I did this in the early 90’s. I missed the truly best years but I still got to fish with 400 of my best “friends.” Got a 24lber on my wall, for the effort. Haha
Yes, some of the guides actually guide by helping their clients get the right setup, how to read water, and advise them where the fish might be holding. Some other guides are pretty much an "entry" ticket to fish on tribal land, and these guides don't even seem like they fish on their free time as a passion.
@UrbanAngler206 yeah I'd be interested in learning how to fish for these, I've got salmon down pretty well and all the gear for that. Just limited on open steelhead spots as most of us are with wdfw closing some rivers early :(
@@BlackRifleSurvival If you want to try fishing on the Quinault reservation I have a guide I can recommend. He does both guided walk-in and drift boat trips. He puts us on fish every time. Just send me a PM if you want his contact.
@@randysmith8604 yeah, it'd be awesome on a weekday. All the fish caught were in the low to high teens. I wouldn't fish here on a weekend again though. Way too many people, some folks were just plain rude. It's just fishing, it's not that serious...it felt like the Puyallup River during pink season.

Yes, there is a lot more fishable stretches on this river. However, most of these guides probably just take you to this spot since it's easy access and minimal work is needed for them and their clients. If you want your monies worth I'd find a guide is who willing to explore ie. Hike and/or drive to different spots along the river. Our guide gave us the option to hike 1/2 mile down river to avoid the crowds but we became complacent after landing my first fish. Lol
ok so i havent got a steelhead before and i been fishing for them for about 8 years now and i want to fish on the rivers on the quinualt rez and i cant cause im not native so depending if you a guide or not maybe me and my buddy could go and meet you there and you can help get my first steelhead
@@Sea-townRaisedOutdoorsthe 29th. Morning bite was hot then died down after 10am but still fish caught here and there. I couldn't capitalize on a second fish, too many people competing.
@Jj_9457 Yup, on that day I fished this river there were a couple usual suspects who always had something to say when things didn't go their way. I am thinking "c'mon, you signed up for this combat fishery experience, why fret over it?"
Man I thought the Samish combat fishing was hectic lol. Well at least it's 2025 now so there will be humpies mixed in with the hos and hopefully wdfw will stop closing sections down early. I can't fish my local river now for steelhead :(
Reminded me of fishing Blue Creek on the Cowlitz in the 70's-80's before the landslide... only more relaxed here...lol.

Nice steelhead!
Good job,
They do "guided" walk ins here?

just like anywhere else, the number of people make that place not fun.
Yeah, it was pretty overwhelming. Definitely not a place for a beginner.
Tooo many guys bombing that one hole and the drift looked fast. Fifteen to 20 seconds in the sweet spot before your washed out?
Haha I was there that day too! Was hoping you caught something with that spinner
Did you end up getting a fish or two?
When you have to pay to pretend you’re a steelheader
I fished there last yr. We caught a few fish drifting worms. Awesome place

Looks wild, do you have to be a native or be with a native to fish it?

Isn't there more fishable water on that trib to spread the guys out, instead of that one section? I am sure the fish scatter after the sun comes up.

I am not a Quinault guide but if you need a recommendation just send me a private message. My guide knows his stuff.
How is this any fun. I get these fish solo in the mountains haha. Glad you enjoyed it
❤😂😊
No thanks

Hella gay, trout fishing in a pond
In NO way can that be fun

@@BlackRifleSurvival Are you coastal? WDFW just shut down a bunch of coastal steelhead fisheries.
This looks like a cluster 🤬. Kind of defeats the whole idea of reconnecting with nature.
