We took all of our Christmas decorations out of the attic. We now have shelves and bins in the garage. We are getting older and decided to make it safer and easier.
I like that idea but our garage is filled with so much fishing gear but let me think on that. When our son comes over to help it works out but Hubby doesn’t always want to ask for his help.
Merry Christmas! And, yes, we reach a point when less goes up for decoration, and the bins be come fewer. This year, after Christmas, will be my biggest downsizing of decor yet!
Hi Denise. I am feeling you on taking the time to go through all the bins and donating a lot of stuff after the holiday season. I watch my hubby struggle to bring in all the bins as well and he doesn't want my help either He has had 2 knee replacements and I watch him resting afterwards with the heating pad. And like you, some of the bins hold things I never used. Not next year. I love him so next year it will be different.

This was so encouraging. It seems that so many RUclipsrs take holiday decorating to such a level that I just can no longer keep up with now that I'm in my 60s. My dad died just before Christmas in 2021 so we kept things really simple that year. And for whatever reason, I also didn't put out everything last year, either. We decided that we are fine with less so I labeled the boxes we actually used so we could start with those and then determine if we wanted any more. It looks like this will be our third Christmas in a row not putting every single ornament on the tree. It still looks very pretty and the best part is not having so much to put away in January. Many years ago before my husband retired I decided to take everything out of our attic. I freaked out when a very heavy box came down a little harder and I saw my husband’s body almost fall off that ladder like yours. Of course he insisted it was alright but I said we are not getting younger and stronger. We bought metal shelves with wheels from Lowe’s. I cleared a wall in the garage for the rolling shelf which is heavy duty and stored all my Christmas there. Plus those wheels sure do make it easier to clean the garage floors as well You all look so cute dancing together ~ Janet 🎄

Merry Christmas! Your home looks lovely. I have pared down each year, donating more each year. Last year I labeled each bin with big sharpie and taped a sheet of paper to each bin listing what is in each. This year I was able to just pick a few bins to pull and put out and not all of them, so it was very handy. It isn't easy letting go of some of the items, but I am glad I did and when I put things away this year, I'm already deciding what I am going to let go of this year. Oh and what I did this year if I didn't put it out last year and didn't want to put it out this year, it went in a donate box. I'm trying eliminate 1to 2 tote bins after this Christmas. We shall see :)

maybe do label system, christmas for entryway have 1's on them, and next room 2's, last room 3's. and put a note for him to put 3's in back, then, 2's, then 1's. and my dr. told me a few yrs ago, no more ladders. so it was time to declutter (donate) my some of my holiday items. and you know what, i dont miss it. no one in my family wanted them. something to think about. As for garage, maybe fish stuff needs a declutter for things broken or not being used. & 3 M makes broom holders-that could hold fishing poles. have a blessed year. 🙏🙏💗💗🤗🤗🎶🎶
