Until you have done long distance bicycling I do not think that folks can realize how boring and tedious some of the day can be. Mile after mile of the same thing, especially when you are feeling a little under the weather. But when you are home, toasty and warm all you will remember are the best bits. Pretty much sums up my litle bike packing trips,(🤞except i haven't been sick🤞). And your right! the best bits is really what stays with you. And maybe that's why everytime, after having promised myself "never to go it again" i know next year i'm back on the bike😏🤘

I'm trying to do a long distance bicycling trip in Europe next year but I have never done it before and have no idea where to start or what gear to buy. I wanna get the rest of the year to train a bit before jumping onto this adventure. If anyone has a recommendation on what kind of bike or gear, in general, I should get I would greatly appreciate the info. I plan to start in the southern part of Germany and work my way up thru

Use triple crankset 44 32 22 for that kind of expedition touring , a lot more confortable uphill ( or Rohloff , Pinion if $$$) One chainring just backpacking atound the home is ok

Great adventure but it would have been more interesting had you included more of the trip prep, more details about your goals, distances, on what day the footage took place, and where any given moment fit in to the larger picture. As it was, it felt kind of more like a jumbled montage of moments rather than a holistic trip

Can you share some details about the bikes... it’d be great to know how they were equipped and prepped.
jimchik2 we used Sonder, Broken Road bikes and Alpkit bags. We trialed them in North Wales before the trip and sorted the set up there.
