when the moving parts of the valve stick.😉
But only buy OEM.
