Good point there. Still, it'd be nice to see glimpses of Wanders past, such as his home planet, his family, and who he was before he met Sylvia. The characters would be even more interesting if they're allowed to develop positively and we learn more about them. It makes us care for them even more. That's just my opinion, though.
I'd also like to see Wander as a tiny baby/toddler in a diaper waddling around trying to help people and using baby talk. How cute would that be??? I actually found some amazing fan art on a tumblr page that showed baby Wander with his parents and siblings (fanon of course).
+uberdude102 Actually, I'd say the lesson of this episode is learning to accept all aspects of a person, flaws and all. Sylvia learns that she has to accept the mischievous/contrary/constantly running off part of Wander. It's a character flaw, to be sure, and one that he could learn to improve on; but it's still a part of him, and he's her best friend. As she said, "Every part of [him] is important," and he's not complete without it. Curiously, Wander has to learn the same lesson, here. He has to accept the most vulnerable part of himself, and though he was reluctant to face it and even tried to (literally) leave it behind, once he accepted it he admitted that it was the most important part of him, because it obviously represents an important aspect of his life and is part of what shapes his core personality.
+TimeyWimeyAura Beautiful statement. If you REALLY want to get philosophical, then we can look further into why Wander was so reluctant to get Helplessness back. When people grow and develop more personality traits, most of those traits are connected to memories or experiences that help create them. "The Helper seeks to help for he knows what it is like to be Helpless." Something must have happened to Wander when he was younger where nobody was around to help him. Maybe he was abandoned; maybe his planet was destroyed and he was the only survivor; maybe he was kidnapped as a baby. Either theory could result in him seeking a kind person to help him, but nobody was there. If this is true, then Wander must have some trauma in his life that the hates to think about. But Helplessness is important in Wander's case because it taught him empathy. It taught him how refusing to help or be kind to someone can have damaging effects on you. Think of the time you had to learn a life lesson the hard way. Like you told a lie that hurt someone close to you and they never trusted you again, so you make a vow to be as honest as you can. Or maybe how making selfish choices can lead to life-shattering results, but it taught you to be selfless. The best and most important lessons are the hardest to take and - when we look back on them - the negative and pain will open up some old wounds and you wish you could just erase them from you mind forever. But if you did that, then you'd likely forget what an impact that moment had on your life and how it made you a better person. We all have done things we regret and have had painful events happen to us that we wish we could go back and change or erase, but it's like chipping away at a stone to make a statue. It may hurt in the process and there will be pain attached, but it's another way to grow as a person. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I'm not sure what happened to Wander that made him helpless, but he wouldn't be Wander we all know and love if that didn't happen. Now, I'm not saying we should be happy with pain in our lives, but as long as you focus on the lesson and less on the pain, you will continue to grow.
uberdude102 Oh, I'm sorry! Do you need help putting it back together? Seriously, though, I really hope the show has more moments like this. This is all fascinating.
Just started watching all Wander over Yonder episodes and I am very judgemental when it comes to animated series. So far this show made my days, making me laugh after so long over its humor. And after coming to this episode, I never imagined I would cry for so long. This show and Gravity Falls really uplifted my inner kid and happiness. After Disney got infested with sit-coms, I'm just glad there is still a work of art and imagination put into the studio.
Abdullah Baqir This is a story about someone's personality being split up as a means to explore a character. Too many pinkie pies is the best doppelganger story out there. They are both great.
The fact that he was so terrified of getting that part of him back and that his body started functioning without that last part says a lot, perhaps he knows wanting to help is making more damage than good, or maybe he hates what motivates him to help people. Maybe he knows what motivates him to help others is not because it's good and the right thing to do, but because he's so desperately trying to fix/fill something in his past that happened because he didn't got help
I always imagined that Wander was the one who helped Sylvia and that's how they become friends. I like the idea of Sylvia finding Wander as a little defenseless toddler more
There's no way MysteriousMrEnter is gonna turn down an admirable animation review of this! It's not only a great episode with a beautiful message at the end, but it also provides much needed depth into both of the characters. The message, which involves accepting every part of yourself (even the ones you don't like), is especially poignant for anyone who's on the autistic spectrum.
This episode has set so many inspirations to me that I'm following them now. Not much people are selfless anymore. It only seem like people help others in the middle of a crisis, but people should be together all the time.
The fact that he could have lived without his innocence implies that he was like that at some point, but then the innocent baby appeared when he was hurt and in need of help...
Dammit, I'm crying! Need! Backstory! Answers! Why can't the 28th come any sooner! I can't bear another 2 weeks in between episodes after this FEELS Storm!
+HorakhtytheCreator Craig McCracken confirmed that there would be no backstory this season, probably something here and there but not a full backstory. But they have already planed season 3, if Disney give the show another season, we could probably see a backstory or close.
