There are a lot of videos like this one that talk through all the characteristics of the Rodecaster Pro. Not many that discuss how to employ it in video production and streaming. Unfortunately, despite the title, this was left out here as well. Guess I'll have to go elsewhere.
This device seems amazing, it’s a OB (outside broadcast) system all in one box! This tutorial has sold me on it! The processing, the memory and the ease od use!!! SOLD!
I have no experience running a audio board system, doing pre or post production, and I purchased my rodecaster about a month ago and Im getting ready to start doing our radio internet show, and this rodecaster is just amazing! Great video by the way, THANKS!!!
I know you did this video Aug 4,2019 that was awesome my friend and you gave a great simple overview and intuitive on that RODe Caster Pro I’m in the USA 🇺🇸 and I’m getting one.. Thank You for taken the time to do this..
I just unboxed my system last night. I like the fact the arm comes with two different ways to attach to a table, you either screw it like in this video or use the clamp which is super easy and very sturdy. I was able to set up all 4 arms, podcaster pro, and the two monitors on a small table about 30" wide. Connecting the cell through Bluetooth was the best method because you have less cables to deal with. The 4 xlr cables this system brings are 15' long and way more than what I needed so I kept it tied with a zip tie that came with the cables. The monitors did not produce sound at first so I had to turn off power then back on the monitors themselves. The red mute button on the bottom work as expected. This system has a C-port in the back which connects to your computer through USB.
I’ve ordered mine and waiting but what a great start. The more videos I watch on the rodecaster the more I feel I invested in such a great product! You have just gained a new subscriber. Awesome video!
Just bought one! I do a music podcast and this gives me EVERYTHING I’ve wanted all in one place. You have the BEST tutorial on RUclips for this mixer! Simple, to the point and thorough. Thanks👍✨🎶
Clickbait or no, don’t really care. I really liked the way you explained the device. I’m looking into getting one to improve my audio for RUclips, as well as using it for podcasts. For a beginner like me , this has been a very useful video. Thank you for taking the time to create it.
I have been trying to find out if there was a way of using for a radio station & thanks to you with informing me about the line in feature. No other video mentions this even one from a RADIO COMPANY on RUclips.
Great video. I just got my RodeCaster delivered today. Unfortunately, I need to wait to play with it until tomorrow when my new Shure SM7B arrives. I have always been a video guy, but I am looking to expand into podcasting and using this for live and voiceovers. Using this to capture audio from multiple people when you are doing video voiceovers; such as telling a story.
I’m sold. This seems great. Yeah, someone who knows a little bit of audio could do everything that this mixer does with cheaper ones, but it is absolutely convenient to have it the easiest way posible and just focus on the content side of things. Also the preamps and the extra processing sounds great.
I wish you guys would have showed exactly how to set it up to do a video recording though. This is pretty much just showing how it works when you do a normal audio podcast. Im trying to figure out how you add video with it. Any suggestions on where I might find more info on how to do that? Thanks.
@@vanhargis572 Haha yeah I know and it looks like a lot of other people are wondering the same thing. I wish they would reply back and offer some help.
@@DaCake2 @van Hargis the RODECaster Pro is solely an audio device, it does not feature any video inputs. As such you would need to mix the audio and video externally from this device. This can be done in a variety of ways but the simplest would be with a software mixing application, like OBS, Wirecast or vMix. You'd need a video I/O device to connect your video source to your computer but in these software applications you can take video and audio from different sources.
@@ScanProVideo Hi there... thanks for the reply. I actually have the Rodecaster pro and I totally get all that, but we are looking to add video to our podcast and from reading your title, I took it that you were going to explain WHY you thought it was good for video production and how exactly to set up video with it. Thanks anyway for the reply though.
@@DaCake2 The Rodecaster is great for video production because it takes a lot of the stress out of getting high quality, professional audio for podcasts or small live events. Not every camera operator can be an audio engineer so the Rodecaster makes getting the best audio possible really simple. You might want to take a look at our video on setting up Wirecast: ruclips.net/video/zUPo0Zj4Mio/видео.html This goes through setting up a live stream within Wirecast including adding sources. As you can add different video sources to Wirecast, you can also add different audio sources. As such you can combine the output of the Rodecaster with any video sources you can get into your computer. I hope this helps!
