I can just imagine Richter's reaction: Richter: "Look at this, I've found...Castlevania: Symphony of the Night?...Critically acclaimed video game of 1997? What is this? What is a video game? Why are there pictures of myself and Maria on the back? Why does it say I have mysteriously disappeared? Who is Alucard? COUNT DRACULA HAS BEEN RESURRECTED? I'm so confused...foul oracle of lies and deception!"
i remember doing all this work to get sotn and rondo of blood and never playing dracula x again after that... the unlockables are so much better than the new game
@@valentds I have to honestly agree some of the gameplay could’ve been tweaked goddamn I struggled tryna get sotn 😭 then I got it beat and and years later I’m back to struggle again 🤣
lol no. Dracula X Chronicles is the best classic-style castlevania has to offer. It's a better Rondo of Blood. I mean, I don't know about it being better than SotN, but it really doesn't deserve this disrespect.
This took me a minute to figure out because I remember doing it this way a long time ago, but I played again recently and went a different path early on. Never had the chase with the giant bull thing. I was in an alternate stage with stone and bone bridges that lead to the same two bosses. Top route led to the regular boss and the bottom route was under the bridge and fighting a sword knight and then a sewer ish place that led to the bone boss. After that everything was normal.
richter and pretty much all belmonts up to this point feel as if they were containers full of bricks. thats why dealing with peeping eyes is so difficult and stressful
A good way to beat him that I know of is to use Maria. She has a relatively large hitbox (larger than Richter's), can move faster than him, spam her birds, and can attack while moving. Her dragon works well in the boss's second form, build up some hearts and use the item crash. The first and third forms aren't that hard. For the third, just stick to the entrance, he can't hit you there if you're in the cranny, and you can spam birds at him for a good 4-6 hits.
I tried as hard as I can to sympathise with the oldschool style of Castlevania again, but after you play metroidvania... There is no turning back man. Dracula X is fucking awesome, not gonna lie, but Symphony is levels above this. The only reason I emulated this game was to play Symphony in it's "complete" state. Still, I respect the old scholl style, it's just not for me anymore.
so you can't stand its dificultty beacuse of the controls or what? beacuse that would be like resident evil 6 is better then 1 2 or 3 beacuse it has smoother control (and that would be a lie its horrible in comparasion at least in my oppinion)
Laff Soap i agree but castlevania controls are REALLY subjective, some people dispise 4 for the advanced whip control seeing as it almost eliminates item usefullness but i believe it was made in the idea of sub weapons assisting your whip combat not being such a defining part of it meaning its not necesary but still helps
Thanks for this Video, it's a great help! Symphony of the Night is one of my old Favorites, no matter what, I will unlock it! I've beated Ninja Gaiden on X-Box years ago, I doubt this could be harder... :P
Or you could just go to Stage 3'(if you unlocked it) through stage select rather than going through stage 2... There's a shortcut way to stage 3' on stage 2'... Find the Ferryman below the bridge(before you go to the middle of the level). Ride his boat, survive the Mermen Jumping out of the water, then You've reached Stage 3' without fighting Bone Golem...
It's actually coming to the DS. The developer said it in an interview but he didn't want to make much of it just yet, he want's to give this version a chance.
What a frustrating endeavour this was. It was worth it. Still, I am willing to play the rest of this remake and unlock Rondo of Blood. Only recently did I get this off PSN to put on my PSP. (Hard copies are really expensive).
@OmegaXIII Yeah, his stuff isn't as crazy as in SOTN because this is a remake of an older game. :P And yeah, I haven't tried the PSN SOTN, but I assume it's just a port of the PSX version, so the voice acting would be a bit different.
@KellysterOverdrive well, Symphony of the Night is the direct sequel to Rondo of Blood, this game is a remake of Rondo of Blood so richter is older and most likely more skilled in SotN because of the timeline
Man I'm kinda bummed they replaced the opening dialogue in this port of SotN, the PSP can run SotN (the PS1 version) natively anyway so it's kinda weird they added this, still it's a nice addition
The _purist_ in me agrees with you 100% - But the _realist_ in me believes that (even though it takes some getting used to) the new dub is definitely better than the original cheesecake voicework: "What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets?" 😂 LOL While it doesn't change the fact that the game beneath the cheese is an absolute masterpiece, the old dub was tragic comedy at best.
Ah, what I was doing was recording the remotejoy video with VirtualDub. I recorded it uncompressed, so the quality was best, but that also makes the file size stupid big. Then compressed using xvid codec and added black borders again with virtualdub. Took to Camtasia and saved as a .wmv with custom settings, I can't check them though since my computer that I did it on died.
I may get this game in the near future as a Castlevania fan but from what I'm seeing, I'm disappointed that Richter moves in such an old-school wooden way and has none of his SOTN moveset.
It's really not that hidden. If you play through the whole game and take the time to explore a bit, you'll find it. If you're just getting the game for SotN tho, you'll probably want the guide.
Thanks for the vid Onrar, I definitely think the Dracula X is easier playing as Maria. She moves faster and she's more agile than Richter, the only down-side I think is that Richter was awesome to play as in SOTN but they toned him down way too much I think for Dracula X. It was sort of a let down contrasting what Richter can do between the 2 games. Peace!!!
okey, I'm a big fan of sotn on playstation 1, but is that the game you unlock on psp? the game you just showed us was dracula X Chronicles was it not??
Certainly. I was just showing how to get to level 3' from level 2. Use an axe too, much easier to drop that thing at the end. I just forgot while I was doing the video.
I bought this thinking the original TurboGrafx 16/ Turbo Duo version of Dracula X was on here along with Symphony of the Night to simply pick from a menu, a bit disappointing to first of all get this different version of Dracula X which isn't to bad, but simply isn't as nice to look at and play as the original, and Symphony of the night needing unlocking?..strange...guess the only explanation for this is Konami simply wanted to force ppl to experience Dracula X's new facelift before ppl simply ignore it and dive into Symphony of the night full time, glad I bought it on the cheap anyway just 10 bux.
Holy crap, could you not have possibly seen the comments that you passed as you were scrolling to the post a comment section? 0_o Remotejoy to display the PSP screen on the computer, then Camtasia for the rest.
Soma is nice... just that in the later stages where u get that thing that gives u unlimited mana... + Mandragora soul ... u can scream the shit out of everyone in CV.... lol....
well, what i use is the pandora batteray. i think most people using it to unlock psp. i got the battery from pandorakit com. The process is very easy, because when i brought it, i got a free memory stick with the fireware on it. i don;t know if they still have the sale. and i download games by using emule or bt.
Symphony is my favorite, just because I enjoyed the story to it. Alucard was amazing...I played for so long...x.x; But I am getting so mad at Rondo because I can't get past Death. The evil bastard just won't die!

Anyone who has trouble trying to get this should unlock Maria. She makes getting to the boss and fighting the boss so much easier.
Can she reach the game itself or can only Richter get there?

I also think the SOTN in Dracula X is different than the version downloaded from PSN. The voice acting is somewhat different, I like it a lot. : )
This was helpful, thanks! First I played just to unlock SotN but started to enjoy it after a while.
I just did this and this video couldn't be more helpful.
thanks buddy! :) I'm following your guide step by step right now ^^

Here's a hint then, if you want an easier time to unlock Symphony, unlock maria first, she makes the game far easier than using Richter.

I wish they didn't make me play the regular game to unlock SotN.
