      @@gunart Yes yes my apprentice, lol! In all seriousness I believe the frames and the slides seem to be on par as far as Initial quality. Now. The small components is a little bit of a different story. IMO the Girsan has the edge by a bit. I have noticed some machining marks on some of the small components of the Derya, the Girsan is free of any And the metal quality might be slightly better, slightly (small components). I'm also starting to think this is where Derya was able cut production costs. So If you're looking for Authenticity it's Derya If you're looking for a slightly better quality in the small components it's Girsan. But this really isn't a huge difference because original parts are common inexpensive and readily available. The other thing to take in the consideration is one of the biggest the Derya thus far has been in my experience 100% compatible with original Beretta 92 parts. This is a big factor to consider. Does a tighter fitting locking block result in better accuracy?

    • @Sandhill1988
      @Sandhill1988 14 дней назад

      @@randomposter8964 It can, but it all depends on the tolerances are that are critical to acuracy. My concern was more so the way the locking block fit in the barrel. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't to my liking.It was a little loose and you could rattle it and the block would fall out on its own. This actually is not uncommon.It's just not what I prefer. This particular situation wouldn't necessarily affect accuracy Unless it was extreme in this was not. More critical to accuracy would be the locking tabs that actually lock into the slide and ride in the slide rails. Once the breech is closed and the locking tabs of the block are seated fully into the locking block cut outs on the slide, that would be the most critical To stabilize the barrel and breach during the firing process. Abnormalities in wear and/or machining in those areas can affect accuracy as well as small cracks that can be undetectable at times.

    • @Sandhill1988
      @Sandhill1988 14 дней назад

      I actually have seen small cracks on either blocking block tabs or even the frame pulling the shot one way or the other because there was flex. Of course eventually leads to a catastrophic failure. But if your shots are pulling one way or the other And there's no other explanation a Detailed inspection of the slide and locking blocks are in order. I believe Beretta's PM Full replacement of the locking block is twenty thousand rounds. Recoil springs should be replaced every 3 to 4 thousand rounds This will help prevent unnecessary battering of the breach face and locking block. The ninety two platform is an excellent weapon but like anything else it requires maintenance or will eventually fail.

I whole heartedly disagree with that view Because if you don't understand your machine almost become one with the machine, how can you become truly proficient with it. You don't even Know how to service it yourself, You're not always gonna have a supply chain to lean on. It's all part of it. As far as my opinion on do I think a mini milling machine can handle small part production, I'll say yes , as long as it's of good quality. I have no idea what machines to recommend but I know that if you're going to make precision parts you're going to need A decent quality machine to do it on. Me personally I've never really seen the logic in it, I can get a brand new lower for forty or fifty dollars. Now if you had looked at some of my older videos I did have to mill out a S&W SW40 slide so it would fit and function on a Glock type gen 3 lower. For this task I use my harbor freight drill press a cross vice and an endmill. But again. If you're gonna want want to make small parts such as firing pins you're going to need a lathe. Hey james, im having some weirdness with my melik regarding the safety (doesn't want to fully engage unless the slide is pulled back a hair, mostly fine w/ no mag inserted) And the act mag that came with it seems to push the slide upward and causes further weirdness with the safety

    • @Sandhill1988
      @Sandhill1988 18 дней назад

      @@validnirvana97 I concur that is weirdness, first i've heard of that one. First off when you insert your magazine the only thing that the magazine will actually interact with is the slide lock lever. So i'm gonna rule that out. Unless you have an Odd ball situation. If you have another magazine try that first. Then what I would do is take the slide off of the frame. Turn the slide upside down and try to work the safety lever, see if it moves freely apart from the frame. If it moves freely I would start looking at the trigger bar, It's possible it's out of alignment causing it to jam up. Look to the rear of the slide on the right side just above the grip there is a portion of the trigger bar that pokes up a bit and interacts with the decocker / safety detent that is located under the right ambi safety and protrudes through the bottom of the slide when the lever is pushed down into the safe or decock position. It is part of the function of the safety. That detent could be sticky ( This would cause the problem you describe) or sometimes the tension spring on the trigger bar gets out of whack pushing the bar out of alignment and it can cause issues like that also. It only has to kick out a little and it can be intermitting. Check those few things and then chime back and let us know how it worked out. Thanks for watching and thanks to your question it's appreciated.Hope it helps.

    It would be cool to see if everything is compatible. People who upgrade berettas replace lots of parts. I did Ltt np3 kit. That kit with tax and shipping is 500 but replaces everything besides the frame barrel and slide with a trigger job and everything coated in NP3. It made a huge difference. If this is compatible then it’s a great option because i have seen these for under $300 and all in for an LTT would be the price of a stock beretta. Hopefully you continue to compare compatibility.

      @@R1B2AB Actually I am continuing to compare compatibility. I just ordered (a few days ago) A couple of Beretta gen 3 locking block kits. They consist of the gen 3 locking block (of course) the new gen 3 Compatible plunger and roll pin. From my initial investigations it seems it should drop right in. I can tell you this much The Girsan regard blocks are not Compatible. They are higher in the rear lug Just behind the recoil spring and prevent the slide from cycling. The factory Derya Melik locking blocks are fine, but..... (There's always a butt right ;-).) The tolerances seem a little loose to me, They will almost fall out when you have the barrel removed and tip it side to side. I've had. Absolutely.No cycling of functioning issues with them. But if I can get some OE Beretta ones that have a tighter fit I will just put these back as emergency spares. These two pistols are not going to be hot rodded by any means I'm keeping them and or bringing them up to (or as close to "mil spec / standard as possible.
