The body is an authentic P1 GTR body with 650S doors that allow for larger cooling ducts. Lanzante was the OEM for the P1 GTR. Very little of the rest of the car is original mclaren but what is there is from a P1 as far as I can gather so it is no less correct to describe it as a P1 than as a 650S GT3.

IN the Lanzante shop, who was the offical shop of the McLaren F1 GTR.. that is not any normal shop.. it’s the holy grail of McLaren shops outside of the HQ. A lot of really amazing custom made cars have come out of that shop.. like.. super high end hot rod stuff

Normally when you see a McLaren of any stripe going sideways, it's not for very long and/or the driver is about to be in a lot of trouble. This is amazing.

Absolutely brilliant, and that run was in the wet and still dam mad fantastic. Fantastic to see Mad Mike succeed in this marathon build. Only fresh to track, with bugger all track time, great to see no real teething problems. Crikey i have been in a 427 purpose built Drift Monaro.... smashed just over that 300km/h in a 50 k Street, have been thru Turn 1 at QLD Raceway, at 200k throwing it sideways..... this is phenomenal feel and by crikey, just look at that grin on Mad Mikes face, it says it all. Fantastic video, chat and demo. MAD MIKE MAKES SURE KIWIS CAN FLY!!!!
This whole video is just wild. An -Australian- New Zealand bloke with a -Bondi Beach- surfers bod, with blonde dreads, who drifts, for RedBull, and drives a 3-rotor swapped McLaren 650S GT3 dresses up as a McLaren P1 GTR, with a complete widebody kit, with rally inspired aero Rotiform wheels up with deeeeep dish wheels in the back, AND the exhaust tips placement… What a mad combination.
Love some of the extra detail about Bruce Maclaren and what the Goodwood Festival means to Mike. Just inspires me to save my money so I can get there one day.

There also using a motor that has no aftermarket everything they are doing has never been done. Sure this has never been done ether but rotary is tried and true.
This is build is so insane. I love every bit of it, even though it makes a little sad to see a McLaren P1 cut up and all that lmao but with that being said, the quality and the literal art put into it and the attention to detail makes me say oh what the hell what they did with this is incredible.
They didn't cut up a P1. They took an old 650S GT3 racecar tub and bolted Lanzante's P1 GTR body panels (which they normally use to convert regular P1s into P1 GTRs) onto it. There's nothing from a factory McLaren P1 here.

What an amazing build ! This is truly one of a kind , especially turning it into a pro driftcar.. What they achieved in 100 days is nothing short of spectacular 😮 But every video on it says it's a P1 driftcar... it's a 650s gt3 with P1 GTR bodykit, and with an added rocket bunny widebody. So it never had the hybrid system or the P1 spec engine. Cutting a real P1 into pieces would just be crazy... Man, this thing is CRAZYYYY
They did ruin the car. Why ruin a P1 and turn it into a drift car 😂 He could’ve done this setup with any other McLaren, why the p1 man that’s a violation itself. If McLaren was Ferrari they would’ve sued for sure

Also, had a couple motorcycle buds whose street rides were modified RX-7 3 rotars and were a blast to drive. I like them too. The C7 Vette is incredible on the track. It really is. There’s a badass black RX-7 on here that is pretty bonkers and has a Quaife sequential crash box. Be sure to check it out if you haven’t. Cheers to all us maniacs . Be well

This and the T.50s Niki Lauda seem strangely similar in a way to me, I'd like to see them in a side by side comparison. Also nobody in the comments noticed the vid clip clearly stating"P1 gtr & 650s gt3 tubs are the same except fia spec rollcage."
P1 gtr doesn't have a rollcage. The FIA allowed it to not have one since the tub was very stiff itself. Since the 650 gt3 has a rollcage, it isn't as stiff as the p1's. Also, I didn't know the P1 chassis and the 650 share the same vin number....
