Can you tell me the twist rate on that rifle is? I bought a heavy barrel savage in .223 that is a 1 in 9 twist so it likes a little heavier bullet but shoots 1/4 moa groups at 100 yards
@@bassboy99091 I would like to know also since rem 700 ADL's in 223 made since 2010 have been made with 1/7, 1/9, and 1/12 twists That I know of, but wouldn't surprise me if 1/8 and 1/10 barrels had also been made since 2010. I am guessing the paint job is covering the twist rate engraving since I asked last video what twist rate it was and he told me he wasn't sure.
Nice groups! Hey Adam, if I send you a bolt knob extension for that, will you try it out and see what you think? I love them, and some friends of mine are making them. Where do I send it?
Sure we could put the. Bolt handle in a video. All mail is received at heavy metal guns and outdoors in Bradyville, TN
55 grain bullets fly fairly well through most of the .223 rifle twists. I have an older 700 VS varmint synthetic (1/12" twist) that gives me 1/2" groups with 50 gr VMax homeloads. A second 700 BDL with Douglas premium 1/7" twist hoping to run 77 gr SMK but got my best results with 62 SMK. It can drive you crazy...Go figure my Ruger 77V, .308 can shoot 110gr VMax 3/4" , 150 gr very well, 168 gr 3/4". Haven't tried anything heavier.
Cheap ammo, cheap rifle, but very respectable results. Modern steel cased ammo can easily go toe-to-toe against brass. And if you are crazy enough, it can be even reloaded once or twice. Barnaul rocks and I know a few people using it for dynamic shooting competitions with great results. Appreciate the test and looking forward for more.
6:34 You shot the wings off that fly! Oh MAN! 🤯
Oh yeah, that monarch is on point...just like the shooter!
Man it goes to show you a person doesn’t have to spend huge money to go out and shoot some awesome groups
Monarch hollow point for the win! The only problem is I haven’t seen any ammo at Academy in a while!
I didn't expect that from the Monarch, but it sure did the job. Good luck on that hunt.
That’s a sick paint job man dude. Keep up the good work👍🐐👍🐐👍🐐👍🐐👍🐐👍
Nice steady shooting setup and follow thru on your part. Your ADL 'wants' to shoot!
All anyone was watching was the Tula results 🤧 only ammo under a buck a smile rn
Thanks for the video. I have never heard of the Monarch ammo. I have tried 55g, 62g, 69g, 75g and 77g in my rifles. Each rifle has its own favorites.
Monarch is the same as the old Red Army Standard and Max Steel. Made in the Vympel plant in Russia. Good ammo from my experience.
In case you are wondering what the twist rate is, I looked it up. The twist rate on this rifle is 1/12, so it favors 55 gr. bullets. Good video, bud! This shows how accurate 55 gr steel-cased wolf can be with the proper twist rate.
I'm one of the "2 waiting". I think Federal will do the best. We shall see...WTW!
You will be very surprised...
i'd picked barnaul before , cause i've seen a friend with really good results
This is about to be a really fun video
Did you notice that rifle is getting better group wise, with ammo it likes, the more you shoot it? I think it just needed enough break in rounds shot through it, to season the barrel. I believe, now, the more you shoot it, the better you'll like it.
Agreed, don't recall what the twist is on the barrel. If it's a fast twist it may not like 55 grain bullets.
Tom, from what i have read about those Remington 700s in 223, most were fitted with a 1 in 12 twist barrel.
@@slickdazzler7330 I think my 700 in 223 from the 60s is a 1:14. It was my grandfather's. I don't know what all he shot in it but he reloaded the 52gr Match HP and
that is what it shot amazing. That thing was top notch for 1960s and Unertyl 18x scope.
The WalMart on South Rutherford has .410, 20, and 12 gauge at the moment. Not a lot left though.
Federal and AA .410
ho my wow thank you for plate test at 100 yards. almost in tears, thank you so much.
I never thought I would like 223/5.56 but after building my first AR I'm really starting to enjoy it. Don't think I'll ever hunt with it even though our deer here look like jackrabbits with antlers. I prefer the 30cal for that.
