Hello everyone. I forgot to mention that hybrid picking is useful because we can switch between just a pick to play some parts, parts that we think require a pick, and then hybrid picking to play certain parts. Finger picking is easier (in most cases) than hybrid picking, but hybrid picking allows us to access both styles of playing to some extent. I use the technique all the time, and you can hear how I use it on my bands' recordings : mountainssk.bandcamp.com/
Thanks, Liam. I do try to put a bit of research and planning into all the videos I make, but I always end up missing somethings out that I wanted to put in, not a problem though. I also like to hear other peoples thoughts and input etc after I post each video.
The dude from the band eternity forever uses hybrid picking almost exclusively, it's not the most mathy but but he has an awesome style that fits really well with the band. Check them out if you haven't yet
Nice examples, man! I'm still getting used to the pinky thing too haha And btw, the ending lick in Book by CHON is also a great hybrid picking exercise!
You should review the song Peggy by Orchards! Great guitar part and I believe that the guy who plays guitar for them uses hybrid picking Thanks for all the tips too!
enjoyed the video but that string buzz at 3:35 reminded me I don't feel like playing my guitar. Temperatures dropped where I live and it's all out of whack I can't get it to feel like before... off to my guitar tech it is, I really wanna play some tunes :(
Let's Talk About Math Rock there's a video from stewmac on how to fix a nut with baking soda and super glue. it might not be what you need, but if it is then it's a cheap fix
hey one small advice for recording your voice - record it mono. also, like, i dont know many hybrid pickers in mathrock, but - i personally learned it from playing songs by Yes (Steve Howe)
Thanks for the tip. I feel real dumb because I was trying to balance the stereo field after recording, haha. Recording in mono will clear that right up!
Hi, do you actually do lessons for people? I've been stuck playing tabs and sheet music and it's been hindering me with writing. If you don't teach lessons, do you know whom I can go to online? Thanks!
Hey, Alex. I'm not teaching lessons at the moment but I am planning to in the future. I will have some live stream Q&As coming up soon, so if you drop in there you can ask a few questions. As for other people, I don't really know of any online tutors but I did see that the guy who runs this channel: ruclips.net/channel/UCnKvPbjUogHvNR6MHBkZAnA was asking if people would like some lessons on Instagram. Hope that helps, and thanks for the question.

Once I learned how to hybrid pick I started to use it more often than I ever expected. Great job showing it!
Thanks, Ryan. I find myself using it all the time.
Ryan Perrin is that an eclipse? Niiice
Will Smith LTD ec-1000, not ESP. Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of money haha
Awesome vid. Love that you take the time to dive into the topics instead of breezing over them. Super informative.

Nice, thanks for the tip, I think I played that using just a pick when I learnt it, haha.
thanks again
I think I remember Hella using Hybrid Picking at some point. I might be wrong though.

Yeah, I stupidly filed the nut too low on the low E when I first bought the guitar so now I can never get it right. Should get that fixed soon! ha

Thanks for the tip. I should take into a shop to get it done really. In the past I've put a bit of tissue paper underneath to lift the sting up a bit.
I think intervals uses it

can you make a how to play like Ichika?
first you must have the demi-god gene running in you.. if not then dont proceed any further.. ichika is crazy with his multi finger tapping skill..
stfu
woah we got a badass over here.. XD
XD XD XD
do you even tap for the meme fam
.......
What about the nails on your right hand? Are they long?
Do longer nails make finger picking easier or would I have to grow out my nails to learn finger picking?
Love your videos but please start making the tabs on screen larger for us phone users :)
haha, thanks for letting me know, I'll try to make them bigger in future videos!