+starnebula from what hints it gives us, i make out that wander is an orphan or got lost or abandoned. screwball was a big part in wanders past, possibly even a past partner, and somehow he has angered hater a lot, and met Sylvia sometime along the way. Sylvia had rider as her past partner, and we heard about him, but judging by what syl says, she has most likely had more partners in the past. lol sorry for the paragraph, just had some ideas. did you know that dinos had big ears?? #rockfact
Craig McCracken confirmed that season 3 would have the backstory, but only if Disney let them make another season. That's why this show needs more official views and populairy, so it can ger a third season.
I wish I could walk you through it, but it's hard to explain. I think it follows the similar chord progression, but I can only recommend you listen to the original song a few more times. Trust me, it's a reprise of that theme; there is a connection.
Wait.. wait! What if Helpless Wander was just a Child-Wander?! really! we dont know anything about Wander's past.. he say: "The Helper seeks to help, because he knows what it is to be helpless" and "I wouldn't want someone else to go through what I went through"does it mean that something horrible happend with Wander in his childhood? And this is why he is so helply..
+Amelia O'Harra That's quite a huge possibility, even from before, Wander is always ready to help others, and feels stress when he can't do anything, like he feels betraying that little part of himself... Until now, we must wait for more episodes to come and discover more about Wander and even Sylvia as well, and their quite unique story together.
The not going through what I went through part referred to the happenings in this episode, I guess. He doesn't want anyone else to be split up into thousand parts of his personality and nearly dying from it. :) But still I'm very interested in Wanders past and I am impressed (not really though, McCracken & Co. are awesome) how deep the mostly easy and lighthearted show can go. And it's also "weird" how it causes Wander to freak out (The Fugitives, The Helper it was called I think). At first you just thought it's like a reflex or instinct to help that is deep infested in his body and mind, but after seeing this, you think about how much of an impact the helpless Wander part has in Wanders life. If he can cause such physical and psychological stress! I love how much thoughts the show can give you in a few seconds that also let you think back to earlier episodes and how they could be connected to this! :D ♥
This episode brings me back. It was one one if the most important episodes for me. This show is still one of my favourite of all time. Also this scene also means a lot. The thing i most wanted to see when this show was still airing was to see more of Wanders backstory. Like not the real real (The wander who was on sylvia when they tried to leave did say ”Thats okay!! I’m alot better without it, Lets go go go!!” Like he was so paniced. Also that line ”If you dont exept one of us, you dont exept non of us” has stuck with me. Gosh i have so much to say about this scene. Like after like 6 years later i still wanna know more about wanders past
I know this popped up until a lot of people recommended if they've been watching a lot of Disney shows but man and I was a really little kid I cried to the same multiple times it wouldn't matter if I was happy that day or not if I watched the scene I instantly start crying because I feel this same feeling whenever it helps someone else cuz I know what it means to be helpless even though a lot of the people that I help don't deserve it I helped them anyway
Wait...WAIT...I GET IT! HE SAID HOME! HIS NAME IS WANDER! HE'S NEVER HAD A HOME! HE NEVER HAD PEOPLE WHO CARED ABOUT HIM, SO HE WAS HELPLESS, WASN'T HE? OMG THAT'S SO SAD!!! dies
This could be a metaphor for accepting you're friends and partner trauma and helping them through it caring for them through it despite how bad it may be you accept every part of them not matter what
It's kind of sad Wander's afraid of his helplessness, but it's touching that even though it seems to be the smallest, it's the the biggest reason why he helps others in the first place.
I don't think that the last side of Wander was his helpful side. I think that was his helpLESS side. It's the side of him that feels fear, the side that feels everything is spiraling out of control and there's nothing they can do to stop it. Hence why it was cowering in a corner and not out there helping Sylvia catch the other wanders. Wander didn't recoil because he doesn't like his need to help people. He doesn't like the feeling of being helpless. Wander would still help people without that part, but he wouldn't do it as selflessly as he has been. Because that part of him is what fuels his need to help everyone no matter how big or small the problem is. Hence the line, "The Helper helps because he knows what it is like to be helpless." Wander as a whole is the Helper. That last tiny part of him is the Helpless Wander. The reason he is so gentle.
I love how he flinches away from his insecure part of himself and that part also being why he has empathy for all the villains instead of just hating them like everybody else.
Wander is a merry, goofy and sweet little guy. He loves helping and searching the good in people (even villains), he is patient and brave, etc, etc. However, in the Heebie Jeebies episode, we saw a trully terrified Wander 😯. He rarely showed fear along the show (example: "The Pet") 🤔 I wonder if that creepy and lonely forest was a reminder of a trauma or a painful memory from his past (Did Wander get lost? Was he running away from some danger? Was he abandon by his family? Is he the only one left from his specie??) 😳. It hurts the fact we never got an episode focused on Wander's past.
