Yes! All of this yes!! I would also add that the priesthood leadership in the church is designed to provide the structure supporting convenants and ordinances. Men are assigned to shoulder most of the administrative work in support of the salvation of souls, which is the primary work of the family. Women are assigned primarily to the nurturing or inward work of salvation.
I like her use of the terms priestesshood and priesthood. We are moving closer to the doctrines of the restoration more frequently now. Casting off the cultural shackles that crept into our world view with the influx of various European and British protestants who recognized the truthfulness of the restored gospel but clung onto their familiar apostate traditions. Glad to see these miracles happening.
Great Video Jasmin! I am glad the clarification of Priesthood power/Authority is being told more. We have too much focus on the Administrative aspect of priesthood offices and not enough understanding that Priesthood for all is the greater aspect. Just Like Jared Halverson's verticle and horizontal concept of the gospel, there is a verticle aspect to priesthood ( which is the more administrative aspect of callings and authority) but there is also a horizontal aspect to priesthood (which is more of the Patriarchal priesthood which women play a huge role in as mothers) which include families more. My research is showing that women play a much larger role in church teachings than they have been told. As we gain more insight and revelation towards a more complete understanding of the "fulness" of the gospel we find women being more important and more involved in all aspects of the gospel. Men and women are equal as God's children as well as different in playing roles to accomplish the work of God. Once the roles of Men and Women are seen as equally important I believe we will have much more revelation given to us.
Reading the comments first, I was a little worried before watching. Even before we received further light and knowledge about Priesthood and women, I thought that equating 'Priesthood' with 'Motherhood' was misleading. At least in mortality, all worthy males could receive the Priesthood, but Motherhood might not come to a worthy women. I twitched at that comparison and am grateful it's not often heard these days.
As a guy in the LDS church, I have thought Valerie Hudson and this woman to explain “Priestesshood” to be doctrinally sound and revolutionary! It answers the question: “Why can’t women hold the priesthood?” Because the priesthood is for priests, and men are washed as priests. Women are washed as priestesses, so thus they have the priestesshood. And if the priesthood is to Protect, Provide, and Preside, what are the duties of the priestesshood? PROCREATION & PEACEMAKING (Nourish and Nurture). And in the eternal sense how is this understood? The initiatory provides the 3 primary distinctions between Gods vs Goddesses: 1. Ecclesiastical Leadership- Washed as Priest or Priestess 2. Political Leadership- Anointed as Kings or Queens 3. Patriarchal Leadership- Named as Fathers or Mothers Priest + King + Father = God Priestess + Queen + Mother = Goddess!!!!! What is the role of a God? Hence why TempleLight will explain “Auxiliary” and “Temple” authority for women, because they practice the “priesthood” in the initiatory. Which makes sense because the female counterpart of the initiatory is the only other ordinance in the gospel that is centered on the distinction of gender. It doesn’t make sense for priests to wash women as priestesses. Just like a mortal woman can’t be baptized for a postmortal man, a priest can initiate a priestesses. This understanding changed my life, and it brings so much clarity! I love women and they are better than men in every sense of the word. Which is why in D&C 132 & Journal of The Discourses, there will be a natural shortage of worthy men qualified for exaltation and a natural surplus of worthy women qualified for exaltation. Which is why women will have the choice to continue the eternal family or remain as an angel. I know super controversial, go ahead crucify me. Which is why establishing Zion is so important! We need the relief society to provide relief to the society of men known as ELDERS QUORUM! Because men are lonely & scrutinized, which is why they need support. I actually appreciate your description of priesthood and the breakdown between men and women. I don't have any major disagreements but I do think a few of your statements are speculative. We just have no idea how the numbers will play out on judgement day. I can't say that there will be more righteous women than men. I can see how you came up with that idea though. If a person attends a YSA dance and sees how many more women show up compared to men, one could speculate who is more righteous. But, it's just guessing to say that more women will make it than men. But overall I enjoyed your explanation.

