Dude! Love your videos! Reminds me of cutting cedar shake bolts and fire wood with my dad back it the 70s and early 80s! Dad always ran Homelite saws till later when he switched to Husqvarna. He had an old 1949 power wagon with a pto driven big ass winch on it, that’s how we yarded most everything. Great memories with my dad! Keep them coming bud!! P.S. just found your channel, been busy binge watching to catch up lol
Well thanks for the supply friend we appreciate you!!! Memories with my dad are the greatest ever when we was in The mountains weather it be hunting, fishing, camping or wood cutting! Wouldn’t change them for anything!
Fun to watch My dad was from New Hampshire and I remember him cutting up wood Had me stack most You are very hard working Hope you and all keep warm this winter. Annie
I run a firewood show up in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. I cut primarily hardwood...Alder, Maple and Birch. Some fruit wood occasionally..Cherry, Plum. It's a way of life that I'm trying to hold onto as long as I can. Turning 60 in September..still out work guys half my age!! I enjoy your videos...and respect the hubby and wife team approach 💪🍁🔥
My dad was 80 and still cutting hardwood for others ( 20 - 30 cord a year ) he finally gave it up at 82 because of a stroke . You have years of life left in you .
i love watching you guys i was once able to do all the wood cutting you do and i did my wood cutting in the winter to so do not let those bleep holes get to you .🤟🤟
In your last video you said you weren't in very good shape, your in way better shape than I am I can tell you that lol. Another great video David. I love how nice that Fir splits, it's awesome looking wood.
One of my favorite things to do....love the smell, sound and woods....keep it up buddy. I'm in MT for good but I grew up in the Yakima Valley....where you at?

@@mountainlifewithdavidkelsie hemlock can be stringy as all hell, I'm guessing that he might be comparing how the fir 'pops' easier maybe 🤷♂️. My ol man told me hemlock was good firewood and they cut it once in awhile on the coast but split like the butt log of a big fir wood tree.
You get your logos done I’ll send my coveralls you can put it on there 👌🏽 I’ve thought about starting a RUclips channel of wood cutting around here in Oregon 👌🏽
thats awesome! In michigan where i live you cannot cut dead standing trees on state land . Im sure you are on private or rules are different. thats some good wood!
Great videos buddy, love the channel! I side hustle firewood myself down here in Eastern Oregon, we still got too much snow for me to get to my good spots. Man I hate leaving a good log like that on the side of the road, most of the time its gone by the time I can get back to it. Is that a common issue where you’re at or is there a little more respect when somebody figures you’re coming back for it? Keep your chains sharp and stay safe!
It’s usually gone by the next day but mostly during hunting season (fall) because everyone is trying to get firewood… I have two cord 3/4 of the way bucked up and it will most likely be there in the morning… but if it was fall they would have it bucked and loaded by the time I hit pavement
Awesome video man , idk if you could but a small sawmill would be a great investment some of your logs would bring a good profit much more than firewood you could do both and the mill would pay for itself in a couple months
You have to laugh when you think about how many times you touch a piece of wood until it actually goes in the wood stove. Been cutting and splitting for 25 years and it never gets old. Course i'm a lot slower now. Great video David. Do you run a stock engine in the saw or soup-ed up?
What's the wood cutter's etiquette for leaving wood behind? Is it fair game for the next cutter, or do people know you are are coming back for the rest of it and to leave it alone?
Is there a lot of dead fir up in your area or do you gotta hunt for it? Down in my area the Fir is pretty healthy but the pine is dying off due to beetles. Takes work to find a good standing dead Doug fir.
can you cut wood all year? our permits run from may 1st to Sept 30th. I just went and got my permit today and it was free up to 6 cords. Again nice wood. God bless and stay safe.
I run Echo chainsaws. Cs800 p 32-in bar and cs7310 p 28-in I also have a 24 inch bar. The echo 590 timberwolt 20 inch bar. I can handle just about anything that comes my way. I get a lot of tree service wood here in the city.
This man has some demons but carries them like a gentleman. God I’d love to buy him a beer and hear some stories. The way he chops is scary but beautiful. World needs more men like this dude.
And? It’s illegal to mill trees like this and once these trees die from fire they only have a short window to get milled into lumber before the mills won’t take them
Thank you for clean, polite language. Watching your videos with my kids and we’re enjoying them. Learning too. Thank you.
what a great log spliteras most people use a log spliter as he hardly breaks a sweat throwing that timber keep up the great work 😊😊

