Did you have a MIB 2 Unit already installed ? I have a mk7 golf gti 2013 dynaudio with mib 1 have been advised will have to get a min 2 unit with a mib 2 dynaudio amp in order for it to work
I bought 2017 Volkswagon Golf which had the system you swapped in already installed, however the unit stopped working and Volkswagen quoted me £1000.00 for a new unit and installation. I have bought the exact unit needed for £100.00, is it just a case of a straight swap or will there need to be some coding done to get the system up and running? TIA!!
Not sure why I'm watching I've got a mk5 and a 7.5 so it's of no use to me but I like to see these things. Good video nice recording and nice and clear. Seems a very painless procedure for something that makes a massive difference
thanks for the video, top! I only have a problem if you can help me. The app button should bring me back to carplay to see the apps, but it doesn't work for me. What can I do?
If your old display has Voice instead of Mute, then you've got MIB2. You can switch the screens out without touching the head unit like the guy did in the video
I just replaced my screen for my Golf mk7 GTD 2015 from a Mib1 screen to a discovery pro screen but i noticed that the quality of my audio has decreased can someone help me out on a fix?
I don’t know how big your knowledge is about VAG infotainment stuff. And my question probably hasn’t got a lot to do with what’s in the video, but I’m gonna ask it here anyway: About a month ago I bought myself a used 2016 Golf 7 Variant (Variant = Estate). 1.4 TSI 125 HP manual transmission. It came with a Discovery Media, Composition Media (Generation 2) infotainment system. I was planning on using Apple CarPlay in my car but when I plug in my iPhone it says I should contact my dealer for an activation code. What are the costs when I want to activate Apple CarPlay in my car? Do I also need to purchase the bigger USB connector/aux thingy?
I recently got mine done. I got it through a friend who works for Volkswagen. The standard price from VW to activate CarPlay was €280, quite steep might be better trying to find a CarPlay installer in your area and checking a price with them
This upgrade makes no sense..to just increase the screen The proper upgrade should be to have 1. mirroring ..no need to wire the set to handphone to nennect wirelessly 2. Can bus install to enable steering controls 3. Instal digital meter cluster The hardware can be bought from ebay suppliers or accessory shops who will install it

Edit: for those asking, I put a link to the forum thread I purchased the display from.

Wish I had MIB2 😭

Where did you purchase new display?
Do you mind sharing the part number for the screen, thanks!

Discovery Pro has 9.2 inch! You installed Discovery Media )
In the US, the 8” Discover Media is called “Discover Pro” because the European-spec 9.2” Discover Pro is not available in North America.
@@marclp2612 are you sure?
Does the App button work? What year is your car?
Something did fall, one retaining clip near your cluster
Can you tell me the part number of your mib 2 main unit please?? I want to buy, but I don't know what part number its correct. Tks a lot!

Can you please share where did you purchase your new head unit and bezel?
Hi, where did you buy the new head unit and bezel? Thank you
Does the gloss black bother you not matching the carbon trim in the rest of the car?
I have an R so the trim matches.
why is it only for the 2016 year and up. cant i put this on my 2014 model?
You need the MIB2 system for it to work. If you upgrade to that unit you can run this screen.

No idea. How does your GTD perform?
Who else finds the Air Freshers bloody annoying to look at and obviously causing an obstruction while viewing the content.
Yup irritating max
I have the golf 7.5 screen but when i fit it in my 2014 gti 7 it does not work
Yes that is correct, you need the MIB2 “brain” that’s located in the glovebox. I covered this in the video.
Does it come with carplay even if you didn’t have carplay on the older screen ?
No you need the MIB2 infotainment brain for this to work
did all errors disappeared ?
Yes errors were just there because the battery was unplugged. They go away after cycling the power
thx :)
@@PolyFPV and have one more question, which cable I need to unplug + or - cuz i want to upgrade my display too
@@daro3907 Either or, but I always disconnect positive.
