RIP...... William Reed Mullin (February 12, 1966 - January 27, 2020) was an American musician. He is best known as the co-founder and drummer of heavy metal band Corrosion of Conformity.
When they were looking for Reed's filler before Jon became a permanent member he asked what they wanted the drums to sound like. Pepper told him that they wanted the drums to sound like Reed.
Such Great live band. Seen them open for Pantera New Year’s Eve 95 and Metallica in 96 .. as well as several times within the last free years. Never disappoint
@@drumstudiomonchengladbach8131, I can tell when someone doesn't like heavy music, or bothers to look into the history of a band. COC is one of only a few bands that pioneered the HARDCORE genre of punk rock and heavy metal. Formed in the early 80's, the 40 year old band had a hardcore break out album called Anomosity in 1985, and has toured the world non stop since that time. They opened for Metallica for nearly 18months, on the strength of there Grammy Nominated Album WiseBlood (1996). If you care to listen to their catalog, you'll find that they aren't a Black Sabbath clone as you've stated, the album America's Volume Dealer comes to mind, and songs like Stare to Long come to mind as fairly radical departures from Black Sabbath. COC is much heavier than Black Sabbath by any stretch of the imagination, and they're much more diverse than the Ozzy/ Bill Ward era of Black Sabbath. Personally, I believe the best offerings from Sabbath are with Ronny James Dio as singer (Heaven and Hell/ Mob Rules). Certainly the lyrical content of COC is far removed from Black Sabbath's witches and warlocks, swords and sorcery, mystical themes, etc. So, I think your criticism is not well founded, and bands like Kyuss, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Green Lung, and Orchid are much more Black Sabbath influenced that COC has ever been. But as true heavy metal originators, you will, find a bit of Sabbath in all heavy metal, and nobody complains about that.
@@shovington67 I agree with your comment on Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio, but in my opnion EVERY singer BS had after Ozzy was better. Regarding Bill Ward, he is a great drummer too!
Had the honor of meeting Pepper Keenan several years ago when COC played the Motorboat cruise that sailed out of Miami. We are both from the NOLA area so we were on the same Southwest flight to Miami. I had several encounters with him on the ship. Just an all around, down to earth cool cat.
