Love your little helper!! I'm a much older man that has done very physical work and had my injuries--and still had to work to pay the bills!! Buddy it always works out in my life!!! Stay strong and you will find your path with that strong family makes the path much easier!!
Greetings from Victoria, BC. Always love your videos, they make me want to run saw and split wood. Took a couple small trees down and bucked up -I was pooped! Keep up the hard work, making it look easy
David yer a good man. It's great ya can keep going with the shoulder hurting. MacKenzie your a big help to dad , I just love seeing a family pull together , not apart , we all knew ya had sand but it's great to see. Love ya guy's. Be safe.
Great helper you have there David. Worth her weight in gold. I know that you are very proud of her. Take care of that shoulder. Love your channel brother.
Don’t get discouraged, things will work out, take care of yourself and everything else will fall into place. You are a good man to your family and friends and to you customers, believe me,it will all work
Glad to see you hanging in there. Been through the shoulder issues and still dealing with them. I am 71 and I split my firewood a little bigger because I have a wood boiler. What kind of stoves do you folks use there. Take care and hang in there.
David, I ended up years ago with a shoulder injury splitting wet red fir. Doctor prescribed nitro glycerin patches and they actually worked for me. This doctor was out of Pullman. I used to cut a lot of cords where I lived , now I live in a subdivision. I did have an MRI. Hope you have a speedy recovery. I seldom miss any of your videos. I was an average woodcutter. Your falling and sharpening skills are tremendous.
Primo wood for sure! Always sweet to have a good helper! I wish you the best on your shoulder issues as I know how those go! They wanted to do 2 surgeries on mine with 2 years of rehab to follow. I didn't do it as I'm a bit stubborn! Be safe and great video as always!
Good to see you hanging in there. I pray for your shoulder and family finances! I bought a circle sawmill 30 years ago and just found it was more profitable to sell logs as firewood (sad but true). I have a big log splitter, but never haul it anywhere (to much hassle). So I just ‘noodle’ the big stuff with my saw in half or quarters then haul it home and finish on the splitter. Gary in Michigan still cutting, splitting and delivering fire wood at age 72.
I wrecked my shoulder with a steel handled Estwing framing hammer. It took years of being careful at work to heal. Just go easy and steady and know when to stop for a bit.
I sure like how you were family-oriented guy and taking his family firewood faction and going out and getting a cord of firewood on the old Hulk and the Ford flatbed I see on RUclips right on man you guys are awesome People Keep On Keepin On sincerely Anthony your fella firewood cutter in the pnw
Great work, Dave. Also, noticed your kid doesn't extend one of her arms towards the front of the ax on a lift up before the next hit for easier effort.
Take care of that shoulder man.. keep the future in mind 💪💪 I really like those skid steer firewood processors! One of those on a tracked skid steer would be awesome, your wood only has to be cut down to like 10 feet long to start... they hold the log up over your truck and the split wood falls right in the bed......But.... that's a huge initial investment. Hard to gamble on a 2000 dollar a month payment if you bought it all new 😬😬
Log splitter works good if you're dealing with greenish wood that needs to dry for a season or 2. I use mine mainly when dealing with big sappy dougie fir. takes about 1:30 per full cord to split alone.
@@mountainlifewithdavidkelsie I'm in no way saying its better than a maul, i mainly use a maul as well. just saying they aren't bad for certain things.
As someone from many generations of loggers, processors do certainly help... but the end of that is that you watch what size wood you are cutting, especially with a 6 way splitter and the cost of the machine. I also think that the quality of wood being cut is better with a chainsaw and splitter...that way the wood tends to be closer to the same size. So a processor is quicker, but you will also work more hours to simply pay for it. Food luck with the shoulder, and as a suggestion stop picking up chunks of wood with one hand... once you throw it into the truck with that one hand all of the force from throwing and the impact end up in your shoulder joint. Just trying to help.... no judgement here.
Way stick it out bro I've had to work hurt before and it sucks but like you said bills done pay themselves n kids need to be fed... hope ya heal up fast.
Nice to have the helper. For what it’s worth, don’t let her over do it. We all pay for the abuse we give our bodies usually when we get older. My father is always on me about NOT over doing it. Just because I can lift something doesn’t mean I should. He is a walking talking aching example of over doing it.
With a tore up shoulder.. try rubbing some castor oil on it. Massage it in good before bed.. take a little bit for it to work but it works. Thats a nice piece of ground to work off. Got alot of easy pickins to say..
It's great to see your daughter helping you David. In your area, do most people hand split their loads? Seems efficient but also taxing on the shoulders!
That wallenstein is nice but take a lot of wood to pay for it.i recently bought a kinetic splitter that only weighs 125 pounds with a one second cycle time that goes through oak with ease and they are only 800 dollars new
There is one thing that I do know that when a woman or a young girl gets out there and tries to swing an Axe and try to do the work and it is something that a lot of men really do appreciate dad's future future husband's appreciate it too so you by learning and doing these things are going to meet you that much better person in the end and appreciated that much more by those who really need you and want you it's a good thing for keep it up you don't know how much 🤠😎🤠
Hey bud if I was doing it like you I would probably be interested in a kinetic type of splitter, but not a garbage Dr splitter, something like a gripo or supersplit.light and easy to move around, fast as hell and easy to work on not a lot of shit going on with them to have problems with..might add a few minutes to your day but might add a few years to your body too