In the RS broadcast this weekend there was a major emphasis on women having the priesthood, or specifically, covenant keeping women have just as much priesthood power and authority as covenant keeping men. This really got me thinking, what does it mean then to be ordained and set apart to an office in the priesthood? How should I be viewing my priesthood office? What is even the point to ordaining men if all you have to do is keep covenants to have priesthood power and authority? (To be clear, Church leaders usually refer to women having priesthood “power” and “authority” but rarely/never will say that women “hold” or “bear” the priesthood)
Many of the brethren in the church never come to a full understanding of the priesthood they are ordained to. Priesthood is all about service to God, family, and mankind. Priesthood is about learning how to act on behalf of Jesus Christ. If a man will fully embrace this concept of selfless service that man can become sanctified and made pure and holy. This process takes time, but it can prepare the man to then lead his family and others back to the presence of God. Sadly, many men in the church will be content to just show up for sacrament meeting on Sunday and then just go about his life during the week until the next Sunday. A missed opportunity for sure.

I'm so confused right now... i'm not a member but i have been given conflicting stories. One member says that polygamy is no longer around, while another member says that president nielson is married to two women spiritually and will have both in heaven. What is true?
Polygamy is not our doctrine. Some members are falsely indoctrinated from out of date ‘Mormon’ culture that polygamy is a thing…. It’s not! They should go join one of the off-chutes who practice polygamy.
His first wife and mother of his nine daughters passed away and he will always love and be sealed to her but he met and married his current wife and she obviously loves him and his daughters too! No polygamy has been allowed in the church since the government took over the land and made them a state! Although because it was and still is a free country, many men and women still illegally practice polygamy and other rituals with multiple partners. This is disgusting and shameful and Utah has one of the biggest problems with young men and pornography partly because they are forbidden to have sex before marriage so, obviously kids do want they are told not to, and they are naive and unaware of the consequences of this behavior and the evil practices it leads them to! No one justifies this but the ones who practice and participate in these sex parties! Unfortunately, these creepy creators who are pedofiles too have grown into massive groups through social networks and are 😅 increasingly becoming unmanageable! It’s a dangerous time for children to be exposed in this country and world! The RS will be the answer for saving the children and mothers who are abandoned in this country! We are charged to gather Israel 🇮🇱 now as we are obviously in the last days bc of the weapons of mass destruction that we also co-created (accepted) for power and for making $ by financing wars! I think that as long as eternal polygamy is doctrine then there cannot be equality between the genders in the church. As a wife how could you ever be equal to someone who has multiple wives?
@@templesofjesus this is demonstrably false. Men sealed to another wife after their first wife dies is sealed for eternity to both wives. President Nelson is an example of this. And even if that weren't the case (which it is), it doesn't matter because past prophets are still sealed to multiple wives. Anyway, Just ask your bishop about it, I promise I'm not making this up.

