I did what you’re doing now last July and at Christmas time I decorated with what I had and anything that was left over that I didn’t used to decorate with I donated to the Goodwill and different donation centers. Exactly, Em. When it’s close to Christmas there is just so much going on. I’m glad I got this started sooner than later. Have you started sorting out your Christmas decor?
I did this last year. The items I kept were put in see thru bins and lined up against the wall inside my my garage, since I can no longer climb the ladder to get it up or down from the attic. I will probably purge again after Christmas. I am also doing the Swedish Death cleaning. My daughter is appreciative of my doing so.
I talked to my daughter this week about what decor items she might want and even what’s in the China cabinet she might want. She is appreciative that I am getting this started.
July is the best time to purge those Christmas Items! Our outdoor items are a childhood sled, a large carved wooden bear, and a pair of child’s wooden skis ( From Hub’s childhood). They get garnished with greenery , then stand on the front steps, then return to the garden shed for the rest of the year. We have just a small ranch house in Montana mountains, so the indoor decor is all fresh greenery with flameless candles. I am impressed with your progress!
How inspiring. Makes me want to get my Christmas decorations out of the garage. I purged a Little last year and gave it to My sister to decorate her flea market booth. Now I want to go much deeper. My husband departed to Heaven recently and so, I’ll have to do it alone which makes it more difficult. Thanks for the nudge to do this. Love your aprons.
Glad you kept the stockings. Can tell you are already looking forward to having all your family there this Christmas. What a blessing that will be for you.💝

Thank you, Love Lee. My husband thinks I’m a little weird that I think the angel is just a bit creepy. Hahaha! Have you managed to purge much? I could stand to give away more. Once Christmas is here, what I don’t use will be donated. Some homemaker will be blessed.

Setting a timer that's an awesome idea I got to try that I purged on Christmas stuff several years ago but I have added to it again so I need to go through it again thanks for sharing your ideas very inspirational
Hi Lucy, that’s the thing, we tend to bring in more. Now last year, since we were all on lockdown, for the first time, I didn’t buy more stuff. When I decorate this year, whatever doesn’t get used will be donated.
This video was FABULOUS!! I have two huge bins of Christmas decor I must go through. I already know I'll be passing along the many strings of lights and yards of garland since I no longer put up a tree. I'll probably be able to reduce my decor by half. Holidays are spent in the homes of one son or the other so I haven't bothered to decorate too much (just for me) for the past several years. The timer is a great idea.

Wow Denise great job! I have been working on decluttering my Xmas stuff each year before I put it away after Xmas. I went from 15 bins and 2 trees to 8 bins ( I think?) and 1 tree. I am hoping to reduce to 6 bins this year?? Kudos!! You deserve a pat on the back. 💜👍💜👍💜
I purged my ornaments before we put the boxes away in January. It felt good! I also separated my adult kids' ornaments (20 y o triplets) for when they are out on their own. I have a large nutcracker collection too. My daughter danced in the Nutcracker for many years. 🙂🎄

I used to have that many Christmas decorations. It just got to be too much each year to bring it down, put away my other decor, then pack it back up, take it back upstairs, and bring down my usual decor. Each year when I decorate I declutter about half of it. I'm down to 4 bins, and hoping to get it to 2 this year! @@homemakingwithdenise Hello Denise. I have my Christmas tree in its box and most of my decor waiting for me in my Living Room. I thought that using a timer was a great idea.

I did this right at and after Christmas. I went through every tub (18 big ones) and purged about half. I had over 900 ornaments. I laid a few hundred out on our guest room bed and on Christmas day I had my 2 daughters and my daughter in law go through them and pick out what they wanted. I didn't put out my favorites! My girls know they will get those when I'm dead :). After Christmas was over, my younger daughter and I put everything else out on the dining room table in batches and I facetimed with my oldest and the girls picked out what they wanted after I kept back the stuff I'm still using. What they wanted, other than ornaments, was surprisingly little. Mostly stuff that they remember from when they were little. I still have a lot, but it's all stuff that I will use. The ornaments are divided into 3 tubs - one of all my favorites, one of all beach, and another of all red. I rotate my tree each year between these collections. I do love Christmas. But I'm done buying more stuff for Christmas. I want to enjoy what I have, what I have collected, and I want it to be easy to decorate with and then put it all away in January. It was fun watching you unbox all your treasures. You have some wonderful decor items!

