That's OK, Mahomes turns into a cyborg and teleports to the endzone. I think if Mahomes actually teleported, or took off and achieved flight, those would be the only ways he could still surprise me at this point.

It's a spiritual situation to me. He has a gift and it would be wrong to not display it. He's humble & not a show-off. Reid & Mahomes remind me of Walsh & Montana. I was a huge fan of Montana. Like the Chiefs they got somewhat boring at times because they were so good. How many plays and throws can you recall of other teams & quarterbacks? I remember some from the 49ers & Montana & many of the Chiefs & Mahomes. I remember how Montana just had the ability to step up in the pocket and make throws, avoiding hits while completing the pass. One can't say this about any other quarterback & team who do this on a CONSTANT basis. Montana & 49ers did it between '81-'89. (They could have gone to SB in '92 if they would have pulled Young & replaced with Montana against Cowboys in NFC title game) Mind you this is only my opinion but I've followed the NFL since '69. (Lived in KC. I was 8 yrs old) The Chiefs will be a force for a long time.

But let's not overlook the overall team build of the Chiefs. KC's 2022 roster was the best I've ever seen, and the needle is pointing up. Mahomes's deal set records, yet already he's about #5 in compensation and dropping lower, every year. So they're in good position under the cap for the foreseeable future. With 10 picks, they can make some up-side picks and sort out the ones who complement what they have, now. They don't need big stats from anybody if they have enough speed in depth and enough physicality to use the whole field.

I'm a long time Brady hater and a long time Chiefs fan. I just don't see anybody surpassing 7 SB wins. It's too hard to stay at the top when you draft at the back. It's too hard to get to a SB, let alone win one. Injuries have as much to do with success as the QB play does. Even Brady had a 10 year stretch without a SB win. Mahomes was 1 offside penalty away from his first SB appearance. He played without a single starting offensive lineman in the loss to TB. The Bengals beat us last year because we couldn't tackle Joe Burrow. That's how slim the margin for error is just to get to the SB, and then to win it. I don't know how many SB Mahomes will get to, or win, but I don't see 10 and 7, no matter how great he plays.

    • @luke-i1w

I can understand this sentiment and it is hard to argue against. I'm simply happy the conversation of "Mahomes MIGHT be able to challenge Brady's accomplishments" is happening. That alone shows how special of a player Mahomes is. Whether or not Mahomes gets there, at this point, is a matter of luck, because the talent and team support are absolutely there to make it happen. As good as Brady was, no one wins 7 Super Bowls without being at least a little lucky and getting a lot of help from your team and coaches. If Mahomes can put himself in positions to benefit from some lucky breaks, I think he could get there. I'm not counting on it, but it absolutely could happen.