I don't understand this obsession with women wanting to be ordained. They don't understand priesthood if they think any man or leader can just hand it to them. Only God decides who gets it and not even all men get it. I'm grateful I'm blessed to be able to go to my son, father, brother, husband to bless and protect😇🙏. Instead of shaming our men, maybe have gratitude that they're living worthy to be able to hold the priesthood.
epopel arent sealed but receive a promess of being seal acording to our fidelity just as we dont receive the holy spirit but are invited to receive it , there is work to be done to get these blessing beyond the ceremony itself
God does stuff that works. He set up a way to run things efficiently. A prophet to direct His organization, the priesthood to direct things in all parts of the world and to provide training, is his program. If you don't like that, sorry. God did it. He generally gets stuff right.
the biggest problem my wife sees throughout our modern world and even in the church, (and is in part exemplified by videos like this and the talks it references) is the pervasive jealousy women have for men and men's responsibilities and qualities. women aren't supposed to be men and they're not supposed to be like men and they shouldn't WANT to be like men. any woman who wants what a man "has" just reveals her own self-dislike. even just accepting the silly idea that women are inferior in any way shape or form, or wanting to have what men have is giving power to the lie that they aren't as important as men. it's turning a blind eye to both the incredible power and influence women have in this world and always have had (read 1 Esdras from the apocrypha if you want a few thousand year old example of this), and to the inherent difficulties that come with being a man, especially the difficulties we have to endure to restrain our natural passions and emotions just to function at all in society, let alone, function well in it.
Sometime before Passover (april 22nd) the red heffer(s) will be sacrificed by the kohenim (levites). In fact they have just built the altar! This would be the fulfillment of D&C 13 right? Where it says that the aaronic priesthood will stay until the sons of levi offer up again (in righteousness). So no more aaronic priesthood! And no more baptisms! No more sacrament! This is still 'fuzzy' for me. So you are saying women have priesthood power by virtue of the endowment? Does that mean they only have priesthood power when in the temple? And if women have priesthood power outside of the temple, what do you mean by this? How is this practiced?
President Oaks has implied in past talks that any faithful sister who has been set apart to a church calling gains access to priesthood power to perform that calling. This does not mean ordination to the priesthood. This means when a sister serves in her calling (not just in the temple) she has the authority to do so pertaining to that calling that she has been set apart to.
@@stevehumble8865thanks for your reply, so using Pres. Oaks reasoning anyone who has a calling in the church, man or woman has priesthood power at least for that specific calling. When I was first ordained to the Priesthood office of Deacon it was explained to me that Priesthood is the authority to act in God’s name, so in that sense anyone who has a church calling could be said to have the authority to act in God’s name. This is all ok but I must say being totally honest this all feels a little disingenuous, it seems since the church leadership came under scrutiny why women aren’t ordained to the priesthood then there comes all sorts of clever worded arguments to try to show that women have had the priesthood all along, when in reality my whole life growing up in the church when we talk about the priesthood it was always assumed to be the men who are ordained to priesthood offices. I mean after all when there is a Priesthood session at General Conference it is meant to be for priesthood holders right (boys and men) and not just for anyone (male and female) who holds a calling (anyone who has priesthood power)?

(The Family - A Proclamation to the World) Being a parent is one of the greatest and most sacred blessings bestowed upon us by virtue of being created in the image of God. A true understanding of the Plan of Salvation will lead all of God's children to desire an eternal family. Everyone can choose for themselves, of course. Yes, one of the primary purposes of polygamy is to "raise up seed unto [God]" (Jacob 2:27-30). When there is a shortage of righteous men, polygamy is a framework for providing an eternal family to the single women within the faith.

@@JeremyJohnson-i6i President Nelson's wife passed away and he remarried, so he has had two wives but not in a polygamous way. We do not currently practice polygamy today, and you would very quickly get excommunicated if you tried. This doesn't mean that we're against it in principle. We're aware that it's a weird concept today in western society, but it was a biblical practice. For example, God promised Abraham great blessings through his posterity with several wives. We see nothing inherently wrong with this. In the spirit of the blessings of Abraham, we believe in the doctrine of eternal families, and that we are blessed in the eternities through our matrimonial bonds and through our posterity. I'm sure there's a lot we don't fully understand about the eternities, but, theologically speaking, President Nelson could potentially continue with both marriages in the resurrection, even though he never practiced polygamy in this life (assuming both women were also OK with the situation, of course). Though I'm sure the heavens will end up being quite a bit different than any one of us imagines...
@@JeremyJohnson-i6iour prophet, President Nelson was married and had a family with his wife Dantzel. She passed away when she was in her 70s and after her passing, Pres. Nelson married Wendy Watson. He has been married twice but never to two women at the same time. Polygamy has actually not been part of our church for a very long time and anyone who does practice polygamy are not members of the church - whether they claim to be or not. Good question! President Nelson’s first wife died and he remarried. He was not married to both at the same time. And no we don’t still practice polygamy. That practice was discontinued in 1890. Yes 1890.