Great video, sure made some great progress .
Well done ! You made short work of if. Excellent
Thank you! It’s all business till it’s in gear on the way out my friend
Great work! I have some forest fire firewood in my personal firewood too. The bark comes off for the most part. But it sure makes a guy charcoal gray!
Yeah it’s not too bad
lovin the 441!! better saw than its been given credit for. I have one I'm rebuilding now but still need more parts. mine is a standard carb model.
Yes they are great saws! The one Kelsie runs is the carb saw
Good stuff, man. Nicely done.
Thank you
Good job...I like getting that red fir also...tamarack is also good easy splitting too...great video
Tamarack is by far my favorite to cut and burn
We would split the rounds in half because you could stack more in the pickup or just so you could move them!!
Awesome video David!
Thanks Noah

Nice firewood!! I do the same thing for a living. Not much Doug fir in my area though. Mostly cut hemlock. Looks like fun splitting that popcorn👍🏾
Popcorn?

Is this for an outdoor boiler? Huge chunks. Also, what kind of money will that load bring?
Ford built those eighth generation F-series pickups from 1987 through 1991 & I still see a lot of them out on the roads today.
thats awesome! In michigan where i live you cannot cut dead standing trees on state land . Im sure you are on private or rules are different. thats some good wood!

You can hear that fir crack as it splits.
I have a smaller Stihl (18” bar) that I use around the house here. Your Husky seems to cut pretty good too...
It does ok I want to have it ported for more power and quicker cutting
@@mountainlifewithdavidkelsie I’ve heard about porting.
Awesome video man , idk if you could but a small sawmill would be a great investment some of your logs would bring a good profit much more than firewood you could do both and the mill would pay for itself in a couple months
Yea most definitely! That’s one of the goals my friend!
Hi I'm new to your channel, just wondering how you measure your cuts for firewood
Love the vid!
Thank we appreciate you friend

Soooooo much dead wood in our area due to the “North Star Fire” in 2015
I did some of what you are doing in Colorado. I enjoyed the.hand splitting.
Nice to meet you
You as well Curtis
I love me some shirts and hats. Good Ol Nicki is a Tough girl, hehe

Good hard work, nice looking Fir, get much Tamarack in your area?
Yes we do just have to drive a bit farther
can you cut wood all year? our permits run from may 1st to Sept 30th. I just went and got my permit today and it was free up to 6 cords. Again nice wood. God bless and stay safe.
Yes I can cut wood year round I get 10 free cord then have to buy resale permits after that
That looks like a nice saw log tree.
A lot of people don’t understand the bigger the wood peace’s burn longer. That’s why we like it in bigger chunks.
Exactly! We don’t split and burn kindling!
Was that saw that you were using at the beginning a 395 or a 394. I’m curious for myself.
390xp thanks for watching friend
Ford tough baby!
Lots of work solo, how long does it take you to get a truckload. Terry

I try to atleast cut one full cord before. Have to sharpen 1 saw… it all depends o. How much dirt and rocks get in the logs when Harding them out
When you have to leave downed wood , does it ever come up missing?
Yeah
Well done you, I wish I were 1/10 that fit but at 76 I can only wish.

Only way to roll
If it runs and makes me money I don’t care if it’s a Tesla and electric saw
Are you running stock saws or ported ?

What type of tree was that? Thanks
Douglas fir my friend aka RED FIR

Do you get permits for this? Or is anyone free to go out and get firewood?
Thanks, Melbourne Australia.
Yes I get a permit we are allowed up to 10 free cord and we can purchase as many resale permits as we want to resell it to the public

what kinda wood r u getting in this video
Douglas Fir
I believe I would have to watch the video it’s been awhile lol but I only cut Douglas fir and Or Tamarack aka western larch
I would like to order some hats and hodies from you as soon as you have them available to order
Yeah I see people buck their wood in little pieces. We always quartered it , less packing, less unloading.
You can fit more on the truck if you leave it big… because you can never stack a split up block tighter than it grows….
I like watching people cut firewood. Know why? "Cause it ain't me doing it.
A cord is 4ft high 4ft wide 8ft long is that how you are measuring your cord
Yes
