I played Cello in school in the 60's. We converted and played our Elec Cellos w/ Led Zep, JIMI, etc just playing around. These guys blow me away! As I watch them play it's like I'm in Nirvana playing every note with them.

Being unable to afford music programs is a myth. An incredible fraction of school budgets goes to administration, which is mostly unneeded. If you truly cared about music, you would be more active in your local school board and bring things under control. Or at least. Start asking question.