Being parents on earth is a reflection of being heavenly parents. Men and women have different duties that we have been called to do by god. She must know that her arguments are intellectually dishonest. She has said nothing to explain why women cannot perform ordinances outside of the temple. She has said nothing to explain why women are subordinate to men in the structure of the church. She describes the power that women receive as tangible but it is intangible. At most it could give women the right to revelation but anybody can receive revelation. If we want to talk about tangible things then we are talking about power to govern. Women do not have that in the church. I can see from the comments that those people who struggle to admit that women are subordinate to men in the church have been satisfied by this casserole of words that sound like they mean something. I will give her one point for pointing out that motherhood is not equivalent to priesthood. I give her a second point for realising that priesthood is a body of men even though the church leaders have recently taught that it is NOT. Surely she must know that she is not on message. The bond of marriage no longer exists after death, that is the truth. Matthew 22:29-30: "Jesus replied, 'You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.'" There is no marriage in heaven, there is no procreation. But Mormons choose to elevate the words of Joseph Smith and his blasphemous and false teachings over the words of Jesus Christ Himself.
Interesting perspective. Of course, remember the people asking that question didnt even believe in the resurrection. They were also asking about a particular part of the Law of Moses that by law or simply custom, the brother of a man who died would be given respoonsibiility over that mans wife and children. In the hypothetical scenario, this supposedly happened 3-4 times. In any case, I always think it is interesting when people ask questions about topics they dont believe in from the start. Based on your comment I assume that since the "bond of marriage" no longer exists in heaven that you wont be with or look at your former husband or wife with that same type of love and respect. They will fall back to being only a fellow believer of God. I bet most Evangelical Christians dont actually expect it to be that way. Your interpretation also highlights a lack of power or an outright lie that Christ told his Apostles. He gave them his "authority" (priesthood) and promised that "what so ever they would bind on earth would be bound in heaven". Wouldnt that apply to marriage? You can believe as you will but I believe family and marriage relationships will continue after we die for rightous individuals. Teaching that is not the case and that these relationships are only temperary seems kind of sad.
Because at that time the Jews did not have the practice of eternal marriage (sealings). Only the high priest was allowed into the holy of holies in the temple, on behalf of all Israel who weren't allowed in due to their rejection of the Lord's invitation to enter His presence during the time of Moses.

@@LordValcourNo it isn't, you are misquoting Matthew 22:30. All three places this is said in (Matthew 22:30, Mark 12:25 and Luke 20:35) makes it very clear that it is talking about the resurrection. The Greek word there is "anastasei" which translates to resurrection. If they wanted to use heaven then they would have used "ouranō". They didn't, which is why it reads as "For in the resurrection (anastasei) they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven (ouranō)." How you equate Jesus talking about no marriage during the resurrection, an event, to meaning no marriage in heaven, a place, is beyond me. *If you read our own scriptures then you will find it actually agrees with these passages.* It says that if your marriage isn't by God and that if these marriages aren’t made before the resurrection then when you are dead you will not be married and be appointed angels in heaven. (If you care to look it's D&C 132:15-16). In Greek, the language this was originally written in, the expressions “marry” (gamousin) and “given in marriage” (gamizontai) translate forms of the related Greek verbs gameō and gamizō, which have to do with the act of becoming married. The first verb is used here to refer to men and the second to women. If Matthew, Mark or Luke had wanted to say that Christ had said something like “Neither are they now in a married state" (because of previously performed weddings) or something about not being married in general then in Greek they would have used a perfect tense (gegamēkasin) or a participial form (gamēsas) of the verb. They did not, so that cannot be what Jesus meant. Jesus said nothing about the married state of those who are in heaven only that there isn't marriage during the resurrection. The source of the story the Sadducees told Jesus comes from one of the books in the Apocrypha, Tobit. A woman was married to seven men, each of whom died on the wedding night but then had an 8th husband, Tobias the son of Tobit (because she belonged to Tobias by right of inheritance), that was decided in heaven and she would be his in the hereafter. (NRSV Tobit 7:10-11). Raphael (the archangel) was even sent to marry the woman to Tobias. (Tobit 3:17). Jesus probably had this account in mind when He told the Sadducees "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God" because they had neglected to note that the woman had married an 8th husband and that God had sent an angel to marry them so that there marriage was recognized in heaven and she would be his forever in heaven. Catholics choose to elevate Mary and worship her over Jesus Christ himself.

