  • Here I compare the Derya Melik extractor and spring against the Beretta M9 / 92FS extractor and spring. I'm not saying one is better than the other, I will let you be the judge. I am just sharing the differences and findings. I hope this information is useful to you. As usual thank you for watching.

    Thanks for the input. The one I have is around the same round count as yours, so I'll be checking the extractor to see if mine is doing the same thing.

      @@dankinsler1930 Your welcome. I only noticed it because I disassembled the whole slide and inspected every part. That wear is gonna be tough to see when it's still on the pistol. I'd just keep a spare on hand just in case. It could go a long time before it fails who knows. But if you need to rely on it, Yeah I'd tear it down and inspect it. I just could've got one that was a little on the soft side, I have luck like that lol! These things do happen even in top end firearms, After all it's just a machine and all machines eventually break sooner or later. Thanks for watching and commenting It's appreciated.

      @@Sandhill1988 Is the Beretta extractor a straight drop in to the Derya?

    For me this is the interesting part of firearms. Most of my time spent in the hobby is in the workshop disassembling and reassembling firearms as well as reloading. Unfortunately I have no machining skills. I'd like to start out with a mini mill and doing 80% lowers. Is a mini mill sufficient for this? How about for machining small parts such as the extractor? I'd also like to make a firiing pin for the 22lr Beretta because they are no longer being sold. Your thoughts on mini Mills for gunsmithing tasks?

      @@williamleiby3150 I too have been entertaining investing in more machinery to do such things. I
      also agree with you and I'm very much like-minded.I enjoy the engineering and mechanical part of it. I've heard some people on big channels say they don't want to know how to fix it.They just want To drive it they are the driver. I whole heartedly disagree with that view Because if you don't understand your machine almost become one with the machine, how can you become truly proficient with it. You don't even Know how to service it yourself, You're not always gonna have a supply chain to lean on. It's all part of it. As far as my opinion on do I think a mini milling machine can handle small part production, I'll say yes , as long as it's of good quality. I have no idea what machines to recommend but I know that if you're going to make precision parts you're going to need A decent quality machine to do it on. And of course you're going to need good stock to start from. Thank you for washing and coming.It's appreciated.

      I'll add one more thing. If you have.
      A decent drill press you can use that as a make shift Mill to do a lot of small projects such as 80% products. Me personally I've never really seen the logic in it, I can get a brand new lower for forty or fifty dollars. Now if you had looked at some of my older videos I did have to mill out a S&W SW40 slide so it would fit and function on a Glock type gen 3 lower. For this task I use my harbor freight drill press a cross vice and an endmill. But again.
      If you're gonna want want to make small parts such as firing pins you're going to need a lathe. Thank you again.

      @@ryanisbored8273 yea someone Mentioned it earlier and I looked into it , but it's a thirty round mag as far as I know. If it was a standard capacity I'd be interested. But thanks.

    Hey james, im having some weirdness with my melik regarding the safety (doesn't want to fully engage unless the slide is pulled back a hair, mostly fine w/ no mag inserted)
    And the act mag that came with it seems to push the slide upward and causes further weirdness with the safety

    • @Sandhill1988
      @Sandhill1988  18 дней назад

      @@validnirvana97 I concur that is weirdness, first i've heard of that one. First off when you insert your magazine the only thing that the magazine will actually interact with is the slide lock lever. So i'm gonna rule that out. Unless you have an Odd ball situation. If you have another magazine try that first. Then what I would do is take the slide off of the frame. Turn the slide upside down and try to work the safety lever, see if it moves freely apart from the frame. If it moves freely I would start looking at the trigger bar, It's possible it's out of alignment causing it to jam up. Look to the rear of the slide on the right side just above the grip there is a portion of the trigger bar that pokes up a bit and interacts with the decocker / safety detent that is located under the right ambi safety and protrudes through the bottom of the slide when the lever is pushed down into the safe or decock position. It is part of the function of the safety. That detent could be sticky ( This would cause the problem you describe) or sometimes the tension spring on the trigger bar gets out of whack pushing the bar out of alignment and it can cause issues like that also. It only has to kick out a little and it can be intermitting. Check those few things and then chime back and let us know how it worked out. Thanks for watching and thanks to your question it's appreciated.Hope it helps.

      Thank you, very appreciated, I forgot to mention that mag issue is w/ the Mag (17 rd with 16 loaded) mag empty is the same as no mag.
      Will check back in once I check the issues you mentioned.
      Once again very,very appreciated