I had a similar experience myself, I didn't care for the round, or the AR, until a few years back when I bought an AR, partly as an act of defiance against the political talking heads of that period. Now having spent more time with the cartridge in a couple of different platforms I've grown to really like it. I agree with you regarding deer hunting, I know many kill deer etc. without issue, but I'm always after the fastest and most humane kill and think a 30 caliber can achieve that more consistently and gives a bit more margin for error.
That 700 shoots better and better each video
I like it now
This is gonna be a fun chat.
Wtw I didn't know you can still hunt in March in tennessee? Here in nj I think hunting of anything is done by January except farmers who can hunt deer on their land cause they are considered peat to them.
You should still hunt deer with the Federal. It's a bullet designed to expand for medium game. The Monarch is probably a hp for varmints and may not do well with penetration.
Another great review. Much appreciated.
I did a quick search and the information I can find on that particular rifle is that it has a barrel with a 1/12 twist rate. Another quick search tells me that for that twist rate you will get better accuracy from lighter weight bullets, 40gr. to 50gr. But my AR pistol is chambered in 223 Wyld with a 1/8 twist (which is supposed to shoot heavier weights better) and shooting it out to a 100 yds. using 50gr. and up they all pretty much shoot the same. There may be a slight change in elevation, but close enough that there really isn't much of a difference.
Awesome video ..you sir are a blessing for people like me who want to go to the range but also want to hold onto most there ammo and don't want to shoot to much of that rare hard to find ammo any more ..
👍 that rifle is shooting much better than when you got it. Nice
Yeah it is a good one now!
Thanks for another really fun video!!!
Monarch HP is pretty impressive!!
You got me laughing early this morning good luck with 100-yard groups
Now there were some great groups! Good shooting!
Looking forward to it WTW!
Appreciate you watching!
I bought mine for $189 at Walmart last year! It was such a nice deal and watching these videos made me do some upgrades to it like getting a better vortex scope and a variety of ammo for it!
Love these videos player! Would love to see some turkey loads for the upcoming season!
Glad to see you got your ejector fixed buddy. And I love it when my closer makes ammo!
Love the ammo testa videos as well, makes my day
Hope that Federal does good for you who. Got to like these really fun videos, gods speed to Who Tee Who & Family 👍🇺🇸
A 21 gun salute. Great video
💥💥💥
Looks like about 200 bucks of ammo on the table according to today's ridiculous online prices. I'm glad I handload my 223 for less than 25c a round.
😬😬😬
I haven't bought any in a while, still have about 1000. I don't shoot 223 that much, mostly shoot 45 auto and 38/357 these days.
When 223/5.56 ammo was $1 a round a bit back, it was pretty scary to look at my loaded magazines and consider what the ammo plus the magazine was worth at those prices.
Thanks for letting the kids paint the rifle!
Good Video Who Tee, I've never seen some of that ammo. I think I would use a soft point for deer, varmit round for anything smaller.
My favorite cartridge. Great video. Surprisingly accurate ammo.
Love the paint job, looks great.
Outstanding video! Thats how you match a load to a rifle right there. You don't trash talk a budget rifle you figure out what it likes and out out shoot all the trash talkers with it.
Definitely surprised that the federal didn't shoot better, but the monarch definitely was super tight , the rifle loved that hollow point. Great video Wtw enjoyed it. Looking forward to you're next.
That rifle looks better and better WTW! Great shooting brother!🍻🤘🏽
Thanks WTW! I’ve been wondering about Monarch ammo. Gus’s I need to try some.
This is how its done people. If one doesn't reload this is how you find your groups. One needs to shoot at the least 10 types of ammo 30 is better.. Shooting 2 or 3 types and not geting it to group and then you declare it a bad rifle. No just a bad owner lol.
What twist rate for the barrel. It can make a difference for the ammunition that shoots best. Thanks for sharing
These are some of my favorite videos too different ammo same rifle 1 video.