Even before we received further light and knowledge about Priesthood and women, I thought that equating 'Priesthood' with 'Motherhood' was misleading. At least in mortality, all worthy males could receive the Priesthood, but Motherhood might not come to a worthy women. I twitched at that comparison and am grateful it's not often heard these days.
As a guy in the LDS church, I have thought Valerie Hudson and this woman to explain “Priestesshood” to be doctrinally sound and revolutionary! It answers the question: “Why can’t women hold the priesthood?”
Because the priesthood is for priests, and men are washed as priests. Women are washed as priestesses, so thus they have the priestesshood. And if the priesthood is to Protect, Provide, and Preside, what are the duties of the priestesshood? PROCREATION & PEACEMAKING (Nourish and Nurture).
And in the eternal sense how is this understood? The initiatory provides the 3 primary distinctions between Gods vs Goddesses:
1. Ecclesiastical Leadership- Washed as Priest or Priestess
2. Political Leadership- Anointed as Kings or Queens

Call it misogyny, but truth be told the reason women are considered more pure than men and are not nearly as scrutinized/held to higher standards as men, is because women are born with their priestesshood. Whereas men have to EARN their priesthood! And the distinction is co-operative and ever since she talked about the priestesshood SO MUCH MAKES SENSE NOW; LGBTQ issues, polygamy, endowment ceremony, and the eternal family!
It is completely doctrinally sound to call women’s sovereign authority as the priestesshood. There is nothing in scriptures nor Journal of The Discourses that talks about this. But it can be implied in early creation myths from all over the world. But truth be told, the priestesshood is “lump summed” under the title of “Priesthood”. Hence why TempleLight will explain “Auxiliary” and “Temple” authority for women, because they practice the “priesthood” in the initiatory. Which makes sense because the female counterpart of the initiatory is the only other ordinance in the gospel that is centered on the distinction of gender. It doesn’t make sense for priests to wash women as priestesses. Just like a mortal woman can’t be baptized for a postmortal man, a priest can initiate a priestesses.
This understanding changed my life, and it brings so much clarity! I love women and they are better than men in every sense of the word. Which is why in D&C 132 & Journal of The Discourses, there will be a natural shortage of worthy men qualified for exaltation and a natural surplus of worthy women qualified for exaltation. Which is why women will have the choice to continue the eternal family or remain as an angel. I know super controversial, go ahead crucify me.
Which is why establishing Zion is so important! We need the relief society to provide relief to the society of men known as ELDERS QUORUM! Because men are lonely & scrutinized, which is why they need support.

I actually appreciate your description of priesthood and the breakdown between men and women. I don't have any major disagreements but I do think a few of your statements are speculative. We just have no idea how the numbers will play out on judgement day. I can't say that there will be more righteous women than men. I can see how you came up with that idea though. If a person attends a YSA dance and sees how many more women show up compared to men, one could speculate who is more righteous. But, it's just guessing to say that more women will make it than men. But overall I enjoyed your explanation.

