Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
The leader has zero stretch to it ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOnWw4BwVtrW450xWozo3OpVX4931NDw5 which is expected from a wire leader. Can’t test the quality of all the snaps yet but packaging was nice and neat and I couldn’t get anything to happen when I pulled on it.
No the root river is very shallow best bet is to go in winter to the root for steelhead there are very few tributaries in wi that hold summer steelhead and few and far between.
Did not know there were places to fish for steel in the summer months.. I know in Lake Ontario they are only in the tribs from fall through spring so we normally have to wait.. I wish they came back up in the summer
I was planning to start fishing with eggs, what would you recommend. I’ve heard people use both salmon and steelhead eggs. idk what’s better. Id have to buy some eggs from somehere but im not sure where to start or what to buy, is there anything you can recommend
I have been trying to get on steelhead the entire time I've lived in Michigan. Only landed little ones. If I never land a walleye again it will be too soon lol.
Many tributaries have great runs especially in the fall - I also caught some steeelhead and salmon from jetties and piers in the lake in Illinois, Michigan and Indiana - even in parks in Chicago (North Lagoon).
Most summer steelhead will die after being caught. Unless landed within a couple minutes. Water temps are too high and they can’t recover. Catch and release for them is a death sentence. If you’re going to fish for skams please catch your limit and go home.
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 weird how you didn’t respond to the limit comment though. I’ve revived these fish no problem, because I have no need to take em out of the water. That's some sick footage. My heart is racing.
That’s what it’s all about!😎
I agree, amazing footage for sure!!

Thanks! Not easy always
That was epic!

Your Welcome. Sincerely the Pacific NW
Do you guys know if they're running on the root river in Wisconsin.
Not sure!

It’s a different strain they stock around here. Lots of fun, they got a little more go to em than normal steel
@@sbsoutdooraction3055 thanks for responding bro!!.. you guys have some sick gear I would love to get 👌

I live in Indiana I can fish for steelhead 12 months out of the year. Summer run steelhead are called scamania.
What pound test do you use?
12-14

Hey man just curious is this berrien springs?
What river is this?
this in michigan?
Any advice for finding spots such as this yourself? Is it just exploring time on the different tribs or do you have to know the right people?
Time on the water!

Where is this at state and river name please those are some amazing fish
Awesome video, wished Washington have rivers or creeks like this
They do bro
@jshenbdjwla1463 if Washington have rivers such as this then I don't know any...lol
we have some of the best steelhead fishing in the country, also these fish these guys are catching arent real steelhead
@@BadAssBassFishermen let's go, let me know when, bro
I had no idea salmon are in the creeks this time of year. whereabouts in MI?
These are steelhead!
What do you use on the hook?
What line do you use under bobber?
Shrimp or fish eggs. We run flouro carbon line around 10lbs
I was planning to start fishing with eggs, what would you recommend. I’ve heard people use both salmon and steelhead eggs. idk what’s better. Id have to buy some eggs from somehere but im not sure where to start or what to buy, is there anything you can recommend
Both work about the same imo. All personal preference. Collville outfitters or Pautzke sells eggs if you’re in a pinch. Goodluck!
This looks like early June. Can you fish like this with these kinds of results in July/Aug?
All depends on weather/water conditions
When is the skam run? how long does it last and when does it end
All weather dependent but July-Sept in general
sick! you eat them or release back?
Thanks! We keep them in the summer due to low survival rate
I have been trying to get on steelhead the entire time I've lived in Michigan. Only landed little ones. If I never land a walleye again it will be too soon lol.
Just gotta keep at it! Summer can be tough, fall winter & spring will be your best bet
Many tributaries have great runs especially in the fall - I also caught some steeelhead and salmon from jetties and piers in the lake in Illinois, Michigan and Indiana - even in parks in Chicago (North Lagoon).
Do you run skam charters?
we do not
merch link not working
Should be fixed now! Thank you for letting us know🤙🏻
Was this very far upstream?
Not necessarily
Is your salmon rig same for steelhead
Pretty much just bulked up line and float size
What is your bait?
Shrimp or fish eggs
When do the skams stop running?
They’ll run all summer & fall
Michigan or indiana?
I thought the Michigan limit is 3 each
Some rivers they reduced the limit to one.
Can’t you keep fishing as long as you release them?
@@Bpositiveandprosper yes
Skams don’t live often after release, warm water & they fight themselves to death.
Most summer steelhead will die after being caught. Unless landed within a couple minutes. Water temps are too high and they can’t recover. Catch and release for them is a death sentence. If you’re going to fish for skams please catch your limit and go home.
Any more pier content coming for the year?
Yessir! Soon
Do you ever harvest any fish?
We harvest most summer steelhead due to low release rates
No way this is I’m wa 😂
limit is 2 reinbows in ontario
Wanna show an Oregonian how to fish your neck of the woods in exchange to fish my neck of the woods?
Over trout.big deal dime a dozen here in mn
Not much as fun as a monster trout in a small stream.
Damn right!
Lemme hold this fish outta water for as long as possible while I promote Suck Balls Outdoors. Fish were killed on this day. RIP
Yes. All skams get kept since they die once caught in the summer. Get a life