Hi, Denise! 😃 New subbie here! I found your channel through Michelle at My every day wife life. 🌸 That was very satisfying watching you sort through your Christmas 🎄 decorations! Good for you! I collect snowmen too! ⛄️ Such a lovely apron you’re wearing! ♥️
Thank you. That apron is one we got in for the holidays. We sold out of it quickly and I ordered more. They should be in soon. I did feel pretty good about purging some of that decor. I plan to purge more once I decorate. I decided whatever I don't use will probably be donated.
@@homemakingwithdenise Sounds like a good plan. I love your aprons! I was under the impression you made them. I really don't use aprons but that one tempted me! Haha! Also, the one Michelle ordered from you is really cute. I think it has an herb motif. I live in sunny and HOT Florida, so the fewer layers the better! :) Many blessings!
I have been going through stuff and getting rid of stuff but I haven't got to my Christmas stuff yet. @@homemakingwithdenise I was planning to do go through the holiday bins in September, but watching your video, I was tempted to get started right away. But I told myself: FOCUS! Finish your painting project and clean up that mess before starting another one! I'm currently prepping my kitchen/dining area so I can paint. While watching you, I decided that's the perfect place to drag the holiday bins to. It's already cleared out, so I'll have space to work, which will save time. I probably have 20 bins of Christmas items. I want to reduce it to 5 or 6. I already got rid of some in January. It's time to whittle it down some more. Thanks for the motivation!

You had a lot...job well done. I need to do my closet...Thank you
I love snowmen too
Great job, I need to do this, Christmas is hard to part with
Great, great idea!!
Great inspiration 👍👍 Thanks ☺️
Looks like I'm going to be cleaning out my Christmas stuff now as well. Thank you so much for the inspiration! :)
Well good on you to get this started. Let me know how it works out.
This was so helpful. Thank you so much❤️
The animated angel reminds me of the window display animated characters in department store windows. They are creepy when they have a painted on face or creepy motor sound. I remember L S Ayres and Blocks department stores had creepy elf's in their Santa wonderland lol 😆
I need to take your hint and go threw my buns as well...
“Chucky Doll” see if you sisters want it! 😂🙄🙄 That made my day.
This was awesome.. thank you so much
Great tips! Thank you🥰
I love your videos, this is dixie from texas, i am going to purge some of my christmas stuff also,
Sweet lady, enjoy watching you make tough decisions, lol!
I have been going through stuff and getting rid of stuff but I haven't got to my Christmas stuff yet. I love Christmas villages and I have alot and it's going to be hard to get rid of but I know I have to because I may be moving to a apartment so I have to downsize. I need some of your energy. I've been sick for 2 weeks so I'm hoping to feel better soon and get back at it. You did good, maybe I can. Lol😁
I,m actually bent watching your channel today! :-)
You're making me want to go through my Christmas bins...
Hi Missy, now is a good time to do. Is there anything in particular that’s holding you back?
Enjoyed your video. Now I need to do the same! Thank you. 🙂🎄
I use clear plastic bins for my Christmas Decor ...
You said " Your kids can deal with that when the time comes"? Ask them Im sure they won't want to deal with your clutter they will be too busy remembering what an amazing mum they had. Second declutter on Christmas is required. Xo
I've honestly never seen this much Christmas decor. Sweetie you need to get rid of about half of what you have left in my opinion. My mom has a 3,000 sq foot home and doesnt have near that. Her house looks plenty decorated. 😊♥️
Hahaha! T Fett, I hear you. I’m working at it. It’s a process. But what I am doing feels good. How about your Christmas decor. How much do you have?
for me i would have purged the measuring set. and i love snowmen. and you didnt show much excitement like the other items.
Angel reminds her of Chucky...lol
