This is how a connected mine and the audio quality is flawlessly smooth. I simply connected the audio feed from the finished quarter inch audio from the front of the rodecaster and sent it through an attenuator into the camera and I still record at the standard rec. volume and the final output comes out perfect.
Thank you so very much! Extremely helpful for me, as a novice using my FX30's - I do have quite a bit of the proper equipment, and for this as a starting option vs. post edit with sound is fantastic.
Seriously, thanks!!!!! I've been struggling with that noise for so long. Started to suspect that my Rødecaster had a defect. That's a huge discovery for me. You're a life saver man :)
Man I keep coming back to your channel when I am researching audio and video stuff. SUPER underrated, you deserve all the best and much more attention on youtube! Great stuff
I'm a sound engineer in the uk and we call it a quarter inch (or TRS if it has the extra ring on the shaft) and also call the small one 3.5mm. But in the uk we have always used both imperial and metric depending on which makes more sense for the thing you're applying it to. We've never truly had one system here since before the 60's and when you buy a product like a piece of furniture you might receive measurements in inches or cm's/mm's so this doesn't feel weird to us to have these two plugs called by different measurements.
In Japan, we call it 1/4 Inch jack also, "phone plug". We distigquish Phone "Plug" as male and "Jack" as female and to explain why it's called "1/4 jack" is that it's a converter to 3.5mm plug.
Thanks for sharing. I have a Rodecaster Duo which I assume would work the same as yours. Great tip regarding using wireless to the camera and internally recording for redundancy. 👍
I can’t believer the amount of answers you’ve offered up with this video. My good friend you are doing the damn thing. So clear, your message is absolutely easy to process. @@MasterBoxingLLC ruclips.net/video/NVP2D91TZgY/видео.html this video covers all the auto focus settings available for sony camera, some are not on the a6400, I would setup a zone where your head is most of the time, and keep your head in that zone.

Great video. Every output signal I try going out of the Rodecaster into the Sony ZV1 has interference, even when when the audio input is set to 1 in the camera. Even bought all Rode cables and tried various other brands.
I wish there was a simple solution for this, or that there wouldn't be any interference at all. If it means the cost can be kept low for the camera I would say then syncing in post is the way to go for most...just wish it worked how it is supposed to.
Ok, I read somewhere that rather than setting the ZV-1 to ‘1’ set it to ‘3’… it’s counterintuitive but apparently seems to solve the distortion issue that some people have with mics with a high gain that need turning way down
Very helpful! Appreciate you saving us so much time by testing each of these setups. Just got my RodeCaster Pro delivered last night and setting it all up. Will be going with the cleanest setup and just using my one of the headphone jacks (2, 3, or 4) into my camera and syncing audio in post. Sounds like the best audio is going to be directly from the SD card internal to the RodeCaster Pro. Now I’ve gotta check out your other video to see if I need to purchase another MIC 🎤 or if my existing overhead Rode NT mic is going to get the job done for best quality. Thanks again!! 👍👍👍
Hey Javier, if you're only capturing your vocal/voice input from the Rodecaster then Option #3 is somewhat superfluous since you're really only going for a mono signal in the first place. No need to be patching from the L/R main outputs of the Rodecaster...just more cables, likely more noise, and the audio won't be any better (which you concluded 🙂) One thing that did occur to me, however, is that the Rodecaster now becomes a "mix" that can sum everything plugged into the Rodecaster directly to the camera. (Four microphones and your Iphone playing a music bed, for example). I wouldn't want to do all that live because there are too many variables to control, but it certainly would work. (I have the Rodecaster Pro which is how I stumbled on this video) Thanks for this solution!
perfect .. have the mixcast 4 but its the same principal excellent video and in spain and the uk we call the plugs mini jack ...3,5 milli jack .....and standard single jack or 6,3 milli jack plug hope that helps .. your videos are superb thank you so much ...-.. mark

Hi there, remember the headphone outputs on Rode Casterpro has noise but it won't be on recording on RCP. YOu have to take a cable from left and right channels to a 3.5mm jack and connect it to your camera. never use any of the 5 headphone jacks as professional output those are only for monitoring porpuses. thanks
Great video, but I am now confused. The solution with the Zoom H6 does sound good as well. That makes it hard to decide. The rodecaster creates the typical podcast sound, but I was wondering, if there is a point when people are fed up and prefer a more natural sound. The H6 has also the line in in addition to the xlr. But, on the other hand, it has less functionalities. Anyone an opinion on this?

My bluetooth speaker is the mini jbl and another bluetooth speaker.. would be nice to signal sounds to different areas of the house party.. thx
but be very careful if your rodecaster is connected to a macbook with USB, a nightmare about noises and interferences too. the guys at rodecaster also advise to use the output in the back using the separate double quarter inch (6.3mm, yes we call it so in Europe and Asia) to jack->camera, apparently it provides a better signal 😉
Problem... when connecting the cable from the Rodecaster into the camera, have loud noise on the line. All grounds are connected - cables alone don't produce the hum, once the other end of the cable is connected to any device, the hum is heard. Going into Canon R6. It's like there is a ground loop - anytime the ground is connected the hum is there.