In the RS broadcast this weekend there was a major emphasis on women having the priesthood, or specifically, covenant keeping women have just as much priesthood power and authority as covenant keeping men.
This really got me thinking, what does it mean then to be ordained and set apart to an office in the priesthood? How should I be viewing my priesthood office? What is even the point to ordaining men if all you have to do is keep covenants to have priesthood power and authority?
(To be clear, Church leaders usually refer to women having priesthood “power” and “authority” but rarely/never will say that women “hold” or “bear” the priesthood)
Many of the brethren in the church never come to a full understanding of the priesthood they are ordained to. Priesthood is all about service to God, family, and mankind. Priesthood is about learning how to act on behalf of Jesus Christ. If a man will fully embrace this concept of selfless service that man can become sanctified and made pure and holy. This process takes time, but it can prepare the man to then lead his family and others back to the presence of God. Sadly, many men in the church will be content to just show up for sacrament meeting on Sunday and then just go about his life during the week until the next Sunday. A missed opportunity for sure.

That doesn't even make sense. "Priest" is authority only for males. Priestess is female. Says so right in the temple endowment.

Polygamy is not our doctrine. Some members are falsely indoctrinated from out of date ‘Mormon’ culture that polygamy is a thing…. It’s not! They should go join one of the off-chutes who practice polygamy.
His first wife and mother of his nine daughters passed away and he will always love and be sealed to her but he met and married his current wife and she obviously loves him and his daughters too! No polygamy has been allowed in the church since the government took over the land and made them a state! Although because it was and still is a free country, many men and women still illegally practice polygamy and other rituals with multiple partners. This is disgusting and shameful and Utah has one of the biggest problems with young men and pornography partly because they are forbidden to have sex before marriage so, obviously kids do want they are told not to, and they are naive and unaware of the consequences of this behavior and the evil practices it leads them to! No one justifies this but the ones who practice and participate in these sex parties! Unfortunately, these creepy creators who are pedofiles too have grown into massive groups through social networks and are 😅 increasingly becoming unmanageable! It’s a dangerous time for children to be exposed in this country and world! The RS will be the answer for saving the children and mothers who are abandoned in this country! I think that as long as eternal polygamy is doctrine then there cannot be equality between the genders in the church. As a wife how could you ever be equal to someone who has multiple wives?

@@templesofjesus this is demonstrably false. Men sealed to another wife after their first wife dies is sealed for eternity to both wives. President Nelson is an example of this. And even if that weren't the case (which it is), it doesn't matter because past prophets are still sealed to multiple wives. Anyway, Just ask your bishop about it, I promise I'm not making this up.

I don't understand this obsession with women wanting to be ordained. They don't understand priesthood if they think any man or leader can just hand it to them. Only God decides who gets it and not even all men get it. I'm grateful I'm blessed to be able to go to my son, father, brother, husband to bless and protect😇🙏. Instead of shaming our men, maybe have gratitude that they're living worthy to be able to hold the priesthood.
epopel arent sealed but receive a promess of being seal acording to our fidelity just as we dont receive the holy spirit but are invited to receive it , there is work to be done to get these blessing beyond the ceremony itself
You can not hold A higher priesthood calling in the church unless you have A faithful wife at his side.
God does stuff that works. He set up a way to run things efficiently. A prophet to direct His organization, the priesthood to direct things in all parts of the world and to provide training, is his program. If you don't like that, sorry. God did it. He generally gets stuff right.

the biggest problem my wife sees throughout our modern world and even in the church, (and is in part exemplified by videos like this and the talks it references) is the pervasive jealousy women have for men and men's responsibilities and qualities. women aren't supposed to be men and they're not supposed to be like men and they shouldn't WANT to be like men. any woman who wants what a man "has" just reveals her own self-dislike. even just accepting the silly idea that women are inferior in any way shape or form, or wanting to have what men have is giving power to the lie that they aren't as important as men. it's turning a blind eye to both the incredible power and influence women have in this world and always have had (read 1 Esdras from the apocrypha if you want a few thousand year old example of this), and to the inherent difficulties that come with being a man, especially the difficulties we have to endure to restrain our natural passions and emotions just to function at all in society, let alone, function well in it.

This is still 'fuzzy' for me. So you are saying women have priesthood power by virtue of the endowment? Does that mean they only have priesthood power when in the temple? And if women have priesthood power outside of the temple, what do you mean by this? How is this practiced?