Good video, nice to see someone using an accurate rifle and that can shoot testing some ammunition. There are too many videos out there of people with AR's (not saying AR's are inaccurate) shooting various ammo and saying it's crap as they shoot a 4-5" group. IME the steel cased ammo can be very accurate and consistent. I've found on a couple of occasions the expensive US made hunting ammo I bought, was not giving me better accuracy when I switch to that after getting roughly sighted in with cheap ammunition. I was expecting the group size to shrink as I switched ammunition, but it didn't really change, however in the main I still prefer to use it for hunting because the bullets themselves will generally perform better on larger game.
None of those were terrible but a few of them were exceptional. Nice shooting HTW.
Look forward to seeing the hunt !! Have a great day!!!!
Video out soon!
Good video thanks for the time and resources putting out a informative video. I been looking at that same rifle I’m gonna get one it’s plenty sufficient groupings for the price imho.
Thanks for watching Matt
Nice video!
There's soo many different 223 makes n weights.... you should do a part 2 and part 3 for this caliber 😎
Another great video brother
Thanks Travis!
Well done, who tee... your videos make my day...
Appreciate you watching!
I watch them because they are well worth watching; informative and funny...
Bout 3rd time seeing this.
Just awesome.
It show options.
Thx
Looks like we got more sketchy weather heading in for tomorrow ,stay safe brother
I like Tula and wolf personally for what I use but I think the federal will probably do best, not so much because it's brass as it's somewhat more consistent , I'm not familiar with monarch at all, never seen that before.
LOVE the paint
Thanks Jim
Great shooting bud
Hey it’s your camo rifle! This will be a fun video! I love Ammo testing!
I love shooting groups with .223, I get really pretty awesome groups with my Ruger American Predator, I’ve taken it out to 400 yds
Awesome
Great video and nice shooting WTW..🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
My ADL with the 1/12 twist shoots 52 grain bullets the best. I didn't have the opportunity to say this earlier but I did shoot a 60 grain Sierra flat based hollow point over some Winchester 748 and I was duly impressed. I have not been able to duplicate that with other 60 grain bullets. Unfortunately, the 60 grain Sierras are hard to come by.
At least the Monarch FMJ ammo puts an honest picture on the box of what the groups will look like 😂
So the “cheap” stuff is right on target. 🤙🏼
Nice ammo test!! 💪🏾
Hey cr42
Would love to see this video in 7.62x39, also would love to see a 300 RUM in the future
My 700 Magpul in .308 only shoots brass ammo pretty decent and I've had good results with Federal Power Shok in .308, my guess is it will do well with your 700. This should be interesting.
Really good groups overall.
Fun Video! 🤠
Thanks for watching!
@@WHOTEEWHO Always enjoy your Videos, PLUS what Red Blooded American doesn't Love Gomer Pyle! 🇺🇸
I was surprised by the Monarch hp. I figured that the Wolf would do fairly well. It's my experience that Wolf 55 grain hp and Remington 55 grain sp will shoot very close to the same. Thanks WTW.
I sure hope you are able to see I guessed it right. I’ve shot it before and it grouped well, but not that good. I can’t wait to see you do some hunting with that load and let us see the Bullet performance. I know you might have to do a separate video, so it won’t be DEMONIITIZED, but we’d really appreciate seeing the bullet performance. And as always Bro. Awesome video WTW.
One of the fairest comparisons I've seen. Thank you once again.
Thanks for watching
Great paint job too👍
Dang! That Monarch hp did pretty good! If you have the time, maybe do a gel test with that ammo and see how that projectile does. I've seen other gel test video's where the steel cased hp don't expand at all. If you don't care about the expansion, then Barnaul or the Monarch would be some accurate ammo to use.
👍👍
great video as usual, honestly in a bolt action i would like to see at least 62 grs or more bullets , maybe even 75-77 ones. But i understand we are living in crazy times.
I apologize for my bad english and keep bringing really fun videos ;)
Thanks for watching Fabio
I used lots of Monarch and some others. Boy the prices sure went up.
