- Patch 4.2.0 is about to hit and I have been granted 24 hours early access to the build so here we go with a brand new, unscheduled, Kislev campaign as Tzarina Katarin. Will we see any new units and will they be good? Yes, and surprisingly yes in part 1 of a brand new Immortal Empires Campaign as Tzarina Katarin and the The Ice Court in Total War: Warhammer 3 Shadows of Change!

I'm sure some people were sad that a tier 1 unit was taking a new unit 'slot' on the update but imo having an early game meat shield is more useful than a new super monster that you use put one in your army 50 turns in

I’m still fairly new and shit at this game, so having to fill a starting army with like 4 good units and then just a fuck ton of hybrid spear-bow units wasn’t fun,
Add the fact that since most of those good units ARE frontline units and I’m really bad at the game I’d end up turn 5 with those tier 2/3s mostly dead and now an army almost entirely made up of spears 😂😢💀

Compared to Peasant Long spear (Cathay) Spearmen (Empire, High Elves et al) Peasant Mob (sorry, had to include them) these Kislevite Warriors do seem to be an upgrade.
Not sure if I want a “inside of your fridge” battle smell. 😂

I know you often play ahead so this might take awhile to get to you, but remember the devotion abilities! That's how you gain supporters to stay ahead of Rasputin. And the cost scales with the number of settlements you have, so get them going while their a bit cheaper! I recommend the Ursun one because of the 5 supporters per settlement captured or the Tor one for a supporter each battle.
There's a mod called kislev University that makes the ice witch mechanic more interesting and powerful. Would highly recommend in the future

I like playing the Ice Court and the Empire because they dont have some silly game mechanic that you need to keep on top of every turn they dont need some flashy gimmick IMOP its just nice to play a normal faction every now and again.

Damn impressive performance from the Warriors. (Thinking of doing a Boris campaign when the patch hits)
If they rework Kislev:
- Boris needs something to replace his motherland thing. Maybe something about the Ursun specifically. His wrath against chaos for corrupting his savior and nearly killing him probably, makes sense with Boris's start too.
- Replace Ice Court for Boris with training Boyars and a Boyar like hero (like an Empire Captain)
- Replace Ice Court for Kostaltyn with training of a new Priest lord (similar to the empire) and Patriarchs
- Replace Ice Court for Mother Ostankya with one that trains Hag Witches and Druzhinas. (And in the event of a new lord similar to Markus Wolfheart, make Hag Witch lord and a Druzhina like hero and have the witches go to Ostankya and the Druzhinas go to the new lord)
That way Kislev can become a faction where each legendary lord can specialize into different sets of heroes and lords and subsequently base a unit roster around them and any unique attributes they give. Add on the Religious Devotion and Bulwark against Chaos thing Kislev has and you have a faction that can seriously rival the empire in potential replayability. Especially if some small overlap exists between the Kislevite LLs and they can get the abilities of others through a more expansive faith based confederation system, like the dwarves and their grudges rework.
So excited for this new content from CA and this new series too!
I'm still sad about the Snow Leopard. Like the Dread Saurian it's such a cool unit yet they didn't give them the characteristic either of them needed to be as effective as they should be.

That was a well fought battle indeed.
Another huge difference between the Kislevite halberds and kossars, is kossars have absolutely crap health and have half the armour. The kislevites have 2000 more health and 15 more armour.

Druzhina build supports ranged units. U should try an army with good numbers of akshina/ice guard led by said lord.
Is the snow leopard decent at hunting calvary? It has anti large and is pretty quick. I imagine antilarge calvary would crush it though.

British Monarchs are probably Water Type? So blocks of ice wouldn't be that far off.
FYI no upkeep or economy buffs for Kislev. Nice update but I still can't afford to upgrade my province buildings. Or afford a second army......please send help

I really dig the Kislevite Warriors. Sturdy, cheap, anti large early game unit which really helps dealing with Kislev's shit economy, annoying campaign and putrid devotion mechanic.

Gets deleted 😂.I like what they did with the snow leopard in SFO they give them maim attack that deals bleed dmg to 5 entities and it has regen when u are in combat , yea u still cant send them to duel 1v1 anything but at least they do some dmg and are more tanky. And yea melee hero is what Kislev needed the most