President Oaks has implied in past talks that any faithful sister who has been set apart to a church calling gains access to priesthood power to perform that calling. This does not mean ordination to the priesthood. This means when a sister serves in her calling (not just in the temple) she has the authority to do so pertaining to that calling that she has been set apart to.

You don't need to go through the temple to do that. That comes through a calling via a man who holds the Priesthood.

@@stevehumble8865thanks for your reply, so using Pres. Oaks reasoning anyone who has a calling in the church, man or woman has priesthood power at least for that specific calling. When I was first ordained to the Priesthood office of Deacon it was explained to me that Priesthood is the authority to act in God’s name, so in that sense anyone who has a church calling could be said to have the authority to act in God’s name. This is all ok but I must say being totally honest this all feels a little disingenuous, it seems since the church leadership came under scrutiny why women aren’t ordained to the priesthood then there comes all sorts of clever worded arguments to try to show that women have had the priesthood all along, when in reality my whole life growing up in the church when we talk about the priesthood it was always assumed to be the men who are ordained to priesthood offices. I mean after all when there is a Priesthood session at General Conference it is meant to be for priesthood holders right (boys and men) and not just for anyone (male and female) who holds a calling (anyone who has priesthood power)?

Being a parent is one of the greatest and most sacred blessings bestowed upon us by virtue of being created in the image of God. A true understanding of the Plan of Salvation will lead all of God's children to desire an eternal family. Everyone can choose for themselves, of course.
Yes, one of the primary purposes of polygamy is to "raise up seed unto [God]" (Jacob 2:27-30). When there is a shortage of righteous men, polygamy is a framework for providing an eternal family to the single women within the faith.

@@JeremyJohnson-i6i President Nelson's wife passed away and he remarried, so he has had two wives but not in a polygamous way. We do not currently practice polygamy today, and you would very quickly get excommunicated if you tried. This doesn't mean that we're against it in principle. We're aware that it's a weird concept today in western society, but it was a biblical practice. For example, God promised Abraham great blessings through his posterity with several wives. We see nothing inherently wrong with this.
In the spirit of the blessings of Abraham, we believe in the doctrine of eternal families, and that we are blessed in the eternities through our matrimonial bonds and through our posterity. I'm sure there's a lot we don't fully understand about the eternities, but, theologically speaking, President Nelson could potentially continue with both marriages in the resurrection, even though he never practiced polygamy in this life (assuming both women were also OK with the situation, of course). Though I'm sure the heavens will end up being quite a bit different than any one of us imagines...
@@JeremyJohnson-i6iour prophet, President Nelson was married and had a family with his wife Dantzel. She passed away when she was in her 70s and after her passing, Pres. Nelson married Wendy Watson. He has been married twice but never to two women at the same time. Polygamy has actually not been part of our church for a very long time and anyone who does practice polygamy are not members of the church - whether they claim to be or not. Good question! I hope this helped!
President Nelson’s first wife died and he remarried. He was not married to both at the same time. And no we don’t still practice polygamy. That practice was discontinued in 1890. Yes 1890.

@@yourLittleSinner Why did Jesus call men to be apostles and prophets, and other disciples to hold the priesthood? obviously Jesus has organized his church to reflect this. Being parents on earth is a reflection of being heavenly parents. Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother, they are both sacred and special and necessary for the plan of eternal life, but notice how Heavenly Father is who we pray to and not our Mother. Men and women have different duties that we have been called to do by god.
There is an interesting scripture about how the dynamic of marriage is supposed to be

She must know that her arguments are intellectually dishonest. She has said nothing to explain why women cannot perform ordinances outside of the temple. She has said nothing to explain why women are subordinate to men in the structure of the church. She describes the power that women receive as tangible but it is intangible. At most it could give women the right to revelation but anybody can receive revelation. If we want to talk about tangible things then we are talking about power to govern. Women do not have that in the church. I can see from the comments that those people who struggle to admit that women are subordinate to men in the church have been satisfied by this casserole of words that sound like they mean something. I will give her one point for pointing out that motherhood is not equivalent to priesthood. I give her a second point for realising that priesthood is a body of men even though the church leaders have recently taught that it is NOT. Surely she must know that she is not on message.