This was a really good video.. Probably the best one I've seen thus far regarding the Rodecaster Pro.. I just purchased one the other day and I am extremely excited about its capabilities for my online radio show.. This is truly gonna enhance the quality of presentation for my show and I'm looking forward to it.. Thank you

Thanks for this brother! Ive been using the Rodecaster but there were a couple of features I wasn't certain of and you answered all of my questions. Stay blessed man!
Newbie here - thinking this is the set up for me and my future pod- how do you incorporate video into this for streaming? Through the computer - I know is one way correct? - is there a software I use on the computer? or can you hook up a camera? So bad a tech. lol. Any information is great. Thanks!
Its a TRRS cable input, but I'm not sure what kind of cable would work from a line input (like a DJ mixer outs to a TRRS input cable?) It would be nice if there was an explanation somewhere of what to use to get that phone input as a line input. That would be boss!
Okay, I don't wish to sound stupid, but as I am.....I currently use Audacity for my podcast so if I make any mistakes I can just go back and redo them, can this be done here AND my shows have to last exactly 60 minutes is there anyway, apart from having stopwatch/clock, I can tell what time I'm up to?
Nice video. What about this scenario for the RODECaster: 4 microphones (4 people input) and not record (or simultaneous record for backup if possible)....output RODECaster .....into to two DSLR camera inputs so video does not need to be sync'd in post. Is this possible ?
Hi i am new in this i buy a Rodecaster Pro and i an looking for a easy to use software to record my audio with videos at the same time. any help. Thanks
Great video! I just got the RODECaster Pro and I’m trying to record in to GarageBand but I keep getting an error message when I drag the files in. Can you explain why that is?? Also, What is the entire process to get the RODECaster companion app? How do I use the RODECaster’s website for downloading updating firmware? Is that something free, or do I have to pay some sort of subscription to the website?
This is everything I would like to start my live radio broadcast, in my home. How much would the mixer and moco cost me for all the equipment that I need to get start? This is the third video I have watched tonight.
Hey mate, Great video Thanks. I love my Rodecaster Pro & now the 2.1 firmware update is out Man O Man it's tripled the Rodcasters capabilities big time! Cheers from #iSpike New King Of Live Streaming
If you're using the Rodecaster Pro for radio on a remote or outside broadcast, wouldn't it be better to have the processor off because the sound will go through the station's own processor as it goes out?
Have u experienced the mic arm connected to the table guests are sitting on , capturing un- necessary noise from the tap of the hand on table ? How do you fix that ?
Thank you for this very informative tutorial of the RODECaster Pro! The question that I have is.. how can I bring my co-host for my video podcast into view as I live in Los Angeles, CA and she lives in Canada? I am starting a video podcast so I would like her to be on the screen so viewers will be able to see her as well as hear her. How would I go about this if possible and what gear would she need on her in?
Is there a way to delay certain audio channels? I would like to use this with video, but the audio needs to be delayed by a couple of hundred milliseconds in channels one and two, but not other channels.
you mentioned you can listen to some audio without the recording or other people in podcast hearing what you are previewing....where and how did you do that? I can't find any explanation about that.
Great video - a couple of (probably obvious questions) Does the roadcaster have phantom power on all four inputs? And what is the best way to output to an iPhone (dealing with output levels too) for like Fb Live? Thanks so much.
I love it too. However, I've had issues with the audio from the rodecaster syncing with the video from my GH5's. If it's an hour long video, by the end of the video, the audio track is about 1 second off. Rodecaster tech support suggested some software that will transform the audio file to fit to these videos, but it just feels like that shouldn't be necessary. Have you done any longer videos and run into this? I've just been "adjusting the duration" of the audio clip from the rode until it lines up, but that's such a pain in the butt. Curious is you've had this issue and what you do about it? Or if it's preventable! Thanks!!!
Hey Brian, I've experienced this before when trying to sync external audio recorders and a video. Typically it comes down to the frame rate you're filming in. Filming in something other than 23.976 will sometimes throw off the timing for some reason. Hope that helps a little bit!