I think it's because it hurts to be helpless. But the tragedy is that people need that pain. Our memories of being helpless allow us to be compassionate to others. That's why the full quote of what Wander says here is "Thanks, Syl. That was the most important part."

One of the Wanders says the helper helps because they know it is to be helpless. Look at 'Lil Wander.
I'm not sure about "character" and whatnot, all I know is that HE LOOKS LIKE A TINY PEANUT GODDAMMIT
+Maxine Wumbleguffin he's a Spoooonn
Nadaa Zahra Spoon Peanut is best Wander
his hat is magical and he stole it
The lesson here is You never Know what you have till it's gone or another Lesson here still the it was Cute overload at the end
That one is Good to and yes you are right she has to have every part of him no matter the Flaws
You just blew my mind
uberdude102 Oh, I'm sorry! Do you need help putting it back together? Seriously, though, I really hope the show has more moments like this. This is all fascinating.
“i’m more than ok! i’m perfect!” his trauma really bothers him that badly that he sees himself as flawed with it
THAT was the most IMPORTANT part...
Abdullah Baqir Sadly, the show was cancelled, so we never gonna know his Past
Klui Yeah, that really bugs me. I just hope they don't do the same with DuckTales and Big Hero 6 the Series.
Abdullah Baqir This is a story about someone's personality being split up as a means to explore a character.
Too many pinkie pies is the best doppelganger story out there.
They are both great.
Abdullah Baqir yet they cancelled both shows at SEASON FUCKING TWO. DISNEY SUCKS!
That single tear. Dang. I know how it feels to hate that insecure part of yourself.
You know what this is one of my favorite episodes! It shows what a surprisingly deep character Wander really is!
"The helper seeks to help because he knows what it is to be helpless.'' beautiful
God, this moment still gets me. We really need a backstory for him.
I always imagined that Wander was the one who helped Sylvia and that's how they become friends. I like the idea of Sylvia finding Wander as a little defenseless toddler more
it is the reverse it was she who saved him.
In “The Waste of Time”, we get the idea Sylvia changed over time thanks to Wander.
the sad part is that he wants to leave behind his hope and feels like that part of him isn't important
This show is an underappreciated gem. 💜
You.
Me what?
I like you.
Why? Because of what I just said?
Yes.
This episode has set so many inspirations to me that I'm following them now. Not much people are selfless anymore. It only seem like people help others in the middle of a crisis, but people should be together all the time.
That hit me hard. Baby Wander is so adorable.
It never hurts to help :)
If only we knew of what hurt him. We could’ve gotten it with a season 3.
_"Thanks, Syl."_
Lizzy Lands SHIIIIIIIIIIIP
That was the most important part.
*sees baby Wander* I can't...too..much...cuteness!!! *explodes into confetti, rainbows, and newborn kittens*
Aw, you cut it off at the most heartwarming part!
“Thanks Syl. That was the most important part.”
The fact that he could have lived without his innocence implies that he was like that at some point, but then the innocent baby appeared when he was hurt and in need of help...
OMIGOSHH BABY WANDER IS SO ADORABLEEE
the helper seeks to help, because he knows what it is to be helpless
*fuck this episode got me*
Dammit, I'm crying! Need! Backstory!
#rockfact
+starnebula What? No Backstory? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I need to knooooooooooooooooooooooooow! please don't let this be another fnaf4!
Craig McCracken confirmed that season 3 would have the backstory, but only if Disney let them make another season. That's why this show needs more official views and populairy, so it can ger a third season.
+starnebula sadly, S3 would be No for disney
The piano and horn parts actually play slower versions of "If You Wander Over Yonder."
I can't hear it.
I wish I could walk you through it, but it's hard to explain. I think it follows the similar chord progression, but I can only recommend you listen to the original song a few more times.
Trust me, it's a reprise of that theme; there is a connection.
+blmn564 Okay I'll try. :)
And btw your profile pic makes me kinda uncomfortable xD
BAHHHH-....
HA
HA
HA
+blmn564 O...kay.
LITTLE WONDER SO CUTE!!!
I cried at the end of this😭
Same😭😭😭😭😭
Same :(
I'm crying so hard right now! 😢😢😢😭😭😭
Same :(((((
Same Here
I NEED the music that plays when sylvia finds helpless wander. (and I need a fanfiction about the little ball of cuteness, too)
Wait..
Guess we'll just have to be patient and enjoy the show as it is.
This entire episode was extremely important to me. The Wanders has been my favorite since I saw it.