The bond of marriage no longer exists after death, that is the truth. Matthew 22:29-30: "Jesus replied, 'You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.'" There is no marriage in heaven, there is no procreation. But Mormons choose to elevate the words of Joseph Smith and his blasphemous and false teachings over the words of Jesus Christ Himself.
Interesting perspective. Of course, remember the people asking that question didnt even believe in the resurrection. They were also asking about a particular part of the Law of Moses that by law or simply custom, the brother of a man who died would be given respoonsibiility over that mans wife and children. In the hypothetical scenario, this supposedly happened 3-4 times. In any case, I always think it is interesting when people ask questions about topics they dont believe in from the start.
Based on your comment I assume that since the "bond of marriage" no longer exists in heaven that you wont be with or look at your former husband or wife with that same type of love and respect. They will fall back to being only a fellow believer of God. I bet most Evangelical Christians dont actually expect it to be that way. Your interpretation also highlights a lack of power or an outright lie that Christ told his Apostles. He gave them his "authority" (priesthood) and promised that "what so ever they would bind on earth would be bound in heaven". Wouldnt that apply to marriage?
You can believe as you will but I believe family and marriage relationships will continue after we die for rightous individuals. Teaching that is not the case and that these relationships are only temperary seems kind of sad.
Because at that time the Jews did not have the practice of eternal marriage (sealings). Only the high priest was allowed into the holy of holies in the temple, on behalf of all Israel who weren't allowed in due to their rejection of the Lord's invitation to enter His presence during the time of Moses.

@@LordValcourNo it isn't, you are misquoting Matthew 22:30. All three places this is said in (Matthew 22:30, Mark 12:25 and Luke 20:35) makes it very clear that it is talking about the resurrection. The Greek word there is "anastasei" which translates to resurrection. If they wanted to use heaven then they would have used "ouranō". They didn't, which is why it reads as "For in the resurrection (anastasei) they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven (ouranō)." How you equate Jesus talking about no marriage during the resurrection, an event, to meaning no marriage in heaven, a place, is beyond me. *If you read our own scriptures then you will find it actually agrees with these passages.* It says that if your marriage isn't by God and that if these marriages aren’t made before the resurrection then when you are dead you will not be married and be appointed angels in heaven. (If you care to look it's D&C 132:15-16).
In Greek, the language this was originally written in, the expressions “marry” (gamousin) and “given in marriage” (gamizontai) translate forms of the related Greek verbs gameō and gamizō, which have to do with the act of becoming married. The first verb is used here to refer to men and the second to women. If Matthew, Mark or Luke had wanted to say that Christ had said something like “Neither are they now in a married state" (because of previously performed weddings) or something about not being married in general then in Greek they would have used a perfect tense (gegamēkasin) or a participial form (gamēsas) of the verb. They did not, so that cannot be what Jesus meant. Jesus said nothing about the married state of those who are in heaven only that there isn't marriage during the resurrection.
The source of the story the Sadducees told Jesus comes from one of the books in the Apocrypha, Tobit. A woman was married to seven men, each of whom died on the wedding night but then had an 8th husband, Tobias the son of Tobit (because she belonged to Tobias by right of inheritance), that was decided in heaven and she would be his in the hereafter. (NRSV Tobit 7:10-11). Raphael (the archangel) was even sent to marry the woman to Tobias. (Tobit 3:17). Jesus probably had this account in mind when He told the Sadducees "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God" because they had neglected to note that the woman had married an 8th husband and that God had sent an angel to marry them so that there marriage was recognized in heaven and she would be his forever in heaven.
Catholics choose to elevate Mary and worship her over Jesus Christ himself.
