“Scary thoughts” segment really opened my eyes.. I have scary thoughts but whenever I do I’m like what the hell, I will never hurt my baby I LOVE MY BABY. I just hug her and distract myself. I didn’t know it was normal, Still doesn’t make me feel better though. But very informative 👍🏽

@@DocSnipes I know there is, but everyone I know, doesn't know of this, most would say baby blues, or just depressed. My partner fell into PPD first, which wasn't recognised for months, so this also needs more attention during pregnancy, near the end, and after. Because I knew nothing of this until it was too late. Now me and my children are suffering... I'm sorry, I'm not annoyed with what you said. Just never knew something like this could happen to someone.

The worst thing was when my newborn baby was removed from my care and sent home with dad because of my scary thoughts...

I don't feel like over ever had PPD and my baby is almost 5 months old. But I have always had/still get the most disturbing thoughts about my baby. However thought is never me doing it, always a stranger! Like while on a walk "what if someone came out of the woods right now and shoves my stroller with my baby strapped in into the lake" or "what if his father randomly shakes him around violently" while I'm out shopping. I've always thought I was just trying to be aware of the worst scenarios but I feel like they fall more into the scary thoughts category as some of them get kind of gruesome and make me genuinely worry about it at the time so much as halfway through the walk I'll turn around to make it a short route, or call my boyfriend wanting a picture of our son to see he's okay. Though I try not to share why with him because I know it would hurt his feelings. Motherhood has been beautiful, awesome, and life changing. But definitely STRANGE.

It is possible you have postpartum anxiety... however, I really think we put too much emphasis on labels. The symptom is scary thoughts. The trigger is a fear for your child's safety. That is a natural reaction that seems to be in overdrive for you for some reason. We are bombarded by so much awful stuff in the media, your brain maybe having difficulty separating what is from what could be. I am just hypothesizing here. Here is a page on scary thoughts if you have not already seen it. postpartumstress.com/get-help-2/are-you-having-scary-thoughts/

For causes of PPD, could PPD be caused by the lack of support of the partner and emotional abuse?

in systemic therapy we see all the stress factors associated and the disease is really a symptom of the persons family dynamic, specially with her partner, most PPD cases don´t feel supported enough to be able to cope with the amount of responsibility that having a child implies
