Nice build but one question, why only 11.5:1 for the compression? Too much for cheap 87 pump but not high enough to take advantage of either race gas or E-85. At least 12.5:1 or more. E-85 is cheaper, runs cooler, and more consistent too. I'd say 13.5:1 would have been perfect!

Didn't watch the entire video, but had to commend you on one thing that only the better engine shops do.
Good job on measuring clearance. Yes, it is a Race Engine and it should be Blueprinted. However, many Mom & Pop shops don't see the importance of using a Dial Bore Gage even on a Race Engine!! Absolute mind boggling. They are content on using Plastigage. If I see that method performed by a so called "reputable shop" on a performance or Race Engine, I turn around and never return.

Wrong hydraulic roller lifters. 10:15 That's why the engine was running crappy. The tie bars are bottoming out on the lifter valleys 🤦🏽‍♂️. They need .300 tall lifters. It wasn't the carburetor...🙂. Nice try guy's..

You never know which way the thrust bearing is off, so i always put a small flat metal plate up against both ends of the crank one at a time and thump the plate to drive the crank forward, then backward, that way i know the thrust bearing is centered, Hope this helps.

@@danmyers9372If down an intake port then it should exit out the exhaust. If it makes it past the rings it should end up in the sump but if that much is making it past the rings (hopefully they just hadn't seated yet) then ring gap, piston to cylinder wall clearance or something along those lines isn't right.

Same, they aren’t proven. With euro engines; belts are a 70k wear item on a STOCK DRIVER. Chains are good for 100k on a modified screamer. Swapping a chain setup for a belt is just plain stupid.