Wasn't expecting that Monarch Hp to be that effective. Asking for an expansion test . Not sure how import steel case Hp expands . Thanks Adam
Hoping your doing well, Gods Speed to ya Randy. 👍🇺🇸
Just got a howwa 1500 223 bolt action it’s a awesome small little caliber rifle I’m gonna take it out deer hunting next year instead of my 30-06 probably going to buy a 300 Blackout next year
Cheap and ok with it. A lot of steel case stuff. Good shootin. Who-tee-who
Thanks for watching Tom
I got super tight groups with Monarch 55 Grain soft points with my AR 15. I wish I had bought more when it was still available.
Wow im a month behind the monarch did great from my point of view and congrats on fixing the extractor 👍🏻👍🏻☠️
hey jeremy! really appreciate you watching
Good shooting !!
💥💥💥
I've watched some of your videos twice and I'm still watching what else can I say
Really appreciate you watching Gary. Means a lot
@@WHOTEEWHO what is is what ain't ain't what it is is your videos later tater
The Remington 700 ADL in 243 is next on my to get list .
Feds for me on that choice , Rem cor lock my favorite for hunting and accuracy .
Hey Who Tee Who! Did you release your deer hunting video with the 223 yet? I can't seem to find it.
Hey bud very nice rifle and cool looking home made paint job! You should try A model 10 savage in 223 Remington as well. Try shooting some 55 grain federal American eagle fmjs. I shoot them out of mine and I put 5 rounds In the size of a dime at a 100 yards with it. The scope I’m using is a Walmart Simmons 4-12x40 mildot scope. Keep up the videos man I love watching them.
In the house
I’d have picked the brass stuff but happy to see the Barnaul did so well. Even happier, as where I’m from up north of the border, that Barnaul ammo is pretty readily available and like yourself, I’m cheap. Is it that big of a deal that your rifle was sighted in using the Barnaul?
What type of shooting rest are you using in this video? I have a similar rifle as you mine is a BDL with a Sendero contoured barrel.
Also I really like the federal fusion 62 grain bullets.
that paint job actually looks really nice
Thanks 🙏
Accurate rifle and very good shooting. I actually thought that the hospital would be the least Accurate, but one never knows until tested.
I use old coloring paper that my 2year old is done with lol
Didn't think plinking ammunition would shoot that good. That rifle is grouping now. I chose the Barnaul and the Federal. The Monarch ammo was surprising almost as good as handloads. If they are using ball powder that is impressive now I need to find some boxes pull the bullets weigh the powder charges knowing 55gr fmj SP and HP very little difference in bullet type but the weight and length of the bullet and the powder type speed and charge make a difference I like Hodgdon and Alliant Powder extruded I can use a diamond scale to weigh fractions of a grain of powder for match ammo. The barrel doesn't heat up as much and is much more hot/cold stable less velocity variances with extruded powder ethyl centralite coated vs ball powder. I mentioned before I reverse engineered a load for my .222 Remington with PRVI Partisan ammunition as it shot very well in my Bergara/Shillen Barrel. I'll try a couple of these in my .223. If ya have a reloader here is my favorite recipe that works in several .223s Cases
weighed match prepped hand polished with 0000 steel wool. CCI Small Rifle Primers standard not the match type. Remington Brass Cases. Any bullets I am Partial to Hornady 75grand 52grAmax and 69gr Sierra Match Kings Speer TNTs and about any generic 55gr fmj or Spire point lead soft tip. Use 55gr fmj with my recipe. Load to 2.25"oAL Hodgdon Benchmark Powder 22.8 or 23.1 grains. This powder weighs and throws like ball but is tempurature stable and accurate in every caliber I've tested it in. It groups tighter than the Barnaul and is precise will take the BB out of the penny 1 hole.
Monarch hollow point is impressive .
ALGORITHM COMMENT!!! D: 👀😮
Yup...I leave those too.
The barn all the Monarch and the Wolf pretty impressive rounds
Monarch Ammo is Barnaul ammo just put in a different box for Academy sports, well the steel case at least I dunno who makes their brass 223, weird how it was the worst and best groups even tho its the same ammo.
Fun video, love to see ammo test videos, but hard to do now I know. Still good groups for hunting out of all that ammo. I wish I was closer to you and I'd take your rifle and hand load you some hunting rounds that would shoot inside that penny.
Thanks for the video. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for watching dragonrider
Just out of curiosity what is the barrel twist?
