I was awake all night in the SE USA to watch Steve Irwin’s Memorial LIVE as John sang this song & was immediately hooked. I played it for my preschool class almost daily after that & they loved it. In the US, I compare the sentiment to ‘Find Out Who Your Friends Are’ by Tracy Lawrence. John’s song has a smoother sound, but Tracy’s song hits the heart in a similar way:)🙏🇺🇸🙏🇦🇺

I used to laugh at this song as an America-worshiping, 90s Aussie teenager. I now greatly admire the man’s authenticity. In a sea of Aussies faking US accents, Williamson stands tall and proud, unashamedly showcasing our unique drawl. I love our American friends and the amazing musical canon they’ve gifted the world.
