Wow all I can say is thank you and great timing. You posted this 2 weeks ago and yesterday my youngest decided to manually push the carousel around. I was watching other videos and the older models are much different. You saved me a lot of time. And as you share mine is spinning a gear on the shaft. Based on shipping this late, our carousel will miss this year but will be ready for next. Thanks again so much for posting this and timing was superb.
Hope the belt on my 2020 model doesn't break. I also hope no other problem occurs. I rarely use the merry go round so it should be guaranteed to last forever.
I’ve got one of these I’m trying to repair. The upper gear above the one you were showing has split on the spline and the shaft just rotates inside the gear. I’m going to see if I can get a replacement cog of eBay for it. Everything else works fine.
Great explanation! Thanks. I have 2 questions if anyone can help. The leds in the upper side goes inside The central part to the electronic circuit into the bottom part? And, do you think could be possible to find the coloured plastic ornaments similar to the another carousel version with coloured instead of this white? It seems easy to replace.
Need to ask a question my problem is similar, I changed out some of my gears and now they are all working fine but that one you pointed out. What moves that one? It’s disassociated with the others and I see up underneath the motor housing it looks engaged to the center shaft, but it’s not moving. If my other gears are working smoothly does this mean my motor has enough juice. I bought another motor, but what they sent with it looks nothing like all the junk on the original motor. Do you need to grease that wheel
Hello, I have this same model and there is an intermittent fault whereby sometimes it still turns round, only the middle lights flash (every 10 seconds), and no music plays. Upon turning it off and on a few times at the wall it begins working again as it should. Once turned off and back on again the fault returns until a few times of turning it back off and on again it starts working.
I recently bought a Mr. Christmas deluxe Carousel only to find that the music doesn't play. I hate to take it back due to out of stock and Mr. Christmas will not accept it for repair. Any ideas on why the music won't work? It is a beautiful piece.
@@mrjag69 Thank you for the reply. I will certainly do that as I suspected it could be that also. That would be an easy fix if they came off the speaker leads.
So i have the same problem. Its the main drive shaft that doesnt turn. It turns when i take it off the main turning shaft but when i put it back it doesnt turn while every ither gear turns. I just ordered the whole gears from ebay 32.00 bucks.
Whoops accidentally hit send b4 I was thru. Will it operate within the top on. How did you get that wheel to move like it should. Is it suppose to move easily, cuz mine doesn’t. You have to tun with your finger with some strength which makes me feel like it should spin easier. Once you reset yours did engage well with carousel center wheel. Sorry to be so wordy, but I hate to be beat.
On the surface it looked like all my gears were working properly. But when you applied some resistance the gear slipped on the shaft. It looked like it had slipped off the spline on the shaft. I pushed it back on with finger pressure and then put on some crazy glue. It's still working but next time I will replace the whole gear assembly...which I think you should consider.
@@mrjag69 Thanks, I worked on this all day and finally just got those horsies to go up & down. That gear that we were talking about that goes up against the main shaft of the carousel would like you said seem to meet the main shaft then stop with resistance. The teeth seemed to meet where they were supposed to, but no “enchilada”! Then just awhile ago I took a mini screwdriver and a mini hammer and tapped the spindle that this bad guy should have been turning on...and bingo the horses started going up & down! Next I need to find out why the lights on the roof aren’t working. Not sure I’ll have success with that. All I can find when others asked about the same thing they were told get a voltage meter. Ugh😬 I would love to have success with that then the whole thing would be working. One thing though I did buy the set of plastic gears from a parts & repair site, but one of the bigger gears didn’t fit. Totally wrong size. Thanks for the video and response it helped out a lot to tackle this plastic mess 😂
Yes. When I took the bottom cover off to look for the motor the wire connector to the lights broke and I didn't notice it until later but I did repair it by connecting two wires back together... they are very small and delicate but it's possible.
@@mrjag69 Hey when you took the bottom off, what was exposed? I just got one and the stage floor is having some issues rubbing up against the inner lip of the base, is there a way we can chat?
Hello, we are having a difficult time removing the top housing. We tried to free the middle, we removed the nut & washer, used exacto knife heated. We still can't lift it up. Please help! Thank you!!
It is very difficult to pull that top off but I would continue to use a heated knife and quickly use heavy pressure to pull up until It breaks free. It's been awhile since I did this but I remember I kept thinking is this thing going to come off or not.
I believe they may have super glued it so maybe you could also try putting some acetone or fingernail polish remover with a Q-tip around it. Again act quickly
@@gregdeibert9678 The two wires have to be cut or disconnected before the top can be removed....and they are very fine wires that are hard to strip and hard to splice back together. When you reassemble don't solder them unless you know for sure the unit is working. I had to take that top off 10 times before I got it working properly and could then finally connect the wires permanently. Those wires are a pain in the ass.

Great video with information. Very big help.
Thanks for posting this video, we have a similar model that wasn't working and now with your help, ours is working, too!

What I found out is if you spin that top it unscrews instead of burning it and risking the horses not work as they should

In my case the gear moved a bit on the shaft so I hade to push it up a bit on the shaft. The inside gear of the one you pointed

If you have a voltmeter I would check the power supply first
Such great job explaining how to fix this carousel 🎠 it would have been wonderful if you turned it on at the end 😍

My first suspect would be the wiring to the speaker. Remove the bottom very carefully and check the connections.

I believe your problem is related to the gears actually slipping on the shafts
All it takes is one gear to slip and the main Drive will not move make sure they're firmly attached you may need to add Super Glue
