When playing most of Scott Ian's songs, you will find out right away how important stamina, picking efficiency, timing... and STAMINA are for your picking hand! I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with the guys from Anthrax back in the early 2000s. Scott's technic is amazing, but if you blink you'll miss it!! Great video
I had a 1989 ESP Mirage Deluxe made in NYC, USA. It was black with yellow crackle. Very easy to play. The guitar would stay in tune for ever. Floyd Rose tremolo
Finland has at least one who can play these great classic thrash-licks...! If RUclips was born then....when I tried to learn from bands Tablature-books..then it was the only way to learn these and you did NOT get sounds and gear !!! Hats off for Edge the man!!! Charvel/Jackson U.S.A custom shop forever
From what ive seen over the years in magazine interviews etc, Scott Ian’s jcm was modded but dunno which mod. Dan Spitz used boogies for leads, that he was constantly modding. They used cl80’s on spreading the disease and v30’s on Among the living, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were cl80’s in there too. I thought the Madhouse tone was my holy grail heavy crunchy tone, but the Among the Living tone has got to be the winner. Edit: i've just checked the gear listed in the Among the living tour program and both Scott and Dan have listed 320 watt Marshall cabs, with Scott using JCM 800 and Dan a MK III simul Class and Yamaha SPX90. So maybe it was the CL80's.
Man, you are super cool,, love the way you always start off introduce yourself with that great accent,, that's an awesome playthrough highlighting those precise picking,,,I wonder what hairspray Dan Spitz used in the 80s lol,I mean I didn't know the guy but always I got the impression he liked to look at himself a bit,😊,,also love the Amorphis Tee,,one of my fave bands 🤘🤘🤘
Euge, fantastic vid.. and you are spot on with the ESP "The mirage Custom".. I have what i believe is a 1989 (custom ordered stamped with serial number on back of headstock made Jan 20 1989) but has the NEW ESP Style 6 in line headstock (not jackson like your 87) but this was supposed to have been done in 1991.. since i bought it used in 1990 i can only guess.. mine has SHARK FIN inlays and matching white headstock.. both CUSTOM orders i assume.. anyway.. my ESP license FR broke a few saddles and one knife edge.. so i swapped OFR but had to dremel a bit of the cavity to make it fit.. also changed the stock LH500 HB and LH 850 Stacked Singles for EMG set.. added one tone knob.. .. best guitar i own still.. its bright and articulate.. super low action. .heavy maple neck through with no reference to the wings being ASH or ALDER or MAPLE?? not sure.. but mine is HEAVY.. great guitar.. wont ever get rid of her.. the EMG's make this one my Wolf Hoffman snappy power metal guitar.. she has a bright voicing .. fantastic.. great vid Euge.. !!! run through some Accept sometime.. the new stuff is killer and Blood of the Nations is imho their BEST album to date from 2010
Remember their mascot the “Not” guy. You’re channel is all killer and no filler Euge. I loved this song coming up. As usual note to note as the original! 🤘
At 3:40.............. MOSH !!!!!! 🤜🏼🤛🏼 I seen Anthrax, Exodus, and Helloween back around 1989 in Phoenix Arizona. That was a wild show. As expected, Anthrax had the pit going for most of their set. "Indians" is a lot of power chords, sliding, and palm muting chugs! 🤘🏼🤪🤘🏼
Love the old school ESP, those are awesome guitars! Kicking myself for selling my late 80s/early 90s ESP Horizon Custom with the same Jackson style headstock 🥲 Oh and great pick for the song and amazing playing as usual!
Yeah they work better to me. I shot this video several weeks ago and have done live shows with it now with Cyhra and the classic EMG 81-S-S does the job the way I like. It’s all about personal preferences. Thanks!
@@EugeValovirta230V I understand completely what you said, the JB was only in using that ESP and replicating the 80's trash sound of Anthrax and other metal bands. The holy trinity of the 80's metal sound, jcm800+ boss sd1+JB is present on the work of Jeff Waters, Gary Holt, etc. And if doubt persist, I will get my old Guitar World magazine at the bottom of the closet to prove what I'm saying. Ehehehehehehsh. Yes, I'm an old fart. Keep rockin Euge.
The sound comes mostly from the hands but I hear ya 😎. I sound like myself no matter the gear and I just prefer the feel & mojo of some gear more than others.
You F**KN ROCK Euge🤘🤘. Scott and Dan would definitely approve. 🤘🤘. Love your in-depth analysis, much appreciated, you my friend are a walking guitar tone & song encyclopedia👍🙏👏👊. How do feel about the John Bush days? Sound of White Noise is one of my favorite albums. But I really love Fueled (Stomp 442) + 'Inside Out' & 'Catharsis' (Volume 8 - The Threat is Real). If you ever get a chance, please cover those. I have the Scott Ian Digitech Black 13 with the Indians setting through a Mashall MG30 +ESP JH600. No where near the same crunching tone as you get with your amps & gear, but it does OK for me at home. Rock on Euge, you are a champion.
Is it possible that you could or know Zakk Wyldes song Darkest hour.. One of the most amazing solos I've heard. It's slower, but it is brilliantly put together. All time favorite Zakk Wylde solo. It's actually a Christian song he wrote. It is as if Jesus is singing. Even mentions the apostle, Thomas. About his doubt of Jesus's resurrection. Zack is Irish Catholic. And he does attend services as much as he can even on tour. Believe it or not, Ozzy does too.
Ive been practicing this tune lately the wrong way, now seeing this video making me playing it much better
Glad to hear!

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated 🙏.
Oh fuck 🤤 love that ESP!
Nothing beats an ESP or LTD into a Marshall in my opinion
Yeah! 🤟🔥
I had a 1989 ESP Mirage Deluxe made in NYC, USA. It was black with yellow crackle. Very easy to play. The guitar would stay in tune for ever. Floyd Rose tremolo
Cool!
Nailed it! What a great tribute to a classic.
Thanks!
That esp mirage is sick man
Yeah!
I don't think I've ever seen an Euge video I didn't enjoy. Keep up the good work my friend. Kippis!
Wow, thanks!
You nailed it man ! Great job 😃❤️
Thanks!
Awesome ESP!!
Yeah! Thanks!
That guitar is sick. I have a USA Jackson SL1 that is identical. Hss, neck thru. Same headstock shape. Perfection.

@@EugeValovirta230V I love your videos!!
Glad to hear thanks!
I can feel my hair growing twice as fast while listening to this.
Good 😎.
I played on EII MII ESP made in Japan, which reminds me your Custom ESP. They are so easy to play even for seasonal guitarist. Thanks.
Yeah!

Hey El Cavalberta !!
Anthrax song + OG 80's ESP (with THE Headstock!) + JCM 800 !!! Is there anything wrong ??!!!
Yeeeaaaah !!!
Or El Governor 😁. As far as I’m concerned; NO 😎.

Yeah they’re awesome indeed. This isn’t my only one from that era 😎.
Thanks!
EMG on that classic guitar? Nope, with Indians / Anthrax a JB it's the real deal. Excellent work Euge.