My quote: "The Most helpful people has been the most helpless people"
I still cant believe a little kid thought of this
This episode brings me back.
And that’s why they should make a prequel about Wander. Like what happened to him way before the show’s events.
Who else thinks the laugh at 0:09 and 0:40 is adorable X3?!
Night Queen the StarLight Princess same XD
Yep. It's irresistible XD
Oh, Wander. You and your secret deep lore.
I cried my eyeballs out
You cried your CPeeps out. 👍🏻
IT'S TWO IN THE MORNING AND I HAVE AN EXAM TOMORROW I HAVE NO TIME TO HAVE FEELS LIKE THIS
am I the only person who feels like this was showing how they met but in a vague way
Wait...WAIT...I GET IT!
HE SAID HOME!
HIS NAME IS WANDER!
HE'S NEVER HAD A HOME! HE NEVER HAD PEOPLE WHO CARED ABOUT HIM, SO HE WAS HELPLESS, WASN'T HE? OMG THAT'S SO SAD!!!

who else finds baby wander so cute?!?! i do and i'm crying because of the cuteness!!
+Raven Grim Same!! I love him too much haha
Pronssiprinssi IRK! HE'S SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!! I CAN'T STOP FANGIRLING BECAUSE OF HIM!!!
I do, soooooooo much
WHAT DOES IKR MEAN (ITS HATYD TY PING WITH SUUJUUUUCTION XCCCCUPS AS HANDSER)
POH WATT IOT MEABS I NOW RTICHY
Brooooo most inspiring thing I've ever heard. I miss this show
This could be a metaphor for accepting you're friends and partner trauma and helping them through it caring for them through it despite how bad it may be you accept every part of them not matter what
It's kind of sad Wander's afraid of his helplessness, but it's touching that even though it seems to be the smallest, it's the the biggest reason why he helps others in the first place.
man, the line describing the Helper side of Wander, man love this series
2:49 "Home." I shed tears the first time i saw that.
Wow, I didn't know Wander had all the Personalities Along With his Kindess and Helpfulness in him
I don't think that the last side of Wander was his helpful side.
Hence the line, "The Helper helps because he knows what it is like to be helpless."
Wander as a whole is the Helper. That last tiny part of him is the Helpless Wander. The reason he is so gentle.
0:14 JEEZ THAT SMILE IS SO ADORABLE I LOVE WANDER!
IKR?!
Cartoon Obsessed ME TOO... ITS SO ADORABLE
I think it looks sly XD, It's actually rare to see him with a mischievous grin
This scene always makes me cry especially the line “the helper seeks to help because he knows what it is to be helpless”
This was one of my favorite episodes. I love seeing all the different parts of Wander
I found this clip a few days ago and now i'm absolutely obsess over WoY, i don't know how i completely forgot about it
Omg. My soul has been warmed by the words that has been spoken by the "Helpless Wander". AAAH HES SO ADORABLE I WILL CRYYY
this episode made me cry more than i have in ages. i freaking love it
aw wander didn't want to feel helpless
This was one of the cutest endings for a regular episode of any show I've seen- and I watch a lot of shows.
I NEED A WANDER BACKSTORYYYY DISNEY PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK WTF
nice idea syilva! and baby wander was so cute
"If you don't accept all of us, you accept none of us"
The most powerful quote so few people actually listen to or understand
I love how he flinches away from his insecure part of himself and that part also being why he has empathy for all the villains instead of just hating them like everybody else.
That was seriously the sweetest moment ever.
That traumatized wander at the end I think might represent wanders childhood. Where he was helpless always bullied and treated unfairly.
As a traumatized person with helper syndrome, this makes me feel seen
What's the episode name I wanna see it
@@1s3e4you5 it's the Wanders! It's from season 2
@@fruitysoupy thank you imma go watch it right now
This scene means everything to me
Wander is a merry, goofy and sweet little guy.
AWW~ Little Wander's like a fuzzy orange baby
THIS NEVER FAILS TO MAKE ME CRY. NEVER.
0:32
Ok-aaaaay? Wander has many sides of him including a drag queen side....good to know
Simple cartoon and graphic, but having the deep meaning that human should know all the time.
We can all agree Helpless Wander is the cutest thing to exist.
Why Wander is so afraid for his helpless part? Maybe he is afraid for his past?
I think it's because it hurts to be helpless. But the tragedy is that people need that pain. Our memories of being helpless allow us to be compassionate to others. That's why the full quote of what Wander says here is "Thanks, Syl. That was the most important part."

Tyler Durham k
I wonder what Hater would say when Wander says that. 1:40
Honestly... who knows?
He got jealous when Wander considered Dr. Screwball Jones a bigger threat than him.
That was awesome
