She is my favorite that I've heard. Incredible. She's exactly in the zone of what I like in playing: no shenanigans in phrasing, an ear for the expressive long game, a sound palette that is nothing but gorgeousness yet big emotional range that evokes great contrasts. Disciplined tempo and rubato that doesn't yield to surface drama. So rare these days.
Why hasn't the RUclips algorithm recommended her beautiful playing to more people? I've listened to almost every contestant and she is one of the few that I sincerely loved and come back to. Her sound is so warm and sensitive - it brings me so much comfort and joy to hear her play. Her interpretation of Op. 10 No. 8 is my absolute favorite.
I agree completely with you! One of the finest piano playing I ever heard in my whole life. Reminds me the musicality of Guiomar Novaes, Gina Bachauer and Rosita Renard. Beautiful and profound!!!!
Avery has captured the essence of each piece with understanding and artistry. I love how every note, every phrase contributes to the concept of the grand design and structure, all in perfect proportion. And oh, that gorgeous tone! A wider range of dynamics and tone color is sure to come and will enhance what is already outstanding. Brava!
I am so captivated by her playing right at the first few notes of her Nocturne! My gosh. Unique and elegant interpretations as well. A finalist material.
Her touch and sensitivity on the piano shows true mastery. Not many other pianists in the competition have this quality. That being said, I would have liked a little more power/brightness to her playing but she will definitely pass multiple rounds.
@@zegaoyiyeah piano quality definitely plays a big part. I have an old story and Clark piano that is unable to produce any sound above Forte. It’s frustrating but I just have to deal with it
I remember her excellent playing in the junior Chopin competition, shaking my head wondering how a kid can play so well while so young. Now, she has certainly bloomed out musically. Her playing of the etudes in F major and E minor are fresh and a technical marvel.
Dużo liryki, romantyzmu, pięknie opowiada nutami utworu. Dźwięk ciunia metaliczny - ale czysty👍Umie w sposób poetycki nadać utworowi charakter.. Pieknie👏👏🙋♀️❤️😘
I was impressed with her technical facility, her sound and evenness which was uncommon in this competition. I was there at the USA Chopin Competition in Florida and Avery was awesome in every way. She is a student of Gary Graffman, reputed to be one of the greatest teachers of all time. I hope she makes it to the finals.
Very elegant and beautiful. She improves a lot since winning USA Chopin Competition, and her music is more mature and delicate now. IMO, It would be nicer if more energy and passion can be added on to bring more colors in her Chopin.
Of the American pianists that have performed in the first round, I think Avery Gagliano has the best chance of reaching the top 10 of the finals. Her performance of the Ballade in G minor was superb.
Even Bella Davidovits s still alive I think we have the reincarnation of her here, what a true Chopin tone and technic, purifies my soul to listen to her ❤️🌹
This lady reminds me of alfred Cortot. I refer to the 5th etude of op. 25. The Chordal appegios that float above the beautiful melody in the bass has to be as light as possible. A significant acheivement, There is some room for more lightness - however under the pressures of competition it is the best I have heard here or anywhere!
This is why I disagree with studies that say that the piano is rated third under the French Horn and Violin. What is not taken into account is how the tendons and ligaments of both hands have to be stretched unnaturally. This makes the piano the number one most difficult instrument to master!
I am a professional performer (organist) and you feel enormous the tension in your body playing at the highest level. You need nerves like steel to play like Avery.
Very elegant and well rounded performance. But I was not mesmorized by it. I think the Steinway 476 would have suited her more, the 300 is too soft for her already sweet tone. Now it lacks a bit of spirit. She is a finalist in my opinion nevertheless.

honestly, her Etude in e and Ballade In g are the best I've seen in this competition so far. Im still in awe.
E minor Etude was truly exceptional
Sad that she didn’t make it in the finals. I feel her concerto is her strongest argument, by far!
The first interpretation is one of the best in RUclips. The atmosphere she creates is amazing

Excellent comment, Virginia. She is outstanding!

i think it's just the piano's problem (i noticed most of the other pianists who used the steinway 300 were unable to produce a powerful sound)
@@zegaoyiyeah piano quality definitely plays a big part. I have an old story and Clark piano that is unable to produce any sound above Forte. It’s frustrating but I just have to deal with it
Watched her second round, she will be the winner
I remember her excellent playing in the junior Chopin competition, shaking my head wondering how a kid can play so well while so young. Now, she has certainly bloomed out musically. Her playing of the etudes in F major and E minor are fresh and a technical marvel.
She is absolutely full of talent. Definitely a winner 👏🏻👏🏻

She should have been among the winners.
I like Chopin. So I am lucky to know her here. She is perfect !

I love this performance. Nearly Immaculate.
She'll definitely be a finalist.
Really hope so; the transition she does @12:10 towards the end of the Etude 25-5 is epic!
우승후보로 점 찍는다 Avery I love your playing so much!!! So good 👏 👏 👏
She has wonderful taste as far as dynamics and choice of phrasing.

God yes
We would like to hear the Ballade Op.23 one more time, please... Oh, wait, we can replay it again and again @13:01 in RUclips! Lucky us!
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the winner.
Of the American pianists that have performed in the first round, I think Avery Gagliano has the best chance of reaching the top 10 of the finals. Her performance of the Ballade in G minor was superb.
I think you're right.
And Evren Ozel.
Muzykalna, czująca Chopina, słuchało się z przyjemnością
Even Bella Davidovits s still alive I think we have the reincarnation of her here, what a true Chopin tone and technic, purifies my soul to listen to her ❤️🌹
Beautiul !! I love her piano.
She has that quality like in the golden age

Actually she is from the FLV LangLang 2016, I remembered her
Amazing interpretation of my favorite nocturne :)
18:20 there's a lot of pianists that sounds struggle at this part, but she played it well. Bravo gal!!!
I like the rhyme in her performance, so we can call Chopin a pianist-poet.
I am not sure what she was doing with the pedal during the Ballade but it was unique
I predict a podium finish...
such lovely playing!!
Etude 10-8👍
Fantastic
Nice touch.
lovely!
Wow!
Awesome!
This pianist should have been in the finals. She breathes new beauty into a ballade that had grown stale for me.
love your music❤️
Loved her playing! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
美しいショパンだ
美しいけど、全部同じ調子に聞こえる。バラードはもっと弾き方変えてほしかった。
Quelle musicalité, mademoiselle ira loin
Brava!!!

Beautiful performance. Started to run out of steam slightly, towards the end of the G minor ballade, but overall this is really fine playing!
BRAVA
If she ends up being a finalist I'm going to be officially upset
So I am the only one who is bored by this performance?
Where does she study at ? is she another Curtis student ?
Who is curtis?
She studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia with Gary Graffman who taught Yuja Wang and Lang Lang.
@@rfrancisfawkes105 She made the next round. but sarah tuan didn't make it. not sure what happened ??
@@TheDrakulie yeah and her results were great aswell. 12th i think
@@TheDrakuliei I heard Sarah Tuan perform. She has improved tremendously and should have made it to the next round. - Awesome playing.
Sorry good techniques but nothing else to feel.
so so