How about to buy one Roadcaster pro, could I have a good deal for my song cover recording. To explain me simply as a RUclipsr ( singing & recording with karaoke HD). Could it give to me with more deals, especially on having manageable echos & with reverb sounds. See you around, right here watching from ROMA con AMOR!
This video is awesome. When having someone on the phone and I'm playing something either on my pads or from computer the person on the phone does not hear what I'm playing. Is there a feature for allowing or preventing this?
Getting the Rodecaster pro, but is there an "inexpensive" way to also record a live feed from multiple cameras while switching between them so you don't have a ton of editing in post?
There’s a program called “Logitech capture”. I plug in two usb webcams and 1 usb yeti microphone and you can do what you’re asking for. Be sure that you computer/laptop is up to par with specs though.
Do I still ne a pre amp / audio interface or cloudlifter using a shure sm7b for example before using this? I doubt that I can just plug a SHURE SM7B in and go?
Nidus I saw a video where someone used the SM7B with just the preamps of the mixer and it sounded pretty good. I also too want to know, because knowing the SM7B you almost always need a Cloudlifter or something to not stress your interface/mixer preamps and actually get a good signal.
Great video. Is there a line out of the Rode that could go into a Mevo camera or similar, so that the mix of 2 voices on microphone for example can be synched with video? If so, would it go directly into the camera, or via an iRig 2 or iRig Pre accessory?
You could use the headphone jack at the front or back depending on what you use to monitor. You would have to be careful with balancing it as its not a true line out but it could work
The outputs on the back are 1/4" They are monitor outputs. They hear what ever is selected to monitor. As they are facing the back, the same as the XLR inputs - I suspect they are for the users of the mics. There is a monitor output in the front as well, which is 1/8 and convenient for the operator of the device. It really is an amazing tool - just got mine this weekend.
Can I plug in instruments and mics and I need at least 8 or 6 instruments also want to hook up my camera and put on studio sounding preformances live on ethoer Utube or Instagram. Please let me know it's this or zoom l8
Hi, can you edit out mistakes you might make when pre recording or is that a daft question? I mean, when I record on to an H4N Pro, if I make a mistake, I just pause and say it again, then remove the part I don't want when editing. Can you do that with this device?
Hi! I have a question about the RodeCaster. Is it possible assign 2 different channels (the usb channel and the jack channel) to a broadcasting software? For example: the first channel for listen and broadcast the music and second one for listen the preview of the next song just in my headphones? As I have output 1/2 and 2/4 from an audio card. I hope to have been clear! thank you so much!
I don't know you room so based on the 2 videos I watched: 1. Your gain sounds way too low. Make sure you mics are set between the green rectangles inside the gain property. Recording at -18 db is unnecessary since none of you are screaming into the mic. This will fix most of your noise issues. Compare it to this video which is peaking well around -4. 2. Make sure the personal settings are set properly and honestly. If you voice is high and soft, set it to that. In some videos soft spoken voices sound overcompressed because it's probably set to medium or loud voice. 3. Your room doesn't treated at all. It reverbs heavily. If you are using foam, that might be the entire reason why especially in a larger sized room. You can make acoustic panels yourself with rockwool pretty easy. I suggest you watching this video called "Bobby Owsinski - Improve the Sound of Your Room" which goes into deep detail how to treat your room in both a listening environment and a recording one but for podcasting, you can do anything in that video and your audio will sound a lot better and his tips are very affordable too!
Would this work well if I have a recording studio and I record artist's performances? Have you had an opportunity to connect it to a software like audacity? Curious to know will it record to separate tracks in the software for me to export stems?

I want to start an internet radio station with it
Time to drop $600 on this
I get a lot of background noise even on a quiet room with treatment, any suggestions?
I don't know you room so based on the 2 videos I watched:
Hey thanks for the reply, im definetly looking into all of this
So you’re telling me I can plug my Roland SP-404sx? If so, will the onboard effects work as well?
Would this work well if I have a recording studio and I record artist's performances?
Have you had an opportunity to connect it to a software like audacity? Curious to know will it record to separate tracks in the software for me to export stems?
Would you guys also recommend this while streaming solo or talking to people in ts / discord like regular gaming and streaming on Twitch?
U can use a shock mount
Can I record video using this?
